Instead of the usual soft groan, Win’s response was an edged intake. He suddenly lunged upward, the motion a violent displacement of weight that nearly sent Team off balance. Win’s arms wrapped around Team’s torso with the gravitational force of an anchor. He pulled Team down, his face burying into the junction where Team’s shoulder met his neck.
The heat radiating from Win’s skin was no longer caloric ; it was incandescent. Team felt the vibration of Win’s pulse against his own skin, a high-voltage buzz that felt wrong, too fast, too powerful.
"Win, wait..." Team started to say, his voice clipped by the sudden compression of his ribs.
He didn't get to finish.
