Neil knew what the others thought of Andrew. He heard the way they called him monster as if it was just a fact, like how the sky is blue and grass is green. He saw their worried glances between the two of them whenever the subject of their whatever-it-was came up, and how they all thought Andrew would be the one to blame if something happened. He understood it, to an extent. After all, Andrew had done nothing to dissuade their assumptions, and actively threatened to kill them on a daily basis. But it annoyed him, and he couldn’t explain why.

Morgana thinks Gwen is prettiest like this, with her hair coming undone and her armor gleaming in the early morning light. Out here behind her father’s smithy, Gwen’s mask of timidity slips and she becomes a fierce fighter.
Gwen lunges forward and takes an impatient swing at Morgana, who counters and holds her sword inches from Gwen's neck. She’s usually proud of herself when she can beat Gwen but today the victory feels hollow. Gwen isn’t herself. Her footwork is sloppy and her usually strategic attacks impulsive. Up close, Morgana can see the tired circles under Gwen’s eyes. Normally, Gwen would take advantage of their proximity to flirt, but she pulls away, refusing to look at Morgana.

It was supposed to be a normal hunt. It was supposed to be a normal hunt.
It was supposed to be this: they get out of the castle so Arthur can be less of a prat, the knights have that weird banter that they always do where it’s ‘we can make fun of him but if anyone else tries, you will be eviscerated,’ and Merlin gets to enjoy being in the woods because it’s nice outside and he doesn’t actually have to do that much. They only tend to hunt small things like rabbits and birds anyway.
It was not supposed to be most of the knights having to stay behind for various reasons, including Gwaine who somehow got swept into helping Leon with a council thing.
It was not supposed to be just him, Arthur, and three random knights.
It was not supposed to end like this.
