    Summary

A warmth spread through her, consuming her, until even the air seemed too thick to draw into her lungs. She pressed her palms against her knees, as though to steady herself, yet her mind would not be stilled. She saw again that brief flash of his smile, the one that had undone her entirely, and her breath trembled.

What foolishness this was. What wicked foolishness. And yet… she could not summon the shame she knew she ought to feel. Her sisters often spoke of temptation as something that hunted the innocent, but Penelope could not help but feel, in that moment, that it was she who hunted it.

    OR

Deemed hopeless on the marriage market and quietly sent away to a convent, Penelope spends five quiet years trying to tame her heart before taking her vows. But when a young farmer begins assisting Sister Agatha, his gentle presence awakens feelings she ought never to harbour. Try as she might, Penelope cannot banish these wicked longings, nor the dangerous hope that her life beyond the convent walls might yet be her own.

    Summary

The night Penelope is asked the most important question of her life, she is wearing a hot pink feather boa. With sparkles, and a sparkly pink penis tiara to match. Naturally.

The question is not will you marry me, which should have been the most important question of her life (a fact of which she is perfectly aware, thank you very much). It is not do you, Penelope Featherington, take Alfred Debling to be your lawfully wedded husband, because she has a few days left before their officiant asks her that particular question.

“I’m sorry,” Penelope says. “What did you say?”

She’d heard him, but she’s drunk in a hot pink feather boa and a penis crown and surely Colin Bridgerton cannot be asking her about regrets.

Four of the most important days of Penelope's life occurred on the same date each year.

    December 25.

    These are those Christmases.

(Plus one she doesn’t find out is important until later.)

    Summary

Truthfully, Colin would have loved to give Agatha a little sister but there was one tiny, minuscule complication.

A very, very small one really.

(It was not, in fact, small.)

He and Penelope weren’t married. They weren’t even a couple. They had never been in that type of relationship.

Or the one where Agatha Bridgerton won't stop asking her unmarried parents for a baby sister.
