    Summary

When Charlie Spring's dad gets relocated for work, Charlie and his siblings are forced to leave behind their lives in New York City and start over in a tiny town in South Carolina.

    Charlie hates it.

He hates the heat, the smell, the lack of public transportation, the casual homophobia, and the fact that half the town seems emotionally invested in high school football.

    Then he meets Nick Nelson.

Nick is a farm boy, a quarterback, and annoyingly nice. He's also funny, patient, ridiculously attractive, and somehow determined to drag Charlie through every small-town summer tradition imaginable.

Charlie keeps telling himself they're just friends.

Unfortunately, that becomes harder to believe with every passing day.

    Summary

Most people knew this about him, most of his coworkers respected his nods or otherwise silent greetings and didn’t bother to try and converse with him.

All except one Nicholas Nelson, of course.

Nick was a morning, afternoon, mid-afternoon, and night person. Much to Charlie’s chagrin, Nick was a never-off-even-for-a-single-second-of-the-day type person.

And, boy, that irritated Charlie to no end because no person should always be that cheerful and happy and full of conversation.

(or ENEMIES TO LOVERS OMG FINALLY! Happy endings for all!)

    Summary

“Charlie can’t help it. He knows it’s cliche, knows it’s dramatic, knows he’s acting like an American contestant on The Bachelor — multiple old seasons of which he and Nick watched this summer, in the pleasant hot haze of holiday boredom.

He knows all that, and he still runs and literally leaps into Nick’s arms, wrapping his legs ever-so-briefly around his middle.

He comes back down to earth and his mind flickers, just for a moment, with questions about whether Nick was ready for such a public display in his still-new city. But Nick is gripping Charlie’s hips so tightly, and pressing his face into his neck, and swaying a bit and — well, he doesn’t really seem to mind.”

    Summary

An American AU—As a pastor’s kid in the claustrophobic midwestern town of Millhaven, fifteen-year-old Charlie Spring is a master of camouflage. He wears the mask of the perfect, polite son to survive the rigid expectations of Grace Hill Methodist church, entirely convinced that his identity makes him a problem to be solved.

Then an inescapable homeroom seating chart drops a new kid—an intriguing transplant from big city Chicago—into the desk right next to him. Impossibly warm and devoid of cruelty, Nick’s effortless kindness begins to breach Charlie’s carefully constructed defenses, forcing him to face a terrifying question: What happens when the person you’re pretending to be can no longer hide the person you actually are?

    Summary

Ten years ago, Nick and Charlie met at Truham and became the best of friends. Charlie was Nick's bi-awakening, but he never got the chance to tell him, instead, Nick watched Charlie date a string of other guys, and eventually they drifted apart during their uni years.

Now, Charlie is an editor living in London. He recently broke up with another boyfriend, but none of them are ever serious. He just can't seem to find someone who lives up to his high ideals, set by his longtime, unattainable crush.

Meanwhile, Nick Nelson recently retired from professional rugby and moved to London to start a PGCE teaching course at UCL. He's single—but what's new—and eager for a break from his overly busy life.

In steps Charlie's best friend Isaac, an author who also happens to own the popular Open Book airbnb, a bookshop you can actually stay in and run yourself for a week. What happens when he offers a last minute opening to both his friends, unbeknownst to them?
