Summary
An idea popped into Sandrone's mind—a bold one, for certain, but one that almost guaranteed Columbina wouldn't be able to hold up her end of their makeshift agreement. If she was lucky, it might even get the woman to leave her alone entirely. She reached for a spare piece of the nice paper she kept on hand for official use, and began writing out the exact procedures her little "experiment" would entail.
Sandrone proposes a deliberately outrageous experiment in order to get Columbina to stay as far away from her as possible. She does not succeed.

Someone unfamiliar with the Moonchanter might have interpreted the way she had lunged, the way she had frantically grabbed and groped at Nefer's body as if she was claiming it as her own, as something possessive—something unabashedly dominant. But as Nefer drew a firm line down her back, her sharp talon surely leaving a mark, she smiled wide as Lauma sobbed above her. The idea that she was the one taking anything was laughable. This was nothing but a desperate plea from a woman on the brink of collapse, so pent up and empty-headed that she had bothered to ask a question that she already knew the answer to.
Lauma has come down with something serious and is unable to leave her small home in the Frostmoon Enclave. Nefer offers to help take care of her in any way she can.

Summary
Eighteen times she has taken what wasn't offered. Eighteen times she has said 'I love you' and 'I'm sorry' like they were the same word. Eighteen times she has wiped away the evidence and told herself there was nothing left.
But there is always something left. Not just on the skin: on her. Warmth she cannot generate alone, closeness she was never offered, a piece of Sandrone she carries until she can steal it again.
Columbina cannot stop. She knows what she is and she hates herself for it. But stopping would mean giving up the only part of Sandrone she can have and she needs her too much to let go.
Eighteen will become nineteen.
