All Anakin needed to know is that Palpatine is the friend and mentor that the Jedi would never give to him, that Obi-Wan would never be for him, not after his betrayal.

“General?” Rex’s voice echoes in his ears but it's muffled, like Rex is miles deep under water. “Do you know that woman?”
“I think she’s…” Anakin is nine-years-old again, turning away from the hut he grew up in with nothing but a bag over his shoulders and sand in his boots. He’s 19-years-old and Owen Lars tells him his mom hasn’t been on Tatooine in almost five years. Anakin swallows thickly, “I think she’s my mom.”
The woman, Anakin’s mom, raises a shaky hand to press against her lips.
She used to kiss his temple, Anakin remembers, and the sand engrained in both his skin and the cracks in her lips would scratch against each other.
Anakin wants her to kiss his temple, wants to feel the grit of sand scratching against his skin.
She moves first, or maybe he does. Or maybe the two of them spur into motion at the same time, like engines on a podracer.

In the wake of Obi-Wan's capture and presumed death, Anakin is left to his own devices. What's a boy to do but immediately run away from the Jedi Temple and proceed to lead a planet-wide revolution?

Summary

Happily mated to Obi-Wan and expecting their first children, Anakin's world is turned upside down when Palpatine unleashes Order 66 and kidnaps an incapacitated Anakin, whom he plans to groom into his Imperial Omega. Anakin struggles to raise his children alone and survive the harsh rule of Darth Sidious as he is forced to do the Sith Lord's bidding. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan is a jaded Rebellion fighter, believing Palpatine to have murdered his mate and stolen his children.
Sweet justice, then, when the Emperor's own mate, Darth Vader, is hand-delivered to Obi-Wan.
