Tom returning late from his meetings is nothing unusual per se. So, when he isn’t home by 10pm, you head to bed by yourself.
It’s a few hours later when you—through the haze of your sleep—only faintly notice the front door to your shared house opening, and he soon enough gets into bed next to you.
Nothing unusual either.
Yet, not long after, you wake again. Wake with the feeling of him pressed up against you—his breath hot against your neck—and you realise tonight is different.
