Summary
Kei is forced to switch schools in the middle of his first year of high school due to an irrefutable deal his mother has been offered. Moving to Tokyo and leaving his friends – and his volleyball team – are difficult enough for him, let alone attending Metropolitan Nekoma High School, to his mother's request. To say the least, he's not overly fond of the idea of going to Karasuno's rival school, but there's nothing he can do about it. He decides not to join the volleyball club and focus merely on his studies.
Too bad a certain third year makes it his mission to convince Kei otherwise.
Kuroo might be adamant, but so is Kei. He is determined to stay away from volleyball, and he's not about to change his mind just because Kuroo said so. Nekoma and Karasuno have a good relationship, the battle of the garbage dump can perfectly happen without Kei. He has absolutely no reason to join. None. Zero. Nothing.
No matter what Kuroo says or does, Kei will stand by his decision.Or will he?
(And most importantly, he’s absolutely not going to fall for Kuroo along the way. Right?)

It’s odd to think, that at the beginning of it all, they were no more than strangers employed by the Akademiya, rarely at the same place at the same time – only tangentially aware of each other’s existence through the grapevine. That their first true interaction was a clash of blades outside of Aaru Village. That the General had hissed and protested, hackles raised, at having to work with Alhaitham, that he’d been so distrustful. It’s odd to think, considering now they’re… this – whatever this is exactly. But it seems as though the General is a lot more willing to serve Alhaitham’s will than he ever was to serve his predecessors. And it’s an honor, truly, to have The Great Vayuvyastra at his beck and call, to have his servitude and his devotion. Because as the Akademiya embodied, Alhaitham is now the one Cyno is loyal to, the one he protects as he upholds justice.
(aka. Alhaitham ends up having to take care of Cyno after he gets doused in an unknown substance and goes a little feral)
