In those early days—they’d only ever had early days, hadn’t they?—Auguste had thought of Annabel Lee as the more interesting of the three adult Ushers in existence at that time. She was red-haired and long-faced and soft-featured with not a calmness but a steadiness about her that left more room for life. Roderick and Madeline were strangely a little complicated for Auguste to really hold in his mind; he often felt like they went out of focus the longer he looked at them, becoming blurry and unfamiliar.
At some point, Auguste had realized Roderick was attractive—it was something in the planes of his face, the slope of his shoulders—accepted the thought, and then put it on a shelf. Don’t think about it, focus on the questions.

This has made my day, my week, my month! I have been checking in yearning if the Roderick Usher/C. Auguste Dupin tag appears, because I want, I need so much more about these two, and really, just dissecting everything this horrible selfish and coward man has done and said, and yeah, this story is brilliant! Probably will re-read it as obsessively, as I am rewatching the show!

I was tempted to ask the author for a Dracula POV, because yes it was my secret wish, and they read my mind, the only detail is that it destroys me completely. XD
