“It’s about time,” Aegon said. And then, almost as an afterthought, he added, “Helaena’s coming with us. You don’t mind, do you?”
Aemond opened and closed his mouth. He had not even wanted to go in the first place, but he wanted even less to go with Helaena in tow. He could not imagine what madness had possessed Aegon to bring their sister to brothels and pleasure dens; what would she even do in such places?
“Will it be…safe?” he hedged.
Aegon’s smile widened as he came forward, clapping a hand on Aemond’s shoulder. “With you there? Of course it will.” He turned to look at Helaena, who was twirling the hem of her jacket around her finger, watching Aemond almost nervously. “You’d never let anything happen to our sweet sister, would you?”
