Then, he threw it at Hood’s helmet and bolted down the Tower corridor.

For once, Roy found his mind completely blank. He was sitting in a restaurant across from Riza Hawkeye, at a table lit by romantic candlelight. She was holding his hands, her thumb absently drifting back and forth over his knuckles. There were violins playing somewhere, for god’s sake. He should have been attempting to listen in on Edison again, or passing information to her in code, or something, but all he could think was that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and that it was becoming a problem.

Charon groaned and reached to touch a bedraggled wing. “Mrrraggghhh.” Disapproval radiated from the sound, but he couldn’t help the censure. This was not a sight he ever expected to see, and he did not like it. Hermes had worked himself into a state of utter exhaustion, so badly his entire countenance had dulled. He’d lost his shine, and that was a consequence of overwork Charon could never abide. Not for Hermes.
OR: Even the god of swiftness needs to preen his wings from time to time. His favorite associate insists he take a break and offers to lend a hand.
