Summary
The first time, all she feels is horror and a planet’s worth of grief as Tiamut emerges as a newborn celestial. Horror and grief that is mirrored on Gigalmesh’s, Thena’s, Makkari’s and Druig’s face. Glancing over at the closest thing they have to a mother, Ajak meets Sersi’s eyes, a mix of guilt and grief.
She knew. Is all Sersi can think. Tiamut with childlike innocence, a dreamer’s heart and wanting to please his new companions grants a wish.
The second time, a third of her family is dead and her heart stings with betrayal and love and if she’s honest . . .hate. Tiamut, the closest thing the Eternals have to a child is dead and Sersi killed him. His open acceptance of his death fractured a part of Sersi. As they are being judged of Earth’s worthiness in front of Arishem, Sersi siphons enough remaining Celestial power to make a wish.
Like her beloved humans say . . . third times the charm. Sersi with memories of their first two attempts of the emergence trembles with the weight of what’s to come. Stuck between alternate memories of her family, Sersi makes a vow to save them all. As Tiamut’s chosen, she hopes to save not only the humans and Tiamut but keep her family from being destroyed as well.
