Summary
Erik was awake. He pushed himself up by his arms and stared at me. He was perfect, but something was off. Maybe it was the tears in my eyes, but I couldn’t seem to focus on his face. A black mist that wasn’t actually there clouded his features. I could see his eyes, crinkled with a smile, but I couldn’t see his mouth. When I finally managed to see his lips mouthing at me to join him, I then couldn’t pinpoint the scar I knew to be there.
I started to panic, but Erik spoke to me without his voice, telling me to unfocus my gaze. Once I did, once I stopped obsessing over the small details I couldn’t seem to grasp, I saw his slightly blurred figure holding out his hand for me to take.
