Summary
At the last moment, Asriel couldn't go through with Chara's plan to save the underground. They were already very ill and near the brink of death, but with their family's help, they managed to pull through. The attempt left permanent damage.
Now, years later, the Angel of the Underground faces mounting pressure to fulfill the prophecy and their worsening health. Luckily, the Royal Advisor, Carol Holiday, has a good-for-nothing daughter that has nothing better to do. And so, Dess is assigned to aid them in whatever ways possible as their Lady in Waiting.

The plan was simple: He would bring Chara buttercups while their parents slept. Chara would eat the Buttercups and progressively get sicker until they... died. Then, He would absorb their soul, cross the barrier, collect six more, and then break it, freeing monsterkind.
But... if the plan was so simple... why was it so hard?
