"Zanka doesn't know when it began. There was a lingering feeling in the air, a faint smell of iron, like he was actively being haunted by something, someone. An unsettling feeling drooped in his stomach, hollowing him from the inside out. It had become familiar in a sort of twisted way.
He questioned it, of course; at first, at least. But he never detected anyone following him, and nobody else understood his concerns, so he simply blamed his heightened senses from a lifetime of training. Everything on the ground could smell of iron, since there was so much trash.
And he couldn't quite tell what it would be, if not the pollution mixed with the environment. The smell was a little dizzying at times, when it got stronger, leaving him somewhat dazed for a couple of seconds. But it happened rarely, and it was easy to ignore. Maybe the sleepless nights were catching up to him?"
aka Zanka gets his life saved by his stalking-inclined masochistic rival, and confronting him goes awfully off the rails.

“I should have never accepted this research proposal,” Kaveh sniffs, smiling despite himself.
A hum from across the table quickly turns into a sharp laugh, as if Alhaitham hadn’t wanted to react to what Kaveh had said at all.
When Kaveh looks up, Alhaitham is seated in his usual position, crossing one of his legs over the other while holding a book. His hat is haphazardly thrown across some papers that have managed to creep their way onto Kaveh’s side of the table, black Haravatat pin gleaming up at Kaveh in the yellow glow of the desk lamp.
Kaveh can’t see Alhaitham’s face from behind the book, but somehow he knows that Alhaitham is smiling too.
The story of how Alhaitham and Kaveh met, worked on one of the Akademiya's most well-respected projects, and fell in love.

WAAAAAA I HATE THEM SO MUCH i almost cried BUT I DID NOT why did i read this? who knows 61/10 (by the way this isn't a rating of the fic this is how many emotions i felt)
