Summary
(Takes place after the first movie.)
They got away with it. Everything was ruled out as a freak accident. The leftovers were paid for their silence.
More unfortunately than not, Herbert and Dan are left with the aftermath.
Herbert is at a heightened unease around his newly discharged roommate (ripped from the hospital by Dan). Dan doesn’t give him the same attention anymore, their unorthodox form of domesticity lost. He missed the hungry, desperate light in Dan’s eyes, back then studying his recent analyses nestled in the messy sketches of his journal down in the basement. He missed the witty remarks, playful banter, Dan would surprise him with once in a while in the kitchen. He wants things to go back to normal, where their conversations, light and jovial, would run on for hours before they could catch a wink of sleep. When their fights, cathartic and raw, had no zombie spectator.
It should be Herbert and Dan against the world, not Herbert, Dan, and Megan against the world.
Herbert’s dilemma is short lived, just like Megan.
