Work Text:
They don’t end up rolling in dough. They don’t end up with any gold at all, after all that. All the sacrifice and heartache is for nothings but on days Kie wants to look on the brighter side of things she’s thankful for that stupid godforsaken gold hunt, it brought them altogether, not that she ever would have thought they needed it. But that bond was solidified over that time and it turned into something truly unbreakable. The six of them, no matter how much time or distance comes between them, they are each other’s people for life.
And then there’s JJ, who she thinks might just be her person.
Not even in the way of romance or longing, just that he has been the most permanent fixture in her life for the last year and a half. Longer if she’s being honest with herself. A tried and true friendship. In whatever way, however things pan out, not for a second can she even picture a life in which he isn’t by her side every step of the way.
They did get their surf trip. The far off dreams of two sweaty stow-aways in a shipping container becomes a reality and it’s as perfect as she imagined it.
Mostly - they didn’t end up with the gold so there isn’t quite as much laying around, doing what ever the fuck they want as they would have liked. But still, they go where the wind blows them, surf all the best breaks, and don’t let anyone stop them.
The first summer after graduation, after the gold was without a doubt gone, was spent working themselves to the bone, saving as much as the possibly could. Her and her parents came to somewhat of an agreement, after it dawned on them that if they kept pushing her in a direction that wasn’t her she wouldn’t hesitate to leave and never look back. They won’t pressure her about college, or a career but her travelling had to be 100% on her own dime. JJ almost seemed relieved about that - that they would be on even ground. They did end up slipping her come ‘in case of emergency’ cash before she left on the ferry though - that her and JJ promptly blew the first night in Spain on sangria and the most expensive hangovers they’ve ever had.
But all that saving got them there, got them a couple weeks of carefree touring and then, it was work. And that’s what it’s been ever since. Beautiful locations, and work, work, work - surfing and sight seeing as much as they can in between. And then when they get the chance a couple of weeks off, where they can really live the dream.
That’s what they are doing now. In Thailand. Some locals they met while working at a small market fruit stall told them about this place you can rent. A small beach hut, not anything fancy but it’s got a roof and a bed - one bed, but it’s not the first time they’ve had to share since they’ve started travelling, and even before - set where the jungle meets the beach on a perfect surf break - a private surf break.
They are well stocked on food and beer - and whatever fish JJ insists he’s going to catch - so for the next two week it will be nothing but them and the water.
Kie takes a sip of her beer and looks out at the moonlight water, their small rented boat anchored at the shore and the waves already calling her. JJ sits beside her in the sand, something they learnt long ago was that silence, enjoying each other’s company without having to talk, was something they both needed after travelling - a moment to rest and reset.
‘It’s so beautiful here.’ Kie sighs, breaking the silence for the first time since they sat down.
‘Yeah,’ JJ agrees, turning to look at her, ‘contender for the top 10 I reckon.’
Top ten, because they can’t travel the world without ranking every place they visit - there’s a bottom 10 too of course, and a secret plan to get the pogues to go visit them under the guise of how fantastic they are.
‘It’s been like an hour, Jay.’ She chuckles.
Sure, it’s nice but she’s not going to jump the gun just yet.
‘When you know, you know.’ He grins, reaching out his bottle and tapping it with hers.
Kie lets out a content sigh and looks back out the view.
‘I can’t wait to get out on those waves.’
She can’t see very far out to see in the dark but what she can see, and hear, she already knows it’s going to be the best surf she’s had in months.
‘Why wait?’ JJ asks, jumping up.
‘JJ, no,’ Kie glares, ‘you agreed, no night surfing.’
You can’t when it’s dark, potential dangers, if someone comes off, and they are so far from help she doesn’t want to risk anything.
‘Relax mum.’ He smirks down at her, ‘Just a swim.’
She raises a skeptical eyebrow at him, she is more than aware that JJ can get into plenty of trouble with just a swim.
He raises his hands up in surrender. ‘Just in the shallows I promise.’
‘Fine,’ she relents.
JJ’s grins at her, instantly reaching behind his head to tug off his shirt. Kie can’t help but smile at his child like enuthisam, and that fact that even though he is a full grown adult who can do what ever he pleases, he still respects her being comfortable with whatever dumb ass shit her wants to get up too.
His shirt gets dumped into the sand, and then his shorts are dropped down. Next his fingers hook over his underwear and Kie realises what’s happening just in time as her head snaps away and she covers her eyes for good measure.
‘JJ, what the hell?’
‘What?’ JJ laughs, he knows exactly what. ‘We have a private beach, Kie. You can’t have a private beach and not go skinny dipping.’
‘I think you can. Especially, if you have people with you who don’t want to see your junk.’
‘It’s happening.’ JJ tells her his voice getting distant as he starts to make his way down the beach. ‘Accept it.’
Kie turns back and see’s JJ walking away from her, as naked as the day they first broke into Big John’s liquor cabinet and mixed bourbon with absinthe and red bull.
‘You ass is so white it’s reflecting the moonlight!’ She yells after him.
‘No one asked you to look, Kiara!’
Kie laughs and throws her head back, leaning back on her arms and looking up at the stars. She hears a splash of JJ hitting the water and then he lets out a yell.
She looks back down and shakes her head at him with a small smile on her lips as she watches him dive into the water and then pop back up shaking his hair out.
‘Be careful, idiot!’ She calls.
‘What?’ JJ yells back, face crinkled in false confusion, ‘I can’t hear you! You should come closer.’
‘Not a chance in hell!’
He reaches his arms out to the side.‘Where’s your sense of adventure?’
‘I thought you couldn’t hear me?’ Kie teases with a smirk.
JJ just raises both his middle fingers up at her and then flops backwards into the water.
Sitting for a moment, Kie contemplates before standing, her hands grip the bottom of her shirt and pulls it off, she unzips her shorts and starts to shimmy them down her legs.
‘Woo hoo!’ JJ calls from the water.
Kie kicks off her shorts and glares down at him. ‘Turn around!’
With a raise of his hands JJ obeys and turns around leaving Kie to pull off her bikini and let the cool crisp air hit her bare skin.
Slowly she makes her way towards the ocean, hesitant to have nothing but the water separating her and JJ. It’s not that they’ve never been around each other naked, or seen each other, enough drunken shenanigans and doors the don’t lock around the Chateau and even a couple nude beaches but this is different, this is just the two of them, no one to interrupt, no one as a buffer to keep herself from getting… distracted. If she’s being truthful she doesn't quite trust herself.
Look, JJ is her best friend. He’s her companion, the most constant thing in her life and she loves him. But she would be lying if she tried to deny the fact that there is something between them. What exactly, she doesn’t know. For sure a certain amount of sexual tension, and just a dash of underlying and repressed feelings, at least on her side, that she has been successfully avoiding for years at this point.
It’s not hard, not really, any time she feels a moment, anything comes bubbling up, she makes a joke. They laugh and like that it’s forgotten. That’s them, it's light and easy and she knows that anything more than what they have will change that. And she’s not about to sacrifice that for a maybe, she’s tried that once before and she knows, it just doesn’t end well.
But there’s something, about the privacy, the intimacy of the location, of the darkness, that she knows can cloud judgement and make things feel a little fuzzy around the edges.
She wades into the water, making sure she’s fully covered, before she splashes JJ, letting him know he can turn back around.
‘Behave.’ He warns her, turning around and splashing back at her.
Kie laughs as she dodges the water, then sinks further under bobbing with the small waves in the shallows, letting the cool water calm her.
She catches JJ watching her after a moment.
‘What?’
JJ shakes his head, settles back into the water. ‘Nothing.’
She raises a sceptical brow and he shrugs.
‘I was just thinking… I’m glad we did this.’
‘Me too…’ Kie looks around the water, back up to the tiny little hut, ‘It’s a nice place.’
‘Nah,’ JJ shakes his head and floats over to her a little. ‘Not here. Like, this this. The trip.’
JJ’s voice is soft and genuine, vulnerable. It’s not the intimate moment she expected the night sky to bring out but it still makes her heart jump.
‘Me too.’
She takes a deep breath, not quite sure what else to say. How does she even begin to put into words how much this has meant to her?
‘I guess it has to end sometime, right?’
Kie hums, she doesn't like to think about that. They’ve never really talked about it, they both know this trip can’t go on forever but still it’s been nice to think of a constant adventure, to just keep on doing this, an indefinite dream.
She wonders why he’s bringing it up now, for a moment, before the most obvious reason dawns on her. Perhaps this is his last hurrah, one final destination - a break up holiday - where he tells her he’s done.
‘Do you want it to?’ She asks, hoping the disappointment in her voice isn’t as obvious as the pit in her stomach, she doesn't want to feel like she’s guilting him to stay with her if he doesn't want to. ‘I mean, if you’re ready to go home or stop somewhere, that’s cool…’
‘No.’ JJ moves towards her. ‘No, that’s not what I meant.’
He almost seems panicked that that’s what she thought and Kie instantly feels her body un tense.
‘I just was thinking, we can’t keep doing this forever.’
‘Yeah, I guess.’ She looks down and watches her fingers dance along the water. ‘But not yet, right?’
He lets out a soft laugh. ‘No, not yet.’
They fall into a silence that Kie’s not quite sure how to deal with, the light breezy mood of the night evaporating into the air.
A splash of water hits her and Kie takes a minute, blinking the water out of her eye, then glares at the offender as he speaks.
‘Guess you’re stuck with me until you’re sick of me.’ He grins.
And that. That right there, almost like he read her mind. The way he so casually brings the mood back to light and fun and so them. That’s what makes him so special. That’s what makes him so him.
‘Well, if that is the criteria. We should have parted ways a long time ago.’ She teases, splashing him right back.
JJ takes a moment to let the water drop off him, watches her carefully and Kie eyes him suspiciously. Slowly his lips break into a smirk and then a second later, he’s making his move.
‘Don’t,’ Kie warns, and starts hastily backing up.
He doesn’t head her, wading quickly towards her. Kie turns and tries her best to run through the shallow water, trying to start modest in her state of undress as she does.
‘Take it back!’ He calls after her.
He catches her, strong arms wrapping around her middle, as he pulls her back flushing into his front, nothing but skin against skin and Kie shutters a breath even as she squeals at him to let go.
‘Say you love me!’ He demands as he manhandles her, falling back a bit, threatening to dunk them.
‘Never!’ She declares, trying to squirm out of his grip.
‘You love me! I know you do!’
Kie reaches around to wrap her arm around the back of his head and strains around to look at him, his face hooked over her shoulder.
‘I don’t.’ She lies, with a wide smile on her face.
His eyes narrow at her. ‘Say it.’ He tells her again.
He looks so cute, Kie can’t help the small giggle that bubbles up in her throat, then looks him dead in the eye as she relents.
‘I love you.’ She tells him, a little breathless.
JJ grins wide, but doesn't let her go. Instead they both stay where they are, pushed tight together, eye’s locked, lips a fraction of an inch apart.
Subconsciously her tongue darts out to wet her lips, and she watches JJ’s eyes flit down. Probably just a response to the movement she tells herself but he still holds her close.
The power of the moonlight takes over, not that she was fighting it so hard. and she closes the fraction of space between them. Pressing the sides of their lips together, all that can reach, only briefly.
The only reaction she gets from JJ is the small twitch of his lips. Already in it, she decides, she throws caution to the wind and does it again. This time his lips give her a bit more than a twitch as she kisses him, his arms loosen their grip around her and Kie uses it as a chance to twist around.
Her lips find his before she’s fully turned to him, her arms wrap around his neck as her fingers twine with his hair, working their lips together so perfectly that makes her wonder what she was ever really worried about.
Losing your best friend says the voice in the back of her head, reminding her just exactly what she was worried about. Reminding her why she hasn’t done this before, why she’d brushed off all the other opportunities.
She pulls away and JJ whines, and that is almost enough reason to kiss him again. She pushes her forehead against his and can’t bring herself to open her eyes.
‘Jage,’ it’s barely audible over the crashing of the waves around them.
His hand cups her jaw, fingers spreading out over the back of her head and her eye’s flicker open. He’s watching her carefully, a heartbreaking combination of concern and adoration.
‘I didn’t mean to do that.’ Is all she can think to say.
JJ nods, not pulling his forehead off of hers.
‘We can pretend it didn’t happen if you want.’
Kie sucks in a breath.
‘I dont-‘ I don’t know what I want. I don’t want to ruin this. I don’t want to forget.
She doesn’t know what she was going to say so she doesn’t say it. Nervously she swallows, one hand fiddles with his hair, the other slides down his chest, she watches her hand as it strokes his chest, playing with the small patch of hair there. She doesn’t know what she wants but she knows she doesn't want to move yet.
JJ’s thumb strokes her cheek bone, he doesn’t push her, doesn't say anything. It’s not fair on him, making him just stand there while she makes up her mind. But he does it, because it’s JJ, and he just gives. He loves with his whole heart and expects nothing in return.
It’s one of the things she loves most about him. One of the things she hates most too.
‘Tell me you love me.’
She doesn't need to hear it. She knows it. He says it often enough. But just in the moment she wants the reminder, she knows what it will mean- what she wants it to mean- when she hears it.
‘I love you.’ He says, no hesitation.
Her lips pull up either side and then she’s tilting her head up and kissing him once more.
JJ returns her kiss with ease, gently inviting her into his mouth as they learn this new part of each other.
It doesn't take long for the sweet slow kissing to build inside Kie. All those emotions she has been repressing have bubbled up and so have those other feelings. She feels a desperate need, a want, for him and she can’t ignore it.
Kie rocks her hips forward gently and lets out a small moan when she finds him hard and waiting. JJ’s hand drops down to her hips, helping guide her in some more slow, steady rock against him. She picks up one of her legs, hooking it over his hip, needing more, hoping JJ will give it to her.
JJ pulls away from her, their lips smacking as he does. His lips are swollen, cheeks flush, he looks so hot right now that if she wasn’t in the middle of jumping him already she'd do it on the spot.
She expects him to say something, but he doesn't. She lets her hands do the talking, winding down between them with a teasing smirk and carefully wrapping her hand around his hard cock.
JJ shivers and her smiles widens, gently she starts moving her hand.
‘Maybe we,’ JJ breathes out, his words get caught in his throat as she shutters slightly. ‘Maybe we shouldn’t do this.’
‘Oh,’ Kie lets go of him and pulls back, in a second she’s gone from feeling sexy and confident, to awkward and thoroughly embarrassed. ‘Do you not want to?’
‘Kie, I just-‘
She feels her lips quiver slightly as she pulls away.
Oh fuck. She’s done it, exactly what she didn’t want to do. Exactly what she was hiding from. She’s gone and ruined everything.
She drops her gaze, sucks her bottom lips into her mouth. She swears she’s going to cry. As if she wasn’t already embarrassed enough.
‘Hey,’ he moves into her again, a finger coming to prop under her chin, making her look up at him. ‘Kie, I want to, okay? I’ve wanted this for so long.’
His eye’s flick between hers.
‘I just want to make sure this is what you want too. I don’t want you to regret this.’
Kie reaches up and runs a hand through his hair, she plants her lips on his for a peck.
‘For how long exactly?’ She asks, with a small laugh.
JJ’s eyes light up and he drops his head to her shoulder briefly.
‘I’d rather not say actually.’
She breaks out into a wide grin, and then, sure once more she connects their lips, deep and passionate.
Finding his hands on her hips JJ lifts her up, as if she’s as light as air in the water and Kie wraps her legs around him. Then reaches down to help guide him inside her.
It’s slow and steady, their lips never leaving each other, as they both rock, meeting each other, perfectly in sync like everything else they do together.
As they both come down, Kie doesn’t want to move. More than happy to just stay there, exchanging lazy kisses as her body slowly comes back to itself.
Eventually they do part, walking hand in hand back up the beach to their tiny little shack. Falling into the bed and pulling one another close.
***
She wakes up to the sun, to the wind and the sound of crashing waves coming though the wide open double doors. She doesn’t open her eyes, just enjoys the moment of tranquility as she cuddles further into JJ’s chest, her fingers absentmindedly toying with his chest hair.
He moves underneath her, lips press into the top of her head and Kie lets out a content sigh. JJ starts to shift from under her, trying to gently move her onto the mattress.
Kie lets out a sleepy groan. ‘Don’t go.’
Not having the energy to open her eyes just yet she blindly reaches out and tries to pull him back to her.
‘I have to pee.’ He tells her with a small chuckle.
Her face twists up, ‘oh, then please go.’ She lets go of him and listens as he moves off the bed.
Her eyes flicker open briefly with the creak of the old wood floor and she spies him leaving the room.
‘Pale ass.’ She mumbles to him.
‘You love it.’ JJ throws back with a laugh.
Kie rolls onto her back and stretches out, revealing in the dreamy state she feels, in the satisfaction she feels from the slight ache between her thighs. She finally lets her eyes properly open and she looks out ahead of her, down to the perfect view of the beach, where their clothes and half empty beer bottles from the night before sit. playing the memories back in her mind, she lets her lips tug up in a smile, pushing back into the mattress.
She feels the side of the mattress dip as JJ comes back, he leans over her and slowly moves in to place a soft kiss to her lips.
‘Morning,’ he says against her lips, brushes their noses, and then drops another small, quick kiss to her before pulling away and laying down to her side.
Kie lets her head roll to the side, looks at him settle into the pillow, seeming just as content as her to linger in the moment.
‘Morning,’ she says finally.
Clutching the sheet to her chest Kie sits up, bringing her knees up to rest her shin on as she takes a proper look out at the waves.
‘They’re really building out there.’
It’s the perfect morning break, any other day she’s already be out there. Right now she has no desire to rush.
JJ hums in acknowledgment, she feels his hand reach out and his fingertips slowly trace up and down the exposed skin of her back.
‘You want to go out?’ She asks, turning her head to look at him.
All he does is shrug.
‘If you want.’ It’s not JJ’s usual answer when given the opportunity to surf.
‘You know what’s weird?’ He adds after a beat.
‘What?’
‘For the last two weeks I’ve wanted nothing more than to come here, have our own private beach and spend the whole time doing nothing but surfing. Now we’re here, and all I want is to just stay right here.’
Kie can’t help but smile, once again they are on the exact same wavelength.
‘Oh yeah,’ she turns her body so she’s facing him properly. ‘You want to just stay here in this bed?’
Her hand comes up to lightly graze along his bare thigh.
‘For how long?’
JJ grins. ‘All day. All week. The whole time.’
‘But surely we’d be bored,’ Kie plays dumb, enjoying toying with him. ‘I mean, what are we supposed to do for all that time in this small little bed, just the two of us?’
Reaching forward, JJ grips her hips and tugs her towards him. Kie’s small shriek turns into giggles as she lets him drag her onto his lap.
‘I’ve got a few things in mind,’ he smirks up at her once she settles in his lap.
Kie tucks her hair over one shoulder as she leans down towards him.
‘You’ll have to show me then.’ She says against his lips before connecting them.

Despite JJ’s insistence that he’s got plenty to eat right where they are, Kie decides that they need sustenance if they intend to spend the entire day making up for lost time. She pulls some mangos from the supply of fruits she bought at their stall before leaving and cuts them up.
Her and JJ sit in silence in the bed as they eat them. Without much thought Kie leans down to lick the dribble of mango juice trailing down her arm.
She looks up to find JJ staring intently, innocently she starts licking at her fingers, cleaning them up. When his cock starts to rise she loses all pretence of innocence and starts sucking her fingering into her mouth, hollowing out her checks as moves them in and out.
Eventually she tires of the teasing, JJ looks like he might just pass out if she keeps it up much longer. She moves onto him, only this time it’s not his fingers that she wraps her lips around. JJ lets out a long moan as she swirls her tongue.
For the first time ever she knows what JJ really tastes like. Sweeter than mango’s if you ask her.
***
She somehow ends up laying down the other side of the bed, all the sheets long since strewn about and abandoned on the floor. Kie props up slightly on her elbows, watching JJ and his pale white ass as he roots around in his backpack.
He presents the old altoid tin in victory and then makes his way back over to her. JJ lays down on his stomach, settinging in between her legs, and opens the tin up as it balances on her stomach.
Stroking his hair, Kie watches him carefully construct them a joint, the quick skilled work of his fingers entirely distracting.
JJ tosses the tin down onto the sheets when he’s done.
‘You know, I was thinking,’ Kie breaks the peaceful silence. ‘We’re going to have to tell the others about this.’
JJ places the finished joint in between his lips and speaks around it. ‘Why do we have to tell them anything?’
He almost seems annoyed by the idea, as he lights the joint up and takes a deep inhale.
Kie’s hand stops it’s gentle curling through his hair and her stomach drops, suddenly feeling like they might not be as on the same page as she thought.
‘Do you- Do you not want to tell them?’ She stammers over the words, half wishing he wasn’t laying on top of her right now so she could make a quick escape.
‘No.’ Passes the joint off to her and Kie takes a deep inhale, craving the comfort she needs. ‘I mean. No, that’s not what I meant.’ JJ is quick to correct himself.
He shrugs. ‘We don’t owe them a big announcement or anything. Besides, they already think we are sleeping together.’
Kie’s eyebrows jump up, this is the first she’s hearing about this. She passes the burning joint to him.
‘They do?’
‘Yeah, they don’t pester you constantly about it?’ JJ seems genuinely confused, as if this was some universally know fact that they both get teased by their friends about sleeping together. All she’s ever gotten is knowing looks from Sarah when she’s been caught watching him too long.
She always kind of thought that everyone knew about her thing for him, but had the decency to not bring it up, knowing she’d in no way want to talk about it, or even acknowledge it. But the fact that they apparently don’t think it’s just some unrequited crush but a secret affair is news to her.
‘No.’ Why don’t they?
‘Consider yourself lucky.’ JJ reches up and places the joint between her lips, like he knows she;s over thinking and needs to chill out. ‘I’ve been getting shit for years.’
‘For years?’ She’d really never thought JJ was actually into her for that long. Sure, it’s never been in question about his attraction to her, but having enough feelings to be able to be teased about it. How has she never noticed?
‘I guess it was obvious to everyone how I felt about you.’
‘Not to me. Not until last night.’ She stares down at him, slowly processing all this new information.
‘Really?’
‘Yeah. How long are we talking exactly.’
JJ shrugs. ‘The whole time really. I guess.’ He looks down at her stomach, watches his fingertips trace unrecognisable patterns in her skin rather than look at her.
‘I never noticed.’ She gives him an uneasy, tight lipped smile, even though he can’t see it. ‘I guess maybe I was so worried that people were noticing me.’
‘But there wasn’t anything to notice, right? Not back then.’ JJ looks back up at her, his eyes soft.
‘I mean not the whole time but, there was. I thought I was so obvious.’
‘For how long?’ He repeats her question back to her.
‘I don’t know. Sometime around the Coastal Voyage I guess.’
She remembers JJ in that container, sharing his fantasy with her, this fantasy. Their reality. And she thinks that way the moment it kind of hit her, that great big moment that just kind of went oh, there you are.
‘That long? Why didn’t you do anything?’
‘I don’t know. I guess I was scared.’ There was a reason she’d never tried to go there - here, she guesses.
‘I mean, you saw what me and pope we’re like. It almost ruined everything.’
JJ nods solemnly, and drops his gaze again.
‘For the record. This feels nothing like it did with Pope.’
She digs her fingers into his wild blond hair and makes him look at her.
‘I’m glad to hear it.’ HE says with a soft smile.
They silently pass the joint back and forth. JJ’s hands subconsciously wander over her body, not real goal in mind, she’s not even sure if he really realises he’s doing it. Kie leans her head back and closes her eyes, feeling light as air and letting all her other senses take over.
His finger brushes over her nipple and she lets out a soft moan, pushing into his touch. As quickly as it came it’s gone again.
‘Don’t stop,’ Kie breaths out.
She doesn’t need to open her eyes, to look at him to know he’s taking a moment to realise what exactly she’s talking about. But he figures it out, as his fingertips start lightly playing with her nipple. He starts placing small soft kisses to her stomach and it’s not long before he is venturing down lower.
JJ’s tongue licks at her slowly and lightly, in no real rush, taking his time like they’ve got all of it in the world. Which maybe they do.
Kie let’s him do what he wants, her head hanging over the end of the bed, joint resting in between her lips and her free hand playing with his hair, enjoying every blissful moment of her slow build.
He moves up her body when she finally cums. Pulling one of her legs over his hips and then rests his arms above her head. He slides into her with ease, and their lips never leave each other as he moves inside her with gentle deep thrusts.
Knowing exactly what she needs.

They do eventually go out on the water. There’s only so long they can ignore the call of the ocean. It’s late afternoon, the sun is starting to think about setting and she tells him that they can’t stay out too long.
She also tells him not a chance in hell when he insists that they don’t need to put clothes on - she thinks if he had his way they would never wear them again. But she draws the line at naked surfing.
The waves really are perfect, the day and all the conditions just falling perfectly into place.
They end up on the beach as the sun begins to set.
JJ laying down, Kie resting perpendicular to him, her head on his stomach. Their hands are up in the air as their fingers play together lasily, JJ preoccupies his other hand gently carding through her hair.
Kie can feel sleep start to take her over, the low light of the sunset, the weed and the exhaustion of the day making her eyelids feel heavy.
‘What do you think?’ JJ asks.
Kie lets out a sleepy moan in response, waiting for him to elaborate.
‘Does it make the top 10?’
Her lips tug up into a smile and she bites down on her lip.
‘Number one.’ She tells him, ‘Easy.’
‘Definitely.’
