---
Juleka had escaped the party, the flashing lights and loud music were a little bit too much for her at the moment. As she was strolling around the deserted school, she heard it, the faint music coming from a classroom.
It was captivating and her soul yearned for it, as if she’s been dancing with a lover to this song in a previous life. She felt the need to hear it more clearly.
After walking as quietly as she could towards where the music was coming from, she found herself outside a door. She was sure that it led to one of those spare classrooms that were completely empty, no desks in sight. The music was much louder now, even though muffled because of the door. But somehow even more captivating than earlier, dragging her in like a siren's song.
Juleka let a quiet sigh leave her lips, she couldn’t take her eyes off the door, she wanted- no, she needed to open it. To hear the music at full volume and to see the couple dancing under the moonlight.
She reached out and let the door open slightly, the hinges creaking masked by the music. Oh god the music. It hit her full force, like a strong gust of wind, almost making her fall over.
Her eyes widened in realization, it smelled like magic .
Juleka felt her eyes widen even more when she saw the couple dancing in the moonlight. It was Alix and Chloé. Engaged in a waltz that seemed like they were both leading at the same time, almost like two enemies on a battlefield. Both staring into each other's eyes, expressions filled with love, lust and disgust at the same time. She idly wondered how they ended up like this.
“Careful now” She heard Alix whisper clearly, as if her voice was cutting through the music with a knife, “Don’t stare too deep into my eyes, otherwise you might fall in love”
“You wish” Chloé scoffed, pressing closer to Alix making the shorter step backwards.
“You’re right” She says, spinning them around and lowering her into a dip, “I wish ”
Then she felt the sudden shift of timelines, her body buzzing as if she were bathing in pop-rocks. The pair was instantly at another location, but their positions were just as before. In the middle of a big ballroom filled with rich fancy people they danced. The designs around her made her realize that she probably was in the 1800’s.
Alix clad in a pristine forest green silk suit, her usually shocking pink hair now a dark brown, but still as unruly and short as usual. She looked different somehow… Almost like a young man.
And dancing with Alix was a breathtaking girl. Her hooped skirt swished around her with each dance step, pearly white and extravagant, fair too many details on it. Just as one would envision for a young noble such as Chloe Bourgeois.
Both of them wore giddy smiles on their faces. They looked so in love.
And in an instant Juleka felt the timelines shift back and she found herself in the doorway to the moonlit classroom, just as before, the air heavy with magic. Even if it was just for a moment, she felt the air get knocked out of her lungs.
“Sometimes when we dance like this I get a serious sense of deja vu”
“Yeah” Chloé breathed out, “Me too”
---
“And then I left”
“There’s certainly some pure tough magic bein' used there. Shall ah keek into it?”
“Sure”
