Chapter 1: Dark. Cold. Silent. Eerie.

Chapter Text

Dark. Cold. Silent. Eerie. It was all Andy could feel locked inside this barn. He thought this would just be some fun game. His friends told him this would just be some fun game. He doesn’t know about how his so-called friends feel about this ‘game’ now, but this certainly doesn’t feel fun to him anymore.

He had to make his way through the barn to find a different way out, but mostly to find his keys. Every time he descended down a level, the more dark, cold, silent, and eerie the barn would get.

He wanted to turn back, his gut was yelling at him to turn back, but he couldn’t, by all he knew it wouldn’t help.

He finally got to the lowest level, it was the darkest, it was the coldest, it was the most silent, it was the most eerie.

He wanted to cry or scream in fear, call out for his friends, but that wouldn’t help either. Not in the slightest.

“Turn back. Now.” He heard someone call out to him, the voice didn’t sound like any of his friends, or anyone he knew. He thought the silence was making him crazy, it had to be. By his knowledge, nobody was with him. He just ignored that voice.

Andy saw a lantern, he breathed a sigh in relief. At least I finally have some light. Andy thought to himself.

“Did you not hear me? I said, turn back. It’s not safe here.” Andy shook his head violently, like he was trying to get something out of his nonexistent ears.

“No no Andy, you’re just…getting a few screws loose, nothing to worry about…” Andy said to himself, slightly not sure if what he said was completely true.

“You are not hearing things, unfortunately. Now turn back, it’s for your own good.” Andy stopped. This was not his imagination.

“Wait…then who are you? WHAT are you?” Andy asked the mysterious voice. There was a short silence. Andy couldn’t explain why, but he could suddenly feel the voice’s presence.

“My identity isn’t important, what matters is that you run and hide before he- no. IT finds you.” Andy wasn’t satisfied with that answer.

“I won’t won’t leave until you tell me who you are, and who or what is so dangerous that I need to run from it.” Andy replied [A/N: shush I hc him as a sweet, but stubborn person]. He could slightly hear the voice sigh.

“Call me Tom. And let’s just say it doesn’t have the best intentions.” Andy couldn’t help but shiver at Tom’s comment.

He then saw Tom come into vision. Tom was, at most, transparent, with a faint, white glow, with a more opaque white outline, with tears of black from his eyes. Despite Andy not knowing what Tom even was, it looked like Tom was in misery.

“I guess I should get going now, whatever it is that’s going to get me…” Andy said, as he went to the exit. But before he reached it, his vision went black.

As Andy woke up, he felt dizzy and light-headed, his vision was blurry. He didn’t know where he was. He felt…off. Well actually, off would be a bit of an understatement. He saw someone in front of him.

As Andy’s vision came back to him, he noticed the person who was right in front of him. They were a pumpkin, with a green sweatshirt with overalls of a darker green, a few patches here and there. His face was blurred, but it’s noticeable enough for Andy to know where the eyes and mouth are, both of which are pitch black. Andy felt…afraid.

“W-who are you?” Andy managed to sputter out, he only received a chuckle in response.

I am everybody’s n i g h t m a r e.” The pumpkin said. Andy wanted to call for someone, anyone. And he did. He called for his friends, he called for Tom.

It’s no use to yell for help Andy, the others can’t hear you at the lowest level. And that pathetic man can’t help you now…” The pumpkin said. Andy only stayed silent. He was doomed to whatever this pumpkin had in store for him. He knew it.

He realized that he felt something on his neck, he only had to touch it since he couldn’t see his neck. It was a collar, which was harder than just the average leather, there were two lumps on the sides, with a weird-shaped hole in the middle. He didn’t know what it was, but he had a feeling he would grow to dislike it.

Finally…after all these months of trial and error, I can finally accomplish my goal!” The pumpkin exclaimed triumphant. He could hear the pumpkin let out a distorted cackle.

And by then…everyone will learn to fear me, The Entity…” Andy was confused on why someone would have such a name, but he didn’t dare question it. He heard The Entity giggle once more [A/N: srsly how much will this dude giggle fr].

And the best part is…” Andy noticed The Entity had a button, ready to press it.

I’ll have everything and everyone in my grasp.” The Entity then pressed the button.

The rest of what Andy felt could only be described as literal hell, screaming in sheer agony. The jolt of pain seemingly never stopping. He suddenly felt like his back was being ripped apart, and his arms…he didn’t even want to look at his arms. During this all, he felt like he was two people in one. But he couldn’t pay attention to that with the sharp pain he was feeling. Thick tears were falling down his face from the pain. He felt like he was being ripped apart and new parts were being sewn on him.

Before he thought things were going to get worse, the pain stopped, and his vision went black once again, the last thing he heard was The Entity’s dark cackle.

Sleep peacefully…Thomas.
