Castle of Diamonds, There's You and I

Summary:

It was the day where two souls were fated to meet. Two souls who were both dimly lit, not until it wandered and touched each other’s soul, it shone brighter than the sun. It was when they met.

Notes:

I'm back with another yuri fanfic, but this time it's surprisingly fluff. Even if I said I might do an angst one, anyway. I might do kokosara and then kronmei after. Hope you enjoy this one.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It wasn’t like Liana didn’t feel particularly free, but what can you really do in a school? It was suffocating, even more so than her own house. She felt forced, of course she would be.

Well, not until a certain person entered her life. She didn’t even expect it, but she just… managed to. Pretty impressive if you ask her. She was just like a butterfly; at first glance you’ll miss it, but when you get closer, you’ll see an impressive pair of good-looking wings. Alexa was exactly like that, and it caught her off-guard.

It gave her life a little bit of light, and it was warm, comfortable even, it wasn’t suffocating, unlike what she was usually used to.

It wasn’t like she was that impressive, but there was just this glow around the girl, and it was always captivating. To the point that the usually awkward Liana talked to her first, can you believe that?

The girl was unexpectedly shy, she was homeschooled, and was from a Christian family. Alexa was one of a kind, and she could already feel how gentle her aura was. It was calming, it felt like freedom.

Liana was always drawn to freedom, and just her luck, Alexa felt like freedom, but of course, that’s not really that much into it.

It was the day where two souls were fated to meet.  Two souls who were both dimly lit, not until it wandered and touched each other’s soul, it shone brighter than the sun. It was when they met.

**

It was just like any other, with the exception of another student being announced. It caught Liana’s attention, only for a moment though. She didn’t hear the transferee’s name. She didn’t even bother looking up or doing so.

She continued doodling, until she heard a familiar voice. It was like she heard it a hundred or thousands of times, she looked up.

Only to be found staring at the new girl, she had tanned skin and brunette hair. She was captivated, her breath hitched. She felt pulled, captivated and was drawn towards the tanned girl.

She found herself staring, until she felt the need to look away. Of course, just as expected, the cliché troupe happened, teal eyes made eye contact with her. And surely, she felt a warm feeling beneath her cheeks, slowly spreading out.

She was caught staring, and those teal orbs filled with curiosity, staring at her intensely. It felt like years, Liana finally looked away, and released the breath that she didn’t know she was holding. Her skin felt like she was burning, it was truly something.

Something waiting to be explored, an adventure. It left Liana at awe, she felt brunette’s silent gaze at her. ‘Please look away, it’s… distracting, please.’ She silently hoped.

The teacher started talking again, talking about where the transferee student would be sitting.

Fortunately, Liana’s seatmates were full, and she was safe. Her heart, at least. She didn’t notice how fast it was beating when she held eye contact with the transferee, she still didn’t know the girl’s name though, disappointed, she sighed.

The teacher continued her lecture, staring with a quick recap, it was quickly drawn out to Liana’s other ear as she doodled on her paper.

She felt someone staring at her, she instantly knew who it was. It was her, the transferee. There was something between them, it was weird, and the feeling was strange but comforting. She shouldn’t feel this from strangers, no?

The word “soulmates” came up in her head, it was like a sign, the gears worked in her head. Then it clicked, was it really true though? She couldn’t figure it out, all she had to do was explore. And exploring she shall.

**

That was the first time they had an eye contact. That was the first interaction, was it really called interaction though? Not quite. It was the start of the many firsts.

**

The usual friendly girl was struggling to talk to the transferee. She finally knows her name though, it was Alexa. Sure, it was quite common, but for a common name, she was unique. One of a kind, she thinks.

It took her a lot of tries to find the perfect timing, and when she did, she was stuck in a quite unusual place.

She looked up, staring at the girl in front of her, stretching her hands. Alexa was offering her hand to Liana.

Liana quickly took the offer, and muttered a quiet but pained thanks. She was panicking inside, of course she would be. It was an accident; this wasn’t meant to happen. ‘This wasn’t part of the plan,’ she thinks.

“Are you okay?” Alexa asked, her voice trembling, it felt like it was going to break into a million, different feelings bottling up. Guilt was evident in her teal eyes.

“I-I think I’m okay.” Liana replied, trying to act as normal as possible. Of course, that wouldn’t work, her hands were shaking, this wasn’t part of the plan.

“I’m so sorry for bumping at you, I really didn’t mean to. I’m so sorry, please forgive me.” Alexa closed her eyes, her palms pressed together. It was a sight to behold, Liana’s cheeks flushed.

“It’s okay, the coffee didn’t really hurt much.” Liana flinched, that was a lie, it hurt a lot. Her skin was still burning from the boiling water, but this was still a result she didn’t think would happen.

“Are you sure? You look like you’re in a lot of pain. If anything, I think I should treat you a coffee. You spilled yours because of me, after all. Please give me a chance.” The way Alexa phrased “please give me a chance” made Liana look away, she pretended to think.

Deep inside she was panicking, and clearly over-analyzing the situation. It took a while for her to calm down, but she eventually did.

She agreed, although reluctantly. It was the start of a spark, and it was all because of an accident. Alexa smiled at her, and said, “Thank you, I know a perfect café for this.”

Alexa reached for the latter’s hand, and held it tight. “I’ll lead the way.” She said, not noticing the blush spreading in the other girl’s cheeks. Her hands were warm, it felt perfect, perfectly fitting of Liana’s hands.

Liana can only sigh, and let herself get pulled, stiffly walking with Alexa. It was one of a kind, a feeling to remember.

It only took them a few minutes to reach the said café. Liana was in awe; this was a café that she’s never seen before. It felt cozy, and warm. It had a comfortable air within it.

“Wow.” It was the only thing Liana said, and it made Alexa giggle. Her giggles were like music, and sure enough, it turned into a full-blast laughter. It didn’t take a while for Liana to laugh as well.

It felt comfortable, and then they stopped. It was silent again, but in a good way.

“So, what’s your first period?”

“What’s your first period?”

They looked at each other, baffled, and then it turned into a jinx battle. ‘She’s cute.’ Liana thought as she laughed with Alexa. Accidentally making eye contact with her, Liana stopped laughing and felt her cheeks getting warmer each second.

“Hey, are you okay?” A concerned voice managed to get her out of tranced state. She shook her head, and said, “Yeah, I’m all good. Nothing wrong here, nope!” Uhuh, nothing wrong here.

Alexa eyed her suspiciously, but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. She then ordered their coffee for them, and a bit of snacks.

“Is this your first time being out with someone in a café?” Liana asked, and looked at the girl in front of her.

“Yeah, how about yours? Is it?” The brunette replied, curiously looking back at the girl who asked her the very same question.

“Well, this is also my first, by that being alone with someone without other friends, that is.” Liana and Alexa held eye contact, and stayed for a minute, until they notice what they were doing. They both looked away.

It didn’t take long for the order to arrive. It was immediately given and Liana ate her part, as if she was a wolf, hungered to death.

“You sure are hungry, huh?” Interrupted by the voice, Liana looked up from her food and faced the person in front of her. She finished chewing before talking, of course.

“Well, my only breakfast was my coffee, but the accident happened.” She replied, chuckling a bit as she brushed the napkin against her cheek, clearing the crumbs.

Alexa gulped as she glanced down at Liana, she looked pretty when smiling, even more so when eating gracefully. She was moving like a princess, and it sure looked beautiful.

It was when Liana looked at her phone and her eyes instantly widened. “WE’RE GOING TO BE LIKE FOR CLASSES! WE ONLY HAVE 10 MINUTES.” She panicked yelled-whisper to Alexa.

Alexa’s smile fell, and gulped. “Let’s hurry up, I know a shortcut.” The moment the word shortcut was dropped, Alexa immediately pressed her lips in a thin line, hoping that Liana wouldn’t notice.

Fortunately for Alexa, the blonde was finishing her breakfast. She then stood and then offered her hand to the brunette. “Let’s go?” Liana asked, with her eyes looking at her sharply. Alexa nodded and grabbed the hand in front of her. They quickly ran towards the shortcut, and Liana wasn’t in the proper mind to question where they were going.

Even if they took the shortcut, they were still surely late for about 15-20 minutes, which honestly sucked. ‘It was worth it though.’ Liana thought, she genuinely had fun with Alexa and wished they’ll have more of these moments.

They arrived at their respectful classes around 17 minutes of being late. They both sat as if nothing happened, with a wide grin for Liana and a happy expression from Alexa.

That was their second interaction, and it continues on to more, and more. Liana can’t wait for how many memories they’ll make together. As friends, or perhaps as lovers.

She blushed at the thought, and as if Alexa heard her in the other classroom, the brunette felt a sudden chill in her spine. A warm feeling spreading onto her cheeks. Startled by this, she let out a wild, “EH?!” and was immediately shut by her teacher.

**

Then it came, the day where they had the same class. It was something Alexa had been looking forward to. She realized that she didn’t have Liana’s phone number. It was something she was lacking, but then again, it was only the third time they interacted.

Liana was running late today, her alarm clock failed to work, but she had a few spare minutes to come to class. It didn’t take long for her to stand in front of the class door, she was panting and everything.

She had a few minutes to spare, that being said, she looked around the classroom, trying to find something or rather, someone. After she spotted who she was aiming for, she immediately went to where Alexa was sitting.

“Hey.” She said.

“Hey yourself,” Alexa chuckled, then continues. “I’m still surprised on how you managed to get to class with like, 3 minutes to spare. That’s impressive, if I say so myself.”

“Even I am surprised, but since I have a master plan, I carefully calculated the time I would use and immediately knew that I’ll have 3 minutes to spare. Totally.” Liana says, in a completely serious face. This made Alexa laugh, and Liana just stared at her.

Alexa stopped laughing when someone shushed her, it was a sight to see. She looked away when Alexa opened her eyes.

“Right, sure you do. Anyway, I noticed that I didn’t really have your number. So… If I may, can I have your number?” Alexa asked, with her cheeks slightly blushing, and her eyes looking anywhere other than Liana’s.

‘She’s really cute, and… my number? Really? Ah, so cute.’ Liana thought, and when they made eye contact, they both looked away.

“Sure, here’s my number, text or call me whenever you want to.” Liana brushed her hair that was covering her face, and smiled at the girl in front of her.

The brunette was about to talk when the teacher walked in class. She had no choice but to listen, but before that, she sent the blonde a smile and muttered, “I’ll text you.”

There it was, the exchanging contacts, the second step.

The class finished and they were given a quiz for the next day. Liana’s head were in the clouds, so she barely understood. It was clear from the way her face looked that she was clearly troubled and confused.

She didn’t understand, what had happened? What was the lesson about? She was nearly crying until she received a message from Alexa.

> Hey, you okay?

I’m not sure, I wasn’t listening in class. <

> Do you need help? I was taking notes; we can study together if you want.

Can we really? I don’t want to fail this subject. <

> Yeah, where are we going to study and what time?

Preferably around 3pm, and at the library. <

> Alright then, but I don’t really know the way to the library.

How about we’ll meet in the cafeteria then let’s go there together? <

Liana looked up and saw Alexa staring at her. Liana signed 2:45pm and Alexa agreed.

‘This feels just like a date, really.’ She thought, and immediately blushed after. It was… new to her. It was something strange but welcomed.

On the other hand, Alexa was excited. She can finally show off her intellect. Something she was always proud of, and she’ll show it to her first friend in this school. It was cool, she was excited.

Though, the word friend didn’t fit nicely in her mouth, it was like something is missing, but she decided to ignore it rather than paying more attention.

It didn’t take long until it was time to meet up, Liana was early for 15 minutes, waiting for Alexa, but it seems like both of them didn’t want to burden each other. After 5 minutes had passed, Alexa also was in the cafeteria. They immediately spotted each other.

“So, did we both have the same idea?”

“Yep, we had the same idea, although you were earlier than me.” Alexa chuckled. ‘She really didn’t want to fail, huh?’ She thought, while looking at the blonde.

“Let’s go to the library, I really need to catch up.” Liana said, and grabbed Alexa’s hand, pulling her along her. The library wasn’t really that far, it only took a few minutes. Around 7 minutes, they reached the library.

The library was quiet, peaceful and comforting. There wasn’t much students, and if there was, they were almost leaving.

“Well, let’s get started then.”

And that they did, they spent a few hours learning, until Liana felt sleepy. She was almost falling asleep and hopefully Alexa didn’t notice.

Alexa didn’t notice the blonde falling asleep next to her, as she continued explaining. Until she felt the table move and a slight thud was heard. She looked at the girl and chuckled at the sight. Her eyes were tightly closed, and her body moving slightly.

She sighed, and fixed their school supplies. Alexa spent 15 minutes staring at the girl in front of her, admiring her beauty, until it was time for closing.

She shook the girl and then whispered, “Hey, how was your sleep? We have to go now; the library is closing.”

Liana moved a little bit, and slightly opened her eyes. She sees someone huge, and was startled a bit. She eventually calmed down as she realized who she was with, until she remembered that she fell asleep.

Her cheeks went on fire, she was embarrassed. So embarrassed, she buried her face in her palms. Liana heard a giggle from the brunette.

“You’re cute, but we have to go now. It’s closing.” Alexa stood up and offered her hand to the embarrassed girl.

“Alright, thanks for today.” Liana said as she took the girl’s hand. They started walking outside the library, and stopped for a little.

“You’re welcome, let’s do it again sometime. If you have time that is.” There was a bit of silence when Alexa asked this, it made her nervous.

It took quite a while for Liana to make up her mind, but she eventually did. “Is that a plan? I’m in.” She said, smiling at the girl besides her.

They giggled their way back home, the entire walk was entertaining, and it was one of the moments Alexa will never forget about.

That was their third interaction, one that would Liana would always look back to. It was when they got closer, clearly a sign for something much, much more.

**

Time really flies fast, back then, they were only high-school students. Now, they’re all grown up. Living together and living their dreams. All their problems, all their sacrifices, they’re finally here. Together that is.

“Liana darling, you’ve been smiling the entire time. Are you enjoying your time?” Alexa asks, clearly concerned over her girlfriend. She’s concerned about her cheeks being stretched so widely ever since they started this picnic.

“Yeah, I am. You already know how much I love being with you, and I’ve been reminiscing about our high-school days.” These simple words that were dropped made Alexa blush, she still has the same affect to her, that Liana.

“Heh, those were the fun days, but I’m glad we lasted this far.” Alexa laughed. Liana frowned, and said “We’re going to last until we’re old, I’m sure of it. I want to make it happen after all.” Alexa laughed harder when she said this.

She pouted and replied, “Can’t believe you actually dated me on our final year in high-school. That took a lot of time huh, but it was all worth it in the end.” She giggles at the end though. It was dorky and soft. So soft, so cute.

“Of course, it was worth it.” ‘It was always worth it.’ Alexa thinks.

There was a slight pause. Liana looked at the person next to her and whispered the words, “I love you, my soulmate, my lover.” She went closer, her nose touching Alexa’s. Forehead touching, and her hands, one placed near Alexa’s neck and another one at her waist.

“I love you too, darling, but really? Soulmate is quite cheesy though.” Even if she was contradicting Liana’s words, she kissed her. Her lips touching Liana’s lips, filled with love and passion. Liana’s lips were always soft and a bit wet. It was something she was used to, something comforting.

Liana melted into the kiss, enjoying it. It was one of the best moments of her life, whenever Alexa and her shares a kiss. She deepened the kiss and that was it.

That’s when they finally knew that, they were indeed soulmates. Not because fate said so, but because they made it work. And they will always make it work.

They were always drawn to each other, being pulled underneath the moonlight, with only them. A story where Liana will always find her Alexa. A story where two souls would always meet, for eternity. In any other lifetime, it was always Liana and Alexa.

The reason for me writing this is because my friends and I watched barbie movies and then I had the urge to write, and my friend pushed me to. So here is the outcome.
