Chapter Text
Dramatic Solutions
I stare down at Longwei’s blueprint that was laid out messily across his desk in his room. He gives Azula a big grin as she looks over the plan next to me. The plan was for a solution to finally enter Omashu, the floating city some of the soldiers call it from how it was surrounded by cliffs, which was just a bridge made of iron. Azula looks over it with an impressed glint in her eyes. I only thin my lips, seeing it was something I thought of with only a slight difference.
“Didn’t I say we make a bridge across the ravine that’s around Omashu?” I mumble out with my arms crossing, my mask in one hand. Azula gives me a glance with one brow rising.
“Did you? I would have remembered if you did” she hums out and I roll my eyes. Here we go again with the ‘perfect’ memory thing.
“It’s been more than a year since I said it” I grumble back with a smirk. She titles her head slightly and lightly grazes my hand, a hidden show of affection we started doing around our friends.
“Yet I have a better memory than you, so either you came up with it now or you dreamed it up like a few other things” she drawls out and I pout. She can’t just bring out the first hand kissing thing, even if we both know she did it all on purpose. That’s an illegal move.
“You claim that, yet I remember saying it” I whine out and Longwei chuckles some and getting both of our attention back to him.
“If you did sis, all you had at the time was wood and earthbenders would just hurl boulders to break it” he says with a shrug and I sigh.
“Well yeah but like are we sharing the same brain along with our blood?” I mumble out and motion between the both of us. He gets a teasing glint in his eyes.
“I think you’re giving yourself too much credit” he drawls out and Azula gives a deep sigh as I make a croaked gasp.
“Wha- but I’m smart” I huff back and puff out my chest with a raised chin. Longwei lightly punches my shoulder as he gives me a big grin.
“Not smart enough to be an engineer” he singsongs and I give an exaggerated glare as I move my hands to my hips. Azula moves a hand to her brow.
“Who came up with the tank idea?” I drawl out and he gives a huge gasp while moving a hand to his heart.
“Not me but I made it to where it’s actually useful” he huffs back and I gesture to him.
“See? You’re not smart enough to be an inventor” I chirp out and Azula tsks her tongue to get our attention.
“To think I wouldn’t have thought someone could be even more dramatic than Zuzu, yet the both of you proved me wrong” she groans out and both Longwei and I give each other a side glance before he leans closer to me.
“Azula being wrong? Is Agni hiding behind the moon?” he whisper yells by my ear and I give a small nod.
“It must be if she said it out loud” I gasp out and Azula gives the both of us an annoyed glare while a hand moves to her hip.
“You two aren’t even trying to whisper” she grumbles out and I can’t stop the chuckle I let out. She rolls her eyes when Longwei joins in.
“You know that’s just how I am Dragon” I drawl out and she rolls her eyes but I can see a small smile on her face.
“Yes yes. Can we get back on track?” she hums out and Longwei nods his head before rolling up the blueprint.
“I would need dimensions before sending the materials and builders to the camp you two carved out during your campaign there” he says and places the blueprint in a drawer with a red colored string wrapped around the handle.
“I can personally send a request for that. Do you know the cost?” Azula hums and he gives a strained smile.
“Ugh, that’s someone else’s job” he stresses out and I give a smirk.
“In better terms, he’s not smart enough” I chirp out and he once again gives a dramatic gasp.
“I much prefer to use my brain power for something else than finances” he grumbles out while crossing his arms. Azula acts like she didn’t see what happened there and waves for me to follow as she turns towards the door.
“Very well. Come on Foxy, I have another meeting before we can train” she says as I quickly make my way to her side with Longwei snickering behind us. I give a glare and he looks over to the wall while whistling. I give a huff before closing the door and putting on my mask.
“But we were going to train some before it” I mumble out and Azula gives a sigh.
“Then Longwei found us and showed us a perfect solution to finish what we fought for so hard in the campaign. I do think skipping a small training session was fine wasn’t it?” she hums out and my lips thin behind my mask. Azula gains that glimpse I know all to well, the one that says see? I’m right.
“…Yeah, but we can train longer, right?” I plead and she gives me a firm stare.
“No, don’t try to slip out of eating dinner” she deadpans and my shoulders sag as I give out a long whine. She rolls her eyes with a small smile before she leads me to her meeting room.
