Pocketing her phone and shoving her hands into her pockets, Natsu looked up at the restaurant she and Miwa were about to enter. It looked relatively new in comparison to the shops around, but it had a country vibe to it. It definitely stood out and the pictures of onigiri on their menu was a huge attention grabber. It seemed as though they sold onigiris larger than Natsu’s hand and that was something the two women were interested in.

Stepping in, they were greeted with the aroma of freshly cooked rice and nice warm air. It was perfect after a cold walk in the snow.

“Welcome to Onirigi Miya! Please have a seat.”

The two turned to the man behind the counter. He greeted them as he washed his hands in the sink before moving to the register to take their orders. They figured he was the owner since his nametag read ‘Miya’. Then again, he looked relatively young. He was probably closer to Tobio and Shouyou’s age rather than Miwa’s age.

They decided to take a seat right beside the counter, the closest they could get to the onigiri displays. Natsu was pretty sure they were going to order the extra large onigiris but still wanted to bring some back to her hotel room afterwards.

As they picked out their onigiris, Miwa decided to order some sake and Natsu completely understood why. They had quite a frustrating night dealing with their very dumb brothers. The man behind the counter chuckled at the look Miwa had when she asked for a bottle of sake and told them he'd get it to them as soon as possible.

What a considerate man.

“What are we going to do with them, Natchan?”

“Pray?”

“I’m not religious.”

“Neither am I but only divine intervention can pull their heads out of their asses.”

Miwa somberly agreed with the younger one. Their brothers were two dense men that refused to make the first move.

Tobio and Shouyou have been dating for over a decade and that was the crux of all their problems. They were still dating . Miwa and Natsu would not mind if the two did not want to get married. If that was their choice then they would respect it.

Except, that was far from what the two men wanted.

For five years, Miwa and Natsu had to sit through call after call about how their brothers wanted to get married but neither side wanted to be the one to make the first move. It was extremely ironic because they had that whole ‘point system’ and competitive energy. If anything, both women thought they would have gotten engaged once they were done with high school.

Except, the two idiots had turned proposing into a competition over the years but instead of the winner being whoever proposed first, the person would be losing . Something about ‘being the first to give in’ or something.

They had moments where they definitely tried to sabotage the other person into proposing first but it never worked. Then they’d call their sisters and whine because they ‘really wanted to marry their stupid boyfriend’.

Brothers. They couldn’t stand them.

In the midst of their wallowing, the owner (part time worker?) came up to give them their fresh onigiris and sake. Instead of walking away, he simply leant against the counter and asked them what was wrong. It was a slow night and he couldn’t help but hear that it involved their ‘dumb brothers’. He mentioned knowing a thing or two about those.

“Our brothers want to get married but don’t want to do anything about it.”

“Why?”

“Because they’re hopeless.”

The man snorted and threw the towel he had on his hand over his shoulder and got comfortable. He had a feeling that it was going to be a good story.

As the woman started to explain what was happening (and slowly getting louder from the exasperation and the sake), some things started to click into the man’s mind. Their brothers were high school sweethearts, one of them had gone to Brazil for training and both of them were professional athletes. Perhaps he was wrong, but he couldn’t help but ask.

“Sorry… Are your brothers Shouyou-kun and Tobio-kun by any chance?”

The two women immediately paused and looked at him in horror. They completely forgot that their brothers were the ones to recommend that restaurant to them. It should have registered in their brains that it was likely because the men were regular customers.

“Please don’t tell them we came here to drink and complain about their love lives.”

“Oh, don’t worry about that. Now that I know who y’all were talking about, I completely agree. They’re dumb as fuck. I’ve been to one of their failed proposals before and it was a wreck. It was the one where Tobio-kun tried to put a ring into his own cake at the restaurant so that Shouyou-kun had to propose because there were so many people watching and Shouyou-kun ended up just eating the ring?”

Natsu grabbed the sake from Miwa to drink it for herself. That memory was a rough one because her brother had ended up in the hospital but they forgot to give out the details. So she had rushed over to Tokyo with their mother only to find her brother laying on the hospital bed perfectly fine . He just had a ring inside him somewhere that he later shat out.

After watching the women for a moment, the owner nodded and silently went to get another bottle of sake along with another sake cup for himself.

“Let me in on this. My brother’s real stupid too. Y’all probably know him.”

“Your brother? Is he an athlete too?”

“Yeah. Real proud of the scrub, but I still think he should have gone into theatre. Dramatic little fuck.”

“Ah. He must be your little brother?”

The man sighed a little too loud before pouring the women more sake then drinking his own. The two sisters recognized that sigh a little too much.

“No, which was a mistake. He beat me by a few seconds. Probably kicked me in the face when he was tryna get out of the womb.”

“Wait, a few seconds? You guys are twins?”

“Ye. His name’s Miya Atsumu. I’m Miya Osamu, but y’all should probably call me Osamu. It’s easier”

Natsu and Miwa had to take a second to process the information. They were very familiar with Atsumu, they were aware Atsumu had a twin brother and they just realised that the restaurant they were in was called ‘Onigiri Miya ’. They could not believe their brains did not piece those things together, not even when they were still sober. Maybe they were more like their brothers than they thought.

The three of them continued talking about Tobio and Shouyou’s and their love lives. Apparently Shouyou had tried to ask Osamu to shove a ring into Tobio’s onigiri but Osamu refused to get involved in their feud. He had seen what happened to the middle blocker from Sendai Frogs that Shouyou had managed to rope into a scheme. Excluding MSBY or Adlers matches, Osamu hadn’t seen the man in Tokyo since then.

Miwa kept going on and on about how she wanted to pull her brother’s head out of his ass or shove him into making the first move and giving up on the competition. But if there was one thing the Kageyamas and Hinatas were known for, it was their stubbornness.

Osamu knew a thing or two about that.

“Tsumu’s the same. Dumb bitch’s in love with his teammate and his rival. I know his feelings are reciprocated but Tsumu won’t listen to me.”

“His teammate and rival? Nii-chan told me that Atsumu-san argues with Sakusa-san the most so I’m assuming it’s him?”

“Oh, yeah. He’s one of them. I meant his teammate and his rival as two separate people. Tsumu also likes Ushijima-san from the Adlers.”

Miwa sipped her sake a little too hard in shock that it went up her nose and she began coughing. Well, she did not see that coming. She had met Wakatoshi before. They’ve had dinner at Tobio and Shouyou’s apartment and Miwa remembered the man talk about ‘someone he fancied’. They did not go into detail but he did say that the person was on Shouyou’s team.

Huh. Interesting.

Natsu shot up in her seat and looked at the two with her bright, wide eyes and a grin. Either she came up with a really great idea or the alcohol was starting to kick in.

“Let’s meddle.”

It was probably both. She was smart but she was also a lightweight.

“Think about it. The boys aren’t going to do shit with their love lives. At this rate,

Nii-chan’s never going to give me a niece or nephew! Miwa-nee-san and Osamu-san, your brothers are just going to whine to you for many more years. Do we really want that?”

Both Miwa and Osamu’s eyes widened at the thought of their woes lasting for another few years. They knew their brothers well enough to realise that it was a very real possibility. Tobio was too stubborn to drop a competition and Atsumu was the type to pine over someone for a very long time.

Natsu was right. They had to do something. Not for their brothers but for their sanity.

Before they could begin brainstorming some ideas, Osamu noticed a woman sitting on the other end of the counter. He had been keeping an eye out on the other patrons in case they needed his assistance since, technically, he was still working. This meant that he had noticed her taking her headphones off a while ago and it just clicked that she was eavesdropping.

“Hey, Ma’am! D’ya wanna join in? Could use a sober mind.”

Osamu called out to her mostly as a joke. It was a little rude to eavesdrop but having been with Rintatou for a decade and married to him for four, he had become quite snoopy himself. So he understood.

Except, he did not think that the lady would take him literally . He expected her to be embarrassed for being caught and refuse the offer. Instead, the lady nodded, packed up her things and moved to sit beside Miwa. The two sisters looked to Osamu with eyes that were trying to ask him what on earth was he thinking.

Right. They didn’t know she was eavesdropping.

“I apologise for listening in, but I do believe I could be of some assistance to your scheme.”

“Really? You’ve got some experience playing matchmaker, ma’am?”

“No. But I am able to provide my two cents on your brother’s crush. At least, on one of them.”

Osamu quirked an eyebrow. The lady was strangely straightforward and wasn’t picking up on certain social cues (Miwa and Natsu staring at her and using their eyes to scream at Osamu for bringing a stranger to their table). She reminded him of someone but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

“Really? Which one.”

“I should probably introduce myself first. My name is Ushijima Watane. I believe that the ‘Ushijima’ you were speaking of earlier is my younger brother, Wakatoshi? Unless there was another Ushijima on the Adler’s roster. If there is, I apologise for the misunderstanding.”

Osamu and Natsu stared at the woman– Wakatoshi’s sister . That night was full of coincidences and surprises that they began to wonder if they were having a fever dream. Not only that, but the similarities were uncanny. It was quite scary.

Watane had long hair and was significantly smaller than Wakatoshi. Even for a woman, she was closer to Natsu’s stature and from what they knew, she was older than Wakatoshi. But their hair colour and facial features were almost identical. They were so close to putting Atsumu and Osamu to shame.

“Wait,” Miwa began as she finally got out of her stupor. She allowed herself a sip for sake to cope with the shock before continuing her question.

“I heard from Ushijima-san that you were in America?”

“I was. I have returned.”

“I can see that…”

Deciding to just roll with it, Osamu grabbed another sake cup for their new addition. He had a feeling the night was going to be easier to deal with if they were a little intoxicated. At least, if Watane wanted to drink. Either way, he felt like bringing her a cup was at the very least polite.

“What was the ‘two-cents’ you said you had earlier?”

“Oh. My brother seems to be infatuated with both Sakusa-san and Miya-san from MSBY. He told me a lot about them when we had our weekly calls before I flew back.”

“Woah! Did he go on and on about them like our brothers do?”

“Yes.”

“For hours?”

“For two minutes.”

Shrugging, the other three figured that was pretty long considering that they were talking about Wakatoshi. The man was truly a ‘show not tell’ kind of guy. It was still insane to think that someone related to one of the guys they were talking about was in the store.

As a joke, Osamu stood up and addressed the others inside the shop.

“Anyone else here wants to reveal that they are related to an MSBY or an Adlers athlete, too?”

Natsu giggled at Osamu’s exclamation. There were only three others in the shop, one of them being Osamu’s own husband watching some Netflix show in the back while waiting for Osamu to finish up.

One of the three customers finished their onigiri, picked up her bag and stood up. For a moment, Osamu was worried that he was a little too disruptive but before he could apologise, the woman walked up to take a seat beside Natsu.

“I couldn’t help but listen in either. But I love meddling in my little brother’s life.”

The lady tucked her wavy black hair behind her ears, exposing her two beauty marks and dark brown eyes. She was gorgeous . Both Miwa and Natsu had a harder time coping with the fact that a gorgeous woman was sitting beside them than the fact that she knew someone they had talked about that day.

Osamu was a little less hypnotised by the woman’s fox-like smile so he processed things a lot faster than the sapphics.

“If Ushijima-san here is … Well, Ushijima-san’s sister, Miwa-san is Tobio-kun’s sister and Natsu-chan’s is Shouyou-kun’s… I really hope yer mine and Tsumu’s long lost sister or something ‘cause if not then this shit is creepy.”

“You’re such a cutie, but I’m pretty sure I don’t have twin brothers.”

The stranger eyed the bottle of sake in front of Miwa and Osamu figured she was going to need a sake cup too. Heck, he needed another bottle so might as well kill two birds with one stone.

When he got back with the goods, she smiled at him and he knew where he had seen that smile. It was rare, very rare, but he had seen it before and he was grieving .

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sakusa Kimiko.”

Watane politely introduced herself, Natsu and Miwa stuttered over how pretty her name was and Osamu hid his face in his hands.

Yup. Definitely going to be a long night.
