Chapter Text
If one were to question where his attraction lay days prior to the present, Gundham would undoubtedly cackle in their faces and insult their wit for even daring to say anybody is worthy of being loved by Gundham Tanaka. Ruthless gods of his kind simply have no time to spare in their temporary visits to the living realm, especially not those of trivial matters such as love.
To him and his seemingly unbreakable pride’s anguish, that sentiment seems to have unknowingly shifted overnight.
Now, those who know of Gundham and his absolute power would assure you that his attraction lay in one of the many beautiful women that lived on the island. For instance, the Dark Queen herself, Sonia Nevermind. Sonia was the spitting image of the word “gorgeous”, and Gundham was no stranger to that belief.
Many issues arise with this hasty assumption, though. The first contradiction is how the she-chat is a part of the feminine species finding themself only attracted to those who do not identify as men, also known as “lesbians” to simple humans. The second fault lies in the fact that Gundham himself would never permit himself to feel such puzzling emotions towards one he would now consider that of a comrade, though not nearing his status.
Putting the she-chat out of the picture, Gundham would never find himself lusting over any other female acquaintances he is in contact with.
So, who in this cursed world could’ve possibly plucked at Gundham’s poisonous heartstrings?
A certain pink-haired mortal by the name of Kazuichi Souda.
The forbidden begged and pleaded that those of omniscient eyes do not giggle and guffaw over his disgraceful choice in mankind, despite the ludicrous actuality of his current situation which one would shamefully admit to. After all, in this story’s final chapter—the play's grand finale, the melancholic curtain call—Gundham Tanaka was the Supreme Overlord of Ice. He was a demon delivered to earth to visit those of humankind, tasked to never fall into the ploy that was human emotions at all costs.
So how and why was his childish, disobedient heart finding itself throbbing at the call of midnight for what was no more than a pathetic mortal that could not even perceive ideals of ever reaching Gundham’s caliber?
To put it in terms that lowly mortals could understand, the gender the pink cretin aligned himself with was of no issue to this boggling affair. Demons such as himself had no business in the burden of “sexuality” that mortals found themself in. Who the Supreme Overlord of Ice loves, which so happened to be those male beings, is of no matter to humans.
Yet, the princess that holds an affiliation with the devils gaped at his distressed expression when informed of the dire situation.
“Gundham… you—“
“Please, she-cat, halt your cries of disapproval for I am not at fault!” Gundham interrupted before Sonia could state anything. “T-the cupid of arrow has pierced my soul deeper than one can imagine, and now I find myself in this fragile state. The inferior, eye-burning mortal must be an undercover assassin sent from faraway lands meant to weaken my resolve for my enemies to strike! How silly of me to let my guard down and not be aware of the lurking dangers this island holds. I promise that I, Gundham T—“
Ignoring the stumbling of words and errors near the start of the rant, Sonia put her hand on Gundham’s shoulder to stop his panicked rambling. “I command you to halt and breathe!”
Hiding his blushing face behind his scarf, Gundham did as instructed and took a deep breath.
“In simple words, what you’re telling me is…” Sonia paused for a second to think, still trying to process Gundham’s words, “you’ve found yourself falling in love with Souda?”
Gundham sputtered at the bluntness of her words. “S-She-cat! Lower your voice, for mortals, may be able to feast their ears in our dialogue!”
“Gundham, may I remind you that it’s 12 AM?” Sonia reassured the flustered man. “I doubt anyone would be listening to our conversation at this time.”
“Must I remind you that you must not let your defenses lower at any point in your life?” Gundham rebutted cautiously. “Gaze upon what has become of my treacherous soul for being a momentary buffoon!”
“Are you that afraid of others hearing?” Sonia questioned harmlessly, to which Gundham almost physically recoiled in embarrassment.
“N-NO! Gundham Tanaka would never falter against words of half-wits inhabiting this island!”
The princess knew that statement was a bluff due to Gundham’s distressed face slightly visible under the gentle moonlight shining on Jabberwock park. “There’s no need to fear, Gundham! I’m sure everyone is already aware of this development.”
..Excuse me?
What was supposed to be a sentence to uplift Gundham’s mood instead caused his face to drop almost instantly in pure horror. It was as if he saw the lives of the 4 Dark Devas flash before his eyes. The only noise that could be heard was the crickets chirping throughout the park for a silence that seemed to last forever.
“The mortals are aware of WHAT?”
