Chapter Text
Unfortunately, while they had done that, the last of the remaining toppats had taken the escape pod with the cracked window, and they were long gone.
And, looking around, there were no more escape pods left.
Henry’s stomach falls as the realization hits.
They were stuck there.
And they were gonna die.
He slowly looks to Charles, seeing pure terror on his face.
Henry then sighs, slumping against the wall.
“Well… I guess that’s it then…” He says slowly, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor. “We’ve done all we can do…”
After a minute or two, Charles sits next to him.
“Well hey, we got 'em, though…” he says with a little smile.
Henry smiles softly. “Yeah… I guess we did…”
He scoots a little closer.
Charles puts a hand on his. “Hey henry?”
Henry looks at him. “Yeah?”
Charles looks him in the eye.
“I love you.”
Henry blushes, smiling.
“I love you too Charles… you were my bold action man.”
Charles laughs, smiling brightly. “Thanks.”
Henry takes his chin gently, leaning in to kiss him.
Charles moves his hand to hold Henry's waist as they share the tender moment together.
Suddenly, the robotic voice blared over the speakers.
“TEN SECONDS TO SELF DESTRUCT.”
Then Charles suddenly gets an idea.
“TEN.”
He pulls back, looking at henry.
“NINE.”
“Wait, Henry, don’t you have a teleporter?”
“EIGHT.”
Henry remembered it, looking down. “Yeah, but that thing never worked.”
“SEVEN.”
Charles grabs his shoulders. “I don’t care, use it anyway! It’s our last chance!”
“SIX.”
Henry shakily sighs. “Alright fine, hold onto me!”
“FIVE.”
Charles hugs him tightly. “Ok do it now!”
“FOUR.”
Henry reaches into his pocket and pulls out the green device with the red button.
“THREE.”
He takes a deep breath. “Here goes nothing…”
“TWO.”
He presses the button.
“ONE.”
KABOOM.
The explosion of the space station could be heard galaxies away.
…
On earth, somewhere in a desert in the middle of nowhere, a green lighting portal opened up, spitting the two stickmen out of it, landing them in the sand.
After a minute or two, Henry sits up, coughing a bit.
Beside him, Charles sat up too, slowly opening his eyes and looking around.
“H-henry…?”
Henry looks at him, eyes wide.
“Charles….”
Charles smiles slowly, putting his hand on Henry's.
“We made it…”
Henry slowly tears up.
“Yeah… we did…”
Charles stands up, helping Henry up. “The teleporter… it actually worked!”
Henry cries happily. “We made it…”
“WE MADE IT!”
The two of them laugh and squeal in pure joy and ecstasy, hugging each other tight. Henry picks Charles up and spins him around a few times before setting him down, looking in his eyes.
“I can’t believe it actually worked…” He says, laughing. “I was sure we’d end up in another dimension or something…”
Charles laughs. “Well, we didn’t…” he says. “This sure looks like earth.”
Henry giggles softly and wipes his eyes. “charles… “
He hugs him tightly again. “God…. i thought that was IT for us…” he says, nuzzling his shoulder.
Charles comforts him, stroking his back. “Hey… hey… it’s ok… we’re ok…”
They remain that way for a few moments.
Henry then pulls back, cupping Charles's face.
“We made it because of you, you know…” he says with a smile.
“I’d never thought of using the teleporter until you suggested it…”
He giggles. “If you hadn’t come up with that idea, we’d be space bits right now…”
Charles laughed. “Aw hen, don’t give ME all the credit. You’re the one who pressed the button.”
Henry strokes his cheek. “Still… you’re a miracle, charles…”
He looks deeply into his emerald green eyes.
“My miracle…”
Charles smiled wider than Henry had ever seen him, before lunging forward, tackle-kissing him on the lips.
Henry moved to wrap his arms around Charles's waist, and Charles wrapped his around Henry's neck.
They kissed passionately for a few minutes, savoring the moment.
Even though they’d kissed many times before, Henry always felt that each one tasted a little sweeter than the last.
When they finally pull away, Charles's eyes sparkle. “So are you.”
Henry giggles. “Thanks.”
After a minute or so of looking in each other’s eyes, Charles realizes something.
“Sooo, uh…. How are we gonna get back?”
Henry’s spine goes cold. “Oh, gee, i… hadn’t thought about that… who knows how far away the base is…”
Charles looks scared. “Oh no, the guys back at base must be worried sick about us…”
Henry nods. “Does your radio still work?” he asks.
Charles tries to turn his headset on, only to hear static, “Aw man, my headphones don’t work…” he says sadly.
Henry sighs. “Oh well.”
He looks into the distance. “Looks like we’re gonna have to walk for a bit…”
Charles sighs. “Dang it…”
Henry laughs a bit, patting his shoulder. “Well, the sooner we get going, the sooner we get there.”
Charles smiled a little. “Yeah, I guess so…”
So, the two of them are gonna have to trek across the desert for god knows how long.
But Henry wasn’t worried.
If he and Charles survived an exploding space station together… they could survive anything together.
The two put their arms around each other, walking off.
“Hey henry?”
“Yeah?”
Charles smiled. “It was a pretty good plan, right?”
Henry nods, smiling back. “Yeah, it was one of your best.”
Charles gives him his famous smile and a wink.
“I guess you could say it was the greatest plan!”
Henry giggles, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“Maybe it was even better.”
