Mark is standing at the counter, making some coffee.
Alec comes in in that moment, looking agitated.
ALEC
I'm so fucking late!
He quickly puts on his suit jacket and reaches one of the cupboards.
MARK
(amused)
Good morning to you too, babe.
Alec opens the cupboard and takes out a packet of biscuits.
ALEC
Sorry, love.
He gives him a kiss on his lips, then takes out a biscuit form the packet and puts it in his mouth.
MARK
Coffee is almost ready.
Alec shakes his head and swallows the biscuit quickly.
ALEC
I don't have time, I have to go.
MARK
Babe, come on-
ALEC
(nervously)
No, seriously. We are so understaffed
it's ridiculous-

Alec eats the biscuit and reaches the console table, taking the keys.
Daisy rushes in in that moment.

Sorry! I'm ready!!
Alec looks at her with a confused expression on his face.
ALEC

Daisy takes the red backpack hanging from the coat rack, quickly.
DAISY

They both become suddenly incredibly pale.
DAISY

Mark's car approaches and stops in front of the building.

Daisy grabs her backpack from the back seat, then leans towards Mark and gives him a big kiss on his cheek.

She gets out of the car and waves to him. Mark waves back.
He waits for her to enter the building, then drives away.
As soon as he reaches the main road, his phone on the phone holder starts ringing.
He glances at the screen and sees Ellie's name. He frowns a little and answers, turning on the speakerphone.

Ellie?
ALEC (O.S.)
(on the phone)

MARK
Oh! Hey, babe... everything okay?

Mark smiles a little in amusement.

Mark walks into the station and smiles at a cop at the entrance.

The cop looks up and smiles back.
BENNY
Oh, hi Mark! What brings you
here? Is everything okay?
MARK
Yeah, I just need to drop
something off for Alec.
BENNY
Sure, he's upstairs.
MARK
Thank you.
Mark starts climbing the stairs.
INT. POLICE STATION, FIRST FLOOR - MOMENTS LATER
Mark reaches the first floor and walks towards the main room.
Suddenly, the sound of agitate voices makes him slow down his pace.
WOMAN (O.S.)
... Sir, I promise I-
ALEC (O.S.)
No, keep your mouth shut!
Mark blinks a little and reaches the door with a questioning expression on his face.
INT. POLICE STATION, MAIN ROOM - CONTINUOUS
He enters the room and stops.
Alec, Ellie and a young WOMAN (a DC) are in the middle of a conversation.
Both Alec and Ellie look angry. Everyone else in the room is watching them in complete silence; the tension is palpable.
ALEC
We have a suspect in custody
and you cannot be here!
The young DC hesitates; she looks deeply embarrassed.
WOMAN
I understand-
ALEC
Oh, really? Really?! You understand
how royally you might have screwed
this investigation?!
Alec is really pissed.
ALEC
If we find out the attacker has any
connection to you, this will never
stand up in court! And you will have
to answer not only to me, not only
to Chief Jenkinson, but to everyone
that he's attacked!!
The woman lowers her gaze.
ALEC
Now, get out!!
She hesitates for a moment, then swallows and leaves.
Mark watches her walk away.
Alec swears under his breath and looks around to the rest of the officers.

The show is over! Go back to work!
Everyone goes immediately back to work.
Mark waits for a moment, then walks towards Alec and Ellie.

(to Ellie)

They turn around and look at him. Alec's expression softens immediately.

Mark smiles to them and hands the phone to Alec, who takes it with a sigh.

In that moment, someone knocks at the door.
Alec sighs, annoyed, and lets Mark go.

The same officer from before opens the door and gives him an unsure look.

I'm sorry to bother you, sir. They
are all ready for the interrogation.
ALEC
I'll be there in a moment.
The officer nods and leaves the office, closing the door behind him.
Alec snorts.

He grabs his chin and gives him a small kiss.

Mark walks towards the door.
