Work Text:
As the sun rose from the horizon, its rays of light leaked through the crack of a curtain, landing on two sleeping lovers. Whose limbs are tangled together, their breathing synchronized. Two souls yearning to become one. The residents of the Golden village had so kindly prepared a couple rooms for the chosen adventurers to stay the night. Much to Chilchuck’s benefit Marcille, Izutsumi, and Senshi had decided to sleep in the same room. It was one door over from the room Laios and Chilchuck chose to reside in—Or else Chilchuck would not have slipped into the same bed with Laios, showing such a public display of affection.
Chilchuck blinks awake and finds himself in the comfort of his boyfriend’s arms, which are hung loosely around his waist. He can’t help but admire how beautiful and peaceful his boyfriend looks as he’s being bathed in the golden rays. Laios has become so anxious as of late; repeatedly having his eyebrows furrowed, worrying about Falin and the party’s possible banishment of the dungeon, due to their use of black magic. Not right now though.
Hm, this is nice, Chilchuck thinks. He wonders if it could always be this way; being woken up by slivers of dawn escaping through the curtains and the soft songs of birds. The first thing he would see in the morning being his clingy dog of a boyfriend, Laios, and his big, calloused, hands gently on Chilchuck’s skin.
The sunlight quickly became too much for the tallman as Laios’ face contorts, his eyebrows furrowing and a slight pout forming on his face. He lets out a small whine of annoyance. It takes everything in Chilchuck to not give into his cuteness aggression. Instead, Chilchuck sits up on his elbow providing shade for Laios’ eyes. He puts a hand in Laios’ blonde hair and begins to scratch at his scalp, trying his best to soothe him back to sleep. It stops the stirring, but Chilchuck gets pulled closer and Laios nuzzles his face into his chest, humming in contentment. Chilchuck’s heart squeezes with affection. What a dog, Chilchuck thinks with a fond smile pulling on his lips.
Some might find their relationship surprising—aside from the obvious fact that they’re a tall-man and half-foot—their personalities are so different. Though Laios never treated him as such, not like a child or as something expendable. Laios treated him like a person. Laios never forces him to do something he doesn’t want to. He doesn’t coddle him as if he were a child, like Marcille and Senshi do, or get in the way of his work. Matter of fact, he doesn’t see him as a child at all. He never had to beg for his respect like he did with the others. Laios already held him in high regard. It even surprised Chilchuck with how quickly he let himself trust Laios, even becoming fond of the younger man. But how could he not? How could he not get pulled in by sweet, sincere eyes and unwavering trust?
Unwavering trust…Chilchuck muses, still scratching and petting Laios’ hair. Being a picklock I could easily get us killed and he just trusts me so easily. That’s gonna get you killed again, you idiot. He tugs slightly at Laios’ short hair to emphasize the ‘idiot’ part of his thoughts, but quickly soothes the spot. It earns him a small whine from the man beneath his hand.
Trusting people that easy.
Chilchuck's hand stops petting Laios’ hair and goes down to cradle his cheek, gently rubbing his cheekbone with his thumb. It worked out a bit though, didn’t it?
Chilchuck's ears twitch. He hears the faint thumping of pans hitting a stove. He turns his head in the direction of the sound and his nose flares at the vague smell of pancakes filling his nose and smoke. Senshi’s probably already up cooking breakfast.
He turns back to his lover and instead of smacking Laios’ face until he wakes up, like he always does when the rest of the party is around, he decides to gently draw shapes on his cheeks with his finger. He runs his fingers along in little swirls and loop-de-loops across his nose bridge, little hearts and stars on the apple of his cheeks until the younger man starts to stir.
“That tickles.”
Chilchuck would never admit it, but Laios’ morning voice always does things to him. It’s so deep and gravelly, it makes heat boil deep down inside Chilchuck.
“Laios,” he whispers, voice coated with fondness and affection. Brown eyes meeting gilded ones. Laios is looking up at him through half-lidded eyes, but he closes them again to nuzzle his face in the crook of Chilchuck's neck, pulling himself impossibly closer to the half-foot. Chilchuck starts to feel a large hand slip underneath his shirt and begin to scratch his back gently, in soothing circular motions. Chilchuck lets out a pleased hum. If Laios could climb inside of Chilchuck’s shirt, he definitely would.
“Whaddya doing, Chil?” Laios says into Chilchuck’s neck, leaving a small chaste kiss to the skin there. His heart flips at the use of his first name and the domesticity of it all.
“Waking you up, you dog. I can hear Senshi making breakfast.”
Laios pulls away slightly and his eyes study Chilchuck's face with a sickenly sweet smile and soft eyes that exude adoration. It makes Chilchuck’s heart nearly pop out of his chest. He’s still not used to being so openly admired.
Oh god, how this boy wears his heart on his sleeve, Chilchuck thinks. Laios props himself up to go in for a proper kiss on the lips, but before their lips could meet Chilchuck pushes his face away.
“Ew, Laios, no. You have morning breath,” He teases, faking a grimace. Laios pouts, giving him the most pathetic pair of puppy dog eyes Chilchuck has ever seen. He almost looks like a puppy with its tail between its legs. Chilchuck’s so-called “disgusted” expression turns into his signature shit-eating grin.
“C’mon, baby don’t make that face.” he coos rubbing his thumb across Laios’ cheek again, before leaning over to give him a quick kiss on the lips. Chilchuck tries to pull away, but Laios chases after his lips, going back in to give him two sweet kisses before pulling away for real. His eyes flutter open and then he’s beaming at Chilchuck, earning himself a soft laugh from the older man. If Laios had a tail, it would be wagging like crazy.
The soothing hand on Chilchuck’s back retreats and he frowns. Chilchuck is about to whine out a protest when Laios grabs his wrist and pins it next to his head. Laios goes to hover over him and starts peppering his face in kisses, interlocking their fingers.
“Wha- Laios! You idiot, stop!!” he says through fits of laughter, absolutely no venom behind his words. Laios gives Chilchuck one last big kiss to his cheek before pulling away. Laios scans his face for any sign of discomfort, but there’s none. Chilchuck makes a weak attempt to scowl, but ultimately fails to hide the smile creeping on his lips. Laios starts to lean back in for another kiss when the smell of food fills his nose. Laios sits up, still holding Chilchuck’s hand.
“Ah, it smells so good. C’mon, Chil, let’s go,” Laios exclaims, excitedly.
Now it’s Chilchuck’s turn to be needy.
When Laios lets go of Chil’s hand and attempts to move over him. Chilchuck wraps his legs around Laios’ waist, the best he can, to keep him from moving any further. Chilchuck pouts as his hands travel up and down Laios’ shoulders and biceps.
“No. Don’t leave.”
“What? Why” Laios asks, concerned. “What’s wrong, Chil?”
Chilchuck turns his head, so he doesn’t have to meet Laios in the eyes. “Once we go out there, this ends until the next time we’re alone.”
“This?” Laios questions, leaning over to meet the older man’s eyes. He’s cocking his head to the side in a way Chilchuck would normally find cute; but instead he rolls his eyes, slightly agitated. It’s already hard enough for him to open up, now he has to spell it out for him.
“Us, Laios! The kissing, the hand-holding,” Chilchuck replies with a small pout. “I don’t want it to end. I don't want to go back to just looking like friends in front of the others.”
“Oh,” Laios says, his mouth turning into an “O” shape. “I mean, we could always tell them, but I know it’s hard for you though—being vulnerable and all that.”
“No, I don't want to tell them directly yet, but I think I'm ready to lean into it a bit.”
“Yeah?”
Chilchuck gives him a sheepish nod, blushing profusely.
Laios gives him a warm smile that Chilchuck can't resist. He pulls Laios’ neck down for a kiss. When their lips meet Chilchuck goes pliant. The kiss was slow and languid, letting himself get lost in the sensation of kissing his lover. Laios’ tongue was big in Chilchuck’s mouth, but he didn't care. He basked in the feeling of Laios. His tongue lapped at the inside of Chilchuck’s mouth, exploring and tasting every inch. Laios goes to pull away and Chilchuck whines, pulling the collar of his shirt and bringing Laios back down.
“One more,” Chilchuck mewls, almost pathetically. Without breaking the kiss, Laios wraps his hands underneath Chilchuck’s back and lifts him up. Laios shifts their position so Laios is sitting down on the bed with Chilchuck on his lap. Laios rubs his thumbs in soft circles on Chilchuck’s side from underneath his shirt. This time when Laios pulls away, a spit string connects their lips.
“Ugh, gross.”
“I still can’t believe they let me milk a minotaur,” Laios remarks, excitedly, while wiping the saliva off of Chilchuck’s chin with his sleeve. Chilchuck scowls. A mixture of disgusted, confused, and offended plastered on his face.
“Really, Laios? You’re thinking about milking a minotaur while kissing me?” Chilchuck raises his voice, slapping Laios’ bicep.
“I was just reflecting! Both of these things made me so happy. I really like kissing you and I learned so much— like how the minotaurs have udders, but unlike the cows on the surface their udders are on—”
“Save it, will you? You can talk all about it when we meet the rest of the party at breakfast.” Chilchuck interrupts, squishing Laios’ face with his hands, before snickering. “Besides I wanna see Marcille’s face when you tell her your minotaur trivia.”
Chilchuck continues to pinch and squish Laios’ cheeks, pecking his lips every now and then. His eyes trail up to Laios’ hair. It’s sticking up in every direction, absolutely disheveled. Cute. Chilchuck reaches up to smooth it out. “You have crazy bed head.”
“Yeah?” Laios breathes out. He looks up at Chilchuck through heartfelt half-lidded eyes, and a dopey smile that melts Chilchuck’s insides. Laios leans over to tenderly rub Chil’s nose against his. The delicate act of love causes Chilchuck to turn crimson, from the tips of his ears down to the base of his neck. Chilchuck is almost sure even Laios can hear his own heart pounding against his ribcage, trying to leap out of his chest and into Laios’ hands. He knows Laios would hold it dear, protecting it with every fiber in his being. God he's going to kill me. Look what he’s doing to me. Turning me into some love-sick, sappy fool.
Chilchuck’s heart is set on this man and it fills him with so much emotion. He feels tears prickling at his eyes. He scoffs before muttering out a watery, “You idiot.”
Chilchuck drops his head into the crook of Laios’ neck, trying the best he can to calm his intense blush. While Laios goes back to rubbing circles on his back. When he’s satisfied that his blush went away and he calmed his hammering heart, he speaks again. “Let’s go eat, big boy.”
He crawls out of Laios' lap, slipping his hand in Laios’ as they walk hand in hand to the dining table of the Golden Castle. He doesn’t care if Marcille teases him, because Laios’ animated smile makes it all worth it.
