based on the prompt "keep your eyes open for me".

Work Text:

Evan is trying to focus, he really is, swear. But it’s been a long twenty-four at the 118, and as much as he wants to spend every second of the night focused on Tommy, there’s just something about the way it feels when his eyes slip shut and his body sinks into the mattress. It feels even better with the heat of his larger boyfriend draped over his body, lips on his neck, sucking hard enough that there will be evidence when he’s finished, but soft enough that he’s managing to keep Evan just this side of conscious.

Tommy’s body sinks against his and he lets out a soft, guttural moan out of the back of his throat at the way the heat of his boyfriend’s body combines with the weight of him on top of him and it puts Evan into a world of bliss he hasn’t been able to quantify since day one of their relationship. There’s something about this tangible connection between them; how it feels inside of his chest when Tommy’s fingers are running over his body, down his triceps and biceps, along his ribs, over his hips, finding themselves between his thighs and gently nudging them outward with just enough force that it makes Evan sigh.

He’d always heard people make comments about two people fitting together like puzzle pieces; how they could just fit into one another’s lives, metaphorically and physically. He’d even thought at one point, that maybe he had that with Taylor, around the time he’d gone to see her when she went to see her father, but there was always something in the midst of that relationship that kept him from fully investing. It had taken him a long time to understand what that was.

But then, in the aftermath of it all, he could never forget the comment she’d made to him one time on a call, the guy who wouldn’t come off of his roof. “You ever think you just need to be patient? Let the universe come to you?” He hadn’t known what that meant at the time, but when he’d crawled in bed after Tommy had kissed him the first time all those months ago, it suddenly made sense. Because in all the time that had passed since then, in all the ways he and Tommy fit into each other’s lives, both interpersonally and physically—especially physically—it made sense to him all of a sudden. Nobody and nothing had ever fit the way he thought they should because Tommy did. He fit into their forged family as though he’d always been there. His arms slotted around Evan’s waist, fingers interlaced like they had been there all along. His mouth found the curve of Evan’s neck as though the lines of his lips had been imprinted into Evan’s skin from birth.

Tommy’s teeth come down on his windpipe, biting down just hard enough to make him mewl beneath the stronger man and Evan’s eyes ease open, looking up at his boyfriend through hooded eyes as Tommy leans back up, then comes back down, brushing his nose up against Evan’s and then his lips are grazing over, not quite making full contact, but it’s just enough to leave Evan wanting more.

“You’re so beautiful like this,” Tommy murmurs as he turns his head to bite down on the hinge of Evan’s jaw, gently pushing his thighs up just a few inches more and then he’s sliding inside of Evan, slotting them together perfectly and Evan’s eyes go wide as Tommy fills him and the moan that slides its way out of his mouth as he turns into Tommy has his boyfriend releasing his bite on Evan’s jaw. Evan turns into him, finding Tommy’s lips in the dark, clinging to his triceps as they rock together, neither racing towards anything other than the physical connection and all of the feelings it elicits between them.

Their lips break apart in search of oxygen and Evan drops his head back, streams of broken moans and soft cries falling out of him as Tommy occasionally adjusts his angle, dragging along inside him just right, and then there are actual tears at the intensity of it all. He turns his head away, tilts his head up when Tommy’s lips are on his neck again, this time on the right side. He can feel it building inside of him and he wants the moment with such desperation, always wants to feel Tommy everywhere on him, in him, over him.

Tommy comes up off his neck and lifts a hand to his cheek, turning Evan’s head back towards him as he rolls his hip in a measured movement, just enough to make Evan’s eyes go wide again as he chokes out another cry.

“Keep your eyes open for me,” Tommy rasps, his thumb brushing over Evan’s bottom lip as he rocks out of him gently. “Okay?”

Evan nods, words unavailable to him as another tear slides down his cheek while Tommy rocks back into him. Tommy reaches up with his thumb and brushes it away before leaning down and kissing the same spot, so soft and with so much love and tenderness, it makes Evan sob.

“Tommy,” he mewls. “I can’t hold on much longer.”

Tommy grazes his lips over Evan’s, nuzzling his nose once more before he leans back up and brushes his free hand through Evan’s curls.

“Don’t have to baby,” he replies as their eyes lock. “Just let go. I have you.”

Evan whimpers, digging his nails into the back of Tommy’s triceps as they continue to stare at one another in complete wonder, wanton, adoration. And then his orgasm hits him, and Tommy leans down and kisses him, drinking in all of his cries as Evan clings to him through it, like he’s a drowning kitten in search of dry land.

He’s just coming out of it when Tommy’s lips let go of his and he rests his forehead on Evan’s, soft grunts coming from him that tells Evan he’s right there. Evan slides his hands up to Tommy’s face, still sucking in his own deep breaths, but holding him in place and looking up at him as Tommy crests over and climaxes, still inside of him. It makes Evan whimper again.

Slowly, gently, Tommy eases his legs back down, and then eases himself down on top of Evan as his head slides onto the pillow under Evan’s head. Evan slips his arms around Tommy’s neck, fingers carding into his hair as he guides Tommy through the end of his orgasm, until he can finally turn his head and look at Evan, breathing evened out once more.

“We should do that more often,” Evan rasps, the corners of his mouth pulling as his eyes drop to Tommy’s lips.

“I mean I would love to, but someone gets a little too eager,” Tommy teases. He leans in and pecks Evan quickly before grazing his lips against his birthmark. Evan sighs and leans into him. Tommy’s arm curls around the back of his skull, holding him close as Evan’s eyes slip shut once more.

Yeah. They were right. Some people do fit like perfect puzzle pieces.
