What is Arts and Crafts?

Summary:

After consulting Folder for some ideas, Contact Lens and Tray scamper to find Airline Food for some arts and crafts.

Notes:

Random thought: Since Airline Food was in a plane when he was brought to the plane, did he get transported to a random spot in the sky when he got eliminated?

Alternative: What's the deal with Airline Foo-

Btw I used rich text for the first time, idk how well it translates when copy pasting from Google docs, so hopefully it's all good!

“Airline Food!” Tray shouted, jogging over to the black container. “Airline Food!” Contact Lens was in tow, running beside her.

He was sitting alone, staring at the grass floor. He looked at them quizzically.

“Airline Food!” Tray caught her breath as the pair stopped beside him. “Can we borrow your rice?”

Strange request. “Why?”

“We asked Folder what human couples do.” Contact Lens started.

“And one of the things he mentioned was arts and crafts!” Tray finished.

Airline Food snickered, raising a brow in confusion. “..Alright. But.. what does that have to do with my rice?”

“We could make little sculptures out of them!” She beamed. “Can we?”

“Ohhh, I see. Sure.” He pulled off his cover. “Mind if I make some stuff with you guys?”

Contact Lens and Tray sat down. “Sure.” She nodded.

“Of course.” He replied.

“Thanks.” Airline Food grabbed the sticky rice from inside himself, then handed the two a handful of rice.

All three began individually crafting something from their clumps of sticky rice.

“You know,” Airline Food broke the silence, carefully crafting something. “I think it's really cool you guys are trying to be like a human couple.”

“Thanks.” Contact Lens smiled, not looking up. “It's really fun.”

Tray chuckled. “It is. I.. I can't believe how good it feels..! Like.. it's this really soft feeling in your chest.” She laughed softly, unsure how to explain it.

“Mhm!”

Airline Food hummed, intrigued. “I haven't really seen any human couples before, but it's kind of inspiring to see you two so happy together.” He glanced up. “Makes me want to do the same.”

“It's worth a shot!” She looked up at him. They made eye contact. “Is there anyone you want to experience it with?”

“Uh, I dunno.” He responded quickly, turning his attention back down. “Atom is my closest friend, but he's a.. guy, so.. I guess it wouldn't work.” He shrugged.

“Aw. That's too bad. I bet if he was a girl, you two would make a really cute couple. Maybe you could ask Bassy instead?” Airline Food shrugged in response.

“I mean, two guy couples exist.” Contact Lens commented.

“Huh?” Airline Food raised a brow.

“I saw a few of them before. My human didn't seem to like them, though.”

“Oh.”

Things went silent as everyone focused on crafting.

“I finished.” Tray announced.

“Ooh, lemme see!” Contact Lens excitedly looked up from his own project. She still had a giant wad of sticky rice left. Her sculpture was small; it resembled Contact Lens. He smiled wide, then looked up at Tray. “Is that me?”

She grinned, teeth showing. “Yep!”

“Aww, thank you!” He hugged her briefly.

“It's small and adorable, like you.”

He looked down at the leftover rice she had. “You have so much rice left.”

“That's okay.” She nodded. “I only wanted to make you.”

He blinked, then looked between her miniature sculpture of him, then at his own project. A lightbulb went off in his head. “Ooh, I know what you could do! Make a cake!” He suggested.

“Oh, okay.” She grabbed the rice with both hands. “Why, though?” She raised a brow, curious.

“You'll see.” He sat on his stomach and began focusing on his project, trying to get it done as fast as possible.

Well, a cake shouldn't be too hard. Tray began molding a rectangular piece of cake; something that she had seen at school one time. Curiously, she tried to look at what Contact Lens was making, but he playfully hid it from her.

She pouted. Instead, she looked at Airline Food. “What're you making?” He looked up at her. The sculpture he was making looked like himself. “Is that you?”

Airline Food shook his head. “No. This is my neighbor on the shelf I was on.”

“...”

“...”

“..Back at home?”

He curled his lip, looking down and focusing on getting a specific detail right. “Yep.”

“Done!” Contact Lens was on his feet.

Tray spirits lifted, eager. “Let me see!”

“Ta-da!” He proudly showed Tray the miniature sculpture of her.

“Aww! It's so cute!” She beamed.

“Yeah! Just like you!”

The compliment made her feel good. Really good. She giggled as a natural response.

“Did you make the cake?” He asked quickly.

“Oh!” Tray looked down at the rice in her hands. She quickly made a few adjustments to make the rice more cake-like. “Uh, yeah.” She set it down between them. It wasn't detailed, but Contact Lens didn't seem to care.

“Where's the mini me?”

Tray twisted and carefully grasped it. “Right here.”

“Okay. Put it on top of the cake.”

She obeyed, placing it on the center of the cake. Afterwards, Contact Lens placed the miniature version of her next to him, then linked their tiny hands together.

“There.” He stood up, putting his hands on his hips. He smiled down at it proudly.

Tray looked at it curiously. The vision of their mini versions holding hands was cute, but.. “Why did you need me to make a cake?” That part still wasn't clicking to her.

He made eye contact with her. “At the weddings my human attended, the cakes would have mini versions of the humans on top of it.”

“Oh.” Tray’s breath shallowed. She stared at it, wide eyed. “So.. this is a.. wedding cake..?”

“Mhm.” He nodded, laying down next to her.

“...”

“...”

Marriage. When two humans swear an oath to never leave the other’s side. Legally bound.

“..When do you think we'll get married?”

He hummed softly, gazing at the proverbial wedding cake with a carefree look. “I don't know.” He looked at her. “..Do you want to get married?”

Tray flushed at the sincerity of his question. She looked away, giggling nervously. “Ah-.. heheh..”

“Can I be your guys' best man, or whatever it is?” Airline Food butted in.

Contact Lens kicked his legs lightly behind him, both his hands on his cheeks. “Sure.”

“Yeah!” He cheered, excited. He placed his sculpture by their cake. “I pronounce you husband and wife.” He spoke in an exaggerated tone. He bowed, gesturing at the pair.

Contact Lens chuckled, amused. Tray felt really embarrassed, but a large smile forced itself to be plastered on her face.

Airline Food grabbed the cake and figurines, placing them inside of him the way they were. “I’ll keep these safe until the wedding happens.” He smiled modestly.

“Alright!” Contact Lens exclaimed.

Tray chuckled. “Thanks, Airline Food.” She closed her eyes and smiled.

“You guys make a great couple.”

The pair looked into each other’s eyes.

They both had one thought flow through their minds.

Would I make a good husband?

Would I make a good wife?
