Chapter Text
Crestheart household
“RROOAARR”
“Ahhh!!” a girl, Tyla heard the alarm of a draconic roar, spooking her and making her fall out of bed. She groans and rubs her head. “Ughh, what time is it?” She looks at the clock, 7:30am, 90 minutes before the dragon egg ceremony was set to start! That got her attention.
“Oh, snap! It’s that day. I gotta get ready” She got back up and got dressed.
She put on brown shorts, a dark turquoise shirt with dragon emblems, brown work boots, her prized dragon necklace, and a ring with a gem on it. She ties up hair with some rope and put on the Dragon band, her standard outfit when she wasn’t working. The girl had orange hair, fair skin, and a few bumps and scratches from working in the Dragon clan from accidents and sometimes dealing with dragon pokemon (even getting bitten once, though she recovered and wished to forget what happened that day).
See, unlike most trainers, dragon clan members (who called themselves Dragoniers) fought alongside their pokemon, more like partners rather than trainer & pet (60/40 ratio) and so many trainers here get worn down, but take pride with their pokemon. Tyla had helped her parents with their dragons on occasion to understand how to take care of dragons which had caused incidents in the past, but it was part of her life as a dragon tamer: understanding and caring for this type of creature that worked with her clan.
She headed out, seeing her dad with a Salamance. “Morning dear, you ready for the big day” he called out after giving his Pokemon a breakfast. Which consisted of a miltank and a few sproinks.
“Hi dad, yeah I’m excited. I got a gift and everything for Bahamut, the grand dragon.” Tyla responded, with a present about the size of a Meowth in her hands.
Her father walked over and ruffled her hair with the salamance seeming to chuckle at this. “Aw shucks Ty, I’m sure she’ll see the bright flame we raised you to be. Now get going, I need to check Salamance up.”
“Thanks dad, hopeSammydoesn’tgetsickagainbyeeeee!” She called out before running off before he could mess her hair up again. And from the look of ‘sammy’, it likely wanted to lick her.
Along the way she saw others with their dragons. While the tribe did have their own containers for pokeballs, it was mainly for those who travelled beyond the Clan’s known land. When within what they maintained, it was customary to have pokemon travel alongside trainers.
Village square
After 10 minutes, Tyla made it to the square. One hut rested against a giant nest, and a circular pattern of Stones and dirt. The square appeared to be busier than usual as others around her age (and a few slightly older) were gathering around the village chief. They were about as bumped up as Tyla but no one seemed to be concerned, part of the to-be job after. Everyone was excited, and who wouldn’t be? They were gonna get their chance at a partnership with their own dragon pokemon. It was an honour!
Tyla sat herself down in the middle of the group. There was a bustling of chatter, with Tyla herself chatting with her childhood friend, Iris, mainly about what dragons they each hoped to to get. While Iris hoped to get an Axew, Tyla wished to get a goomy or jangmo-o.
The chief called out. “Settle down, everyone. Settle down!” It didn’t take long for them to do so.
“Right, now many of you are here to follow in the footsteps of what it means to be a ‘Dragon-ier’, to face the might of natures’ fiercest beasts, to stare the toughest our world can manage, and befriend them!” The monologue had the teenagers' attention. “So, to be bestowed with your pokemon and become a Dragon-ier, you will need to impress our guardian, Amber!”.
Behind the village hall, arose a mighty glow, in the shape of an un-specified dragon pokemon (some said it was a reincarnation of Ultra Necrozma, others saw a giant Salamance or Dragonite, or even the spirit of the great dragon from Unova, but no one ever found the truth. Tyla was unsure of it all, but she didn’t care right now due to the sense of awe at being near this grand creature) before it settled before them. Nearby, a nest of eggs floated to the side of the to-be Dragoniers, carried over by a couple Altaria. ( Greetings, my children ) the dragon apparation telepathically gave its message to those awaiting.
“Now, who wishes to be the first to bestow a blessing upon our guardian?” The chief calls out. Most were silent, unsure. Eventually, a hand went up, a red-headed person named Lance. “I’d like to start.” he walked over, handing a basket of a few sitrus berries.
The glowing dragon sniffed at the berries, and took one to chew. After a minute of deliberation, it spoke.
( This gift is worthy. Accept an egg ) Amber spoke, earning a grin from the boy
“Thanks, miss Amber!” Lance quickly went over to grab an egg, white with a few spots, mainly orange and light grey. As he went back to the group, the dragon looked back to the group, as though waiting for the next blessing.
For those who looked to prove themselves worthy, their blessings varied wildly. They ranged from berries, to cut up remains of non-dragon type pokemon, to speeches about who they were. Most got their dragon eggs, with some failing.
After the previous person, Amber looked to the few left.
Tyla was a little nervous. ‘If I’m gonna get my egg anyway, I might as well do it now’. With a steady breath, she raised her hand. The others looked to her.
“Ah, Tyla, was wondering when you’d raise your hand!” The chief cheerfully called out, with the light seeming to chuckle to himself.
After a moment, she got up and walked over with her blessings to the stump where the dragon sat. It was eerie to be watched by such an almighty being, despite its calm nature.
“Well, I-I-” Tyla tried to catch her voice but a voice caught the attention of everyone.
“INCOMING!!!”
Everyone looked to the sky and saw several blasts of electricity, ice and pixie dust(?) coming in fast towards the group. It was too fast to react as the village square was hit.
??? ???? Later
“Uggghhh..” Tyla was droning, trying to get up. The scene around her was a disaster. The nearby trees were either on fire, fallen over, or both. Several of her friends were in a panic with some badly injured. There even seemed to be several people in outfits of Dark blue and pink.
‘Bleh’ Tyla couldn’t help but mentally feel disgusted as pink wasn’t a colour usually seen aside from one or two dragon type species. The colour usually given to girls was blue (the boys got green).
Among everything that was going on, a magnezone slowly lowered from the sky with other people surrounding him as they slid down from ropes. She saw the head of the group standing on top of the pokemon (somehow. Given it seemed far harder to keep feet on the disc of a head than riding a big enough dragon)
They wore a flowing coat, Combat boots, firm gloves, and a helmet that was grander than the standard ones (that reminded her of the drawings of team cipher helmets she once saw from a member who joined after his home of the Orre region had been attacked.), All Pink and especially Navy blue
They stepped off with some help from a few magnetons before approaching the chief who seemed to be getting up, before being unable to go further than kneeling.
“W-whoooo, are you-u?” He muttered barely loud enough for the leader to hear. They seemed to chuckle as they chucked their pokeball to reveal- A Mega Mawile!? Indeed, and it even seemed to emenate dark energy
“You may call me Ogel, and we are simply here for your dragons.” They simply stated. It was hard to tell what gender was under a filter. “If you wish to live, cooperate. Or else” nearby one of the grunts threw his pokeball to summon a Steelix, while another did the same with a beartic, both with dark auras.
Things were tense as amber looked fierce at them but it wasn’t at full strength due to the earlier airstrike. Eventually the chief was able to stand up, albeit with wobbly legs.
“My loyalty isn’t sellable, these beasts are actual creatures, not tools as you seem to think.” he defiantly stated.
The field was silent for a bit. Ogel chuckled.
“What a shame. Guess we’ll need to demonstrate your foolishness.” they turned to subordinate with the Steelix ”john, show the power of our Omega pokemon”. With a nod from John they ordered the steelix to use ‘steel beam’.
While it was charging, Tyla looked shocked. They were trying to KILL CHIEF!! It may have been stupid but she wasn’t gonna just stand by. Picking up a stone nearby, she ran into the chaos
“Hey, Steel-face!!” She shouted, getting everyone’s attention. She threw the stone at the steelix, which while not hurting the Pokemon did seem to confuse it, leading to a misfire that causes more damage to the surrounding area. Major issue has made the only way in far more trouble to use, and everyone now faced her. ‘GGrreeat.’ she thought, seeing what situation she was in.
“Well, well. Another tribal tries to see something beyond their potential power. So, you wanna join your grandpa, or see your life above theirs.” Ogel mocked.
“No.”
…. “Sigh welp, guess you’re no smarter than they. Mawo, use Play Rough.” Ogel ordered. Tyla could start to feel the adrenaline starting to end and that mawile didn’t look friendly.
Before it can lurch, Amber unleashed a beam of golden energy between the two, leading to the area being hard to see. Among it she heard a voice.
“Amber, Get Tyla out of here, Now!” Chief called out. Tyla wanted to beg not to leave but she felt its tail grab and being surrounded in a gold aura
“Beartic, Use Blizzard!” was shouted over the chaos, and so the blizzard snow hits. However, after a bit, all they could see in the snow was an empty nest, and a man, finally spent, fell. The snow took up sound for a bit.
“... Sir, what do we do now?” one of the troops asked. Ogel didn’t seem to show emotion on his face, but his hands tightened, the one holding their pokeball at risk of cracking.
“John, take most of the members and hunt down where the great dragon and that pest of a girl could’ve been, she likely won’t go down without a fight. Steve, get one of your pokemon to take the chief with us. I have interest in what we could do with him.” Ogel ordered before walking back to the airship.
“ Sir, Yes Sir!!” they told by instinct, saluting. Most went with John, spreading throughout the island. Steve meanwhile, replaced his beartic with an Aggron and ordered it to carry the chief with Ogel onto the ship, to which it did. And so a torch was thrown onto the bush that once held light, which started to spread.
Jungle edge
A short distance away, light gathered to eventually reveal the dragon holding tyla by the tail, which she wasn’t happy about.
“Why did you just zoom away?! We need to rescue the chief!” Tyla argued before she was dropped to the ground, sitting down. She looks back up to see Amber give a look that shuts her up. It then seemed to soothe down.
Sigh (look, I know, but they have been so overwhelming that I needed to get you out. After all, you alongside the next generation need to leave so you can become a true Dragonier)” it told her. It also turns out there were three eggs that floated out of her jaw safely down to her. “You likely need a dragon to start your journey.”
Tyla was confused. “B-but I didn’t prove myself”. She protested, only to see it shake its head chuckling
(Oh dear, you did prove yourself, you defended the chief and I when that steelix was gonna kill him likely. I’d say you should choose.)
Tyla wanted to think, but there were some more explosions and smoke getting close so she grabbed at a random egg. Just then, the bush shook, before revealing some ghost (?) that looked very primal.
The grand dragon got between her and …it. (Get out of here, Now!) She ordered. Tyla wanted to argue but she booked it, hearing an intense fight but best to get out while she could.
After a few minutes of running, sometimes sneaking past some of those henchmen (tossing a stone for one of them did work this time), she finds herself on the edge of a high cliff.
‘Ok, this isn’t the end, just follow the coast line till I find a beach I can leave.’ That plan goes over the edge when she’s confronted by… a princess who’d been corrupted to the metal of a robot.
“Uhh, friends??” Tyla tried to get past it, only to see its eyes glow red and aim its arm cannon, already charging. “Magear!” it shouted.
“Eep!” she panicked, being chased back to the cliff as it was shot. Getting closer it charged again.
Looking around her, Tyla realises she won't be leaving in any way other than over the edge.
Breathing to get her strength, she jumps over the edge before the stone she was on breaks up to the laser. She holds tightly onto the egg, eyes closed and screaming. She hoped to be riding on a flying dragon at the last second but she instead hit the bottom of the cliff..
Back on top, Magearna looked over the edge, trying to scan for the dragon lover. It sensed nothing of her or the egg that she took with her. Marking the target as presumably dead, it makes its way back to its trainer since it was able to sense her when her partner didn’t for some reason…
Open ocean
She wasn’t sure how long it had been since she passed out from hitting the ocean, but the floor felt like a shell for some reason. However, as it turned out, it was one, left her to quickly sit up to try and gauge things.
The shell belonged to a Lapras, a pokemon who she’d seen helping to bring people and supplies to & from the island.
It looked back to her and generally seemed glad the human it rescued was doing alright, along with the egg on her person.
Tyla was a little worried but its calm face helped.
“Heh, glad I had you to help, but what happened to the island?” She asked.
Lapras gained a down face, and looked behind to encourage her to. She did and was shocked.
Her home was wildly on fire, ships flying off. It was probably best to head to the mainland to start a new journey, and potentially find out more of what that ‘omega force’ was doing with the dragons. Though she could use help.
“Hey Lapras,” she called out to the beast she was riding. It looked back to her. “Could you take me to the closest bit of safe land? I need to figure a plan to take down those bad people
The sea creature gave a stern nod
Amongst the moment, her egg starts to hatch, which catches her attention “Oh my Arceus, oh my Arceus!” she cheers
After a bit, she sees the crack grow to be broken by a heart-shaped scale. That then pops out to reveal a Jangmo-o. “Jang”. It called out.
And immediately she got stars in her eyes with a gasp. “Oh My ARKOOS!!” She screamed and immediately hugged the damn thing.
“YOu are So cute!” She continued to hug it to which it happily shook its scales, making sounds of its name. “Jang-o, Mo-jang”.
During the petting however, Anne turned back to all the excitement. “Lap.”
Jangmo-o immediately got defensive for his ‘mother’. “Jang”
Tyla needed to stop a potential fight. “Woah, woah, it’s ok, it's ok.” Tyla tried to calm him down. Jangmo-o looked back slightly confused. “This is anne. She saved us after we’d been pushed off the island, so I’d like if the two of you could get along, at least until we get somewhere more stable.” Tyla explained. Jangmo-o seemed to get and apologised, with lap taking it in stride before turning back to sailing the open sea.
“Phew, that was close. Anyway” She looked back at her dragon. “I do hope I can get you a pokéball. I can truly start my journey with you,.... “ She was having trouble coming up with a name. Then it hit her.
“... Mark.” The baby trilled, happily accepting.
And the two chilled as the transport Pokémon took them across the one sea Tyla had known for most of her life, hoping to ensure Mark would become strong enough to become the fearsome dragon she had dreamed of for her entire life…
