Work Text:

The soft rays of morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. Nayu, with his signature purple hair slightly messy from sleep, was nestled into Altus’s side. His long blue hair cascaded over the pillow, soft and untangled from the night. His easy laugh filled the room as he mumbled something about a dream involving a very dramatic spaghetti competition. Nayu just chuckled, still half-dazed, as he melted into his side.

It was one of those quiet mornings where they were content to just be near each other, no words needed—just warmth, comfort, and the occasional sleepy giggle from Altus.

But soon, Nayu’s stomach gave a loud protest. He couldn’t ignore it. He sighed, reluctantly pulling away from Altus’s grasp. "I’ll be right back," he whispered, lightly kissing his cheek as he slid out of bed. He padded down the hall to the kitchen, grabbing the coffee beans and setting the machine in motion.

As the coffee brewed, his phone buzzed. The screen lit up, displaying Lucien’s name. He picked it up with a soft smile.

"Hey, Luci," Nayu greeted, pulling the phone to his ear, his voice still a bit groggy.

"Morning, Nayu!" Lucien’s voice was warm, calm as always. "Just wanted to check in, see how things were going. Also, Cass and I finally—"

Suddenly, there was a loud, obnoxious laugh on the other end, followed by Lucien’s slightly more nervous voice. "Okay, not finally, but we’re official now, so... yeah. It’s been great, actually."

Nayu smiled, resting his hand against the counter as the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the room. "Oh, that’s awesome! I’m happy for you two. Cass’s been a good influence, huh?"

"Yeah, surprisingly," Lucien said, his voice light. "Though, I think I’ve started picking up on his bad habits. Like, he's always nagging me to drink more water. Can you believe that?"

Nayu laughed softly. "Hey, he’s just looking out for you."

There was a brief pause, and Nayu could hear Lucien shuffle, maybe moving to sit somewhere more comfortable.

"Anyway, speaking of looking out for people... how’s your morning going?" he asked, a small, uncertain edge creeping into his voice. "Altus okay? He’s been a bit quieter lately, you know."

Nayu chuckled, but his smile faded a little. "Yeah, he’s fine. Just a little sleepy today, I guess." He glanced at the clock. "Actually, I should probably get back before Altus realizes I’m not in bed."

Lucien paused. "Wait, what? Huh?"

"Never mind," Nayu muttered, quickly hanging up as he heard a shift from the bedroom. Altus was starting to stir.

He moved quietly back to their room, just in time to see Altus’s eyes flutter open, confused at the sudden absence. His long blue hair tangled in all directions as he groggily reached for him.

"Where’d you go?" His voice was sleepy, but there was a hint of something almost pouting in his tone.

Nayu smiled and slid back under the covers, trying to ease him back into the warmth of sleep. But Altus wasn't having it.

His arms wrapped around his waist, holding him tightly against him as he mumbled, "I don’t like when you leave in the mornings... It feels like I’m waking up alone."

Nayu stifled a laugh. "You were literally asleep just a second ago, Altus."

"But now I’m awake, and you’re not in bed," he groaned, his grip tightening slightly. "C’mon, you can’t just leave like that."

Nayu sighed dramatically, the giggle escaping before he could stop it. "Alright, alright. You’ve got me."

Altus held him tighter, not allowing even an inch of space. His voice was teasing but also... a little clingy. "You're not going anywhere this time."

Altus POV;

Nayu was gone. Gone.

I woke up, and I was alone.

‘No, no, no. He can't be gone.’

I reached out, barely opening my eyes, still foggy from sleep. I found nothing but cool sheets. He was really gone.

I whined. ‘I don't like this.’

I flopped over, rubbing my face with the pillow like some sort of half-awake animal. Where was he? Why wasn't he in bed?

Finally, I heard his footsteps. But no, he was already in the kitchen... again.

I grabbed his waist before he could even get back under the covers. "You're not leaving again," I mumbled, clutching him tighter. "Not today, Nayu. I'm not letting you go."

There was a quiet sigh, but it was the kind I knew meant he wasn't actually complaining. He probably found it cute, the way I got clingy in the mornings.

But I was serious. I wasn’t about to let him leave me alone in bed again.

Nayu was mine, and nothing was going to change that.
