(Updated 2/9/26):
Hello, everyone. Let's get on with this mission briefing. Originally, a project that was meant to started last year to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. However, I was forced to abandon it due to being focused on other projects and my personal life. Thankfully, this years marks Gundam Wing's 30th anniversary and Zeta's 40th. And with the recent premiere of the second movie in the Hathaway's Flash film adaptation trilogy, I have decided that now is a good time to recommission this project of mine--Mobile Suit Gundam: White Devil's Legacy - The Tale of Yoshiyuki Tomino's Universal Century.
The contents of this fic will be a cohesive and well-detailed recounting of the Universal Century Gundam timeline, using elements from every major Gundam installment that takes place in the mainline continuity of the Universal Century up until now. So, alternate universe series such as Mobile Fighter G Gundam, New Mobile Report Gundam Wing, After War Gundam X, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, or even any of the Build series won't be included in the series at all. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX won't also be included since it's pretty much of the "Klevin Timeline" of Gundam, given how much it diverges from the main U.C. timeline than others like Thunderbolt and Origin.
Also, I'll be also omitting two certain U.C.-related series in this timeline that'll probably bring up some controversy among some hardcore Gundam fans that'll be reading this--those two being Turn A Gundam and Gundam Reconguista in G (also known as G-Reco, because "Reconguista" is not an actual word). While these two series do have deep connections to the Universal Century with them both being written by the franchise's creator "Kill 'Em All" Tomino, himself, I personally don't see either of them as part of the U.C., but amalgamized settings that utilizes elements of past series prior their respective releases in order to build their stories, such as Turn A's Black History plot point and similar to how Gundam X uses a pastiche of the Earth Federation vs. Zeon conflict for its backstory.
And before anyone goes nuts in the comments, I also want to shout out that I know that certain series such as Gundam: The Origin (both the OVA and manga), both of the original series' novelization and compilation film adaptations, obscure material like Outer Gundam and Revival of Zeon, and other titles under the Universal Century timeline such as Thunderbolt, Zeta Gundam's horrible "New Translation" compilation movies and the Zeta Define manga, Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children, Almarya, and Gaia Gear, while part of Universal Century Gundam, are generally considered to be either non-canon or semi-canon to the main U.C. timeline and take place in their own respective continuities. But I'll be using elements from each of these series to fill out certain gaps in the timeline and expand the universe.
