Guardian Part 2

Summary:

Sequel to Guardian. Randall Boggs went on saving human kids after he left the child Joanne behind. But he starts feeling homesick for his home dimension and wants to go back. He saves and protects one last kid. How will things go when he goes back home though? AU.

Notes:

This is entirely different than the canon storyline. But I just believe that Randall could use his skills for so much more than how he was portrayed. I like to think he's worthy of redemption. Enjoy. Sorry the first chapter is so short. My first story in over a year after a long break from writing my own stories.

Chapter Text

Randall Boggs had decided to go on wanting to help kids after he had helped Joanne, but perhaps not quite as directly as he had before unless he really needed to. He went from place to place, mostly avoiding being seen by humans as much as he could, knowing that most of them were afraid of monsters, especially big lizards like himself. Sometimes he would walk around in towns, other times, he hitched rides in transport trucks that had food and supplies. At least he could eat that way before he departed the truck when it arrived at its destination.

He kept a backpack for his supplies of food and bottles for water. He was always careful. But if he came across kids in trouble, such as a say a kid being bullied by a gang, that was when Randall left his bag, and he vanished. He would go down and help the one being bullied. He would invisibly fight the bullies himself. They never knew what hit them. He usually didn’t let them see him, but he might sometimes reveal his eyes and teeth. It always got a good scare.

The kid who was being bullied would always be dumbfounded about what happened. But it was usually a one-time scenario. Then Randall would go on to the next place and help the next person. Though he started thinking of expanding his efforts. There were even adults who could use his help too, but kids were more helpless than adults. He would help adults only if the situation was almost dire for the victim.

But if there was one thing that was constantly on his mind, it was thinking about going back to the monster world. As much as he could do good here, he could do good there too. He knew going back was risky since James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski had illegally banished him themselves. He still felt angry at them for doing this to him, but he couldn’t stay here forever. But perhaps he could do better things for the monster world too, just not do it so much in secret.

Going back home would carry its risks, but he didn’t really belong here in the human world. He belonged back in the monster world. But he didn’t want to be like he was before, the big jerk that everyone knew him to be. He would likely still have that façade, but he still had a caring side to those that knew him, though it was very few.

Randall had thought about his life here. He would only remain a guardian to stop bullies, an invisible one. He would never officially interact with humans again. He would help them but didn’t trust them. He just didn’t want the chance of being taken into some science lab. That he absolutely wouldn’t stand for.

He wouldn’t know if he would ever be able to make up to Sullivan and Wazowski, but he didn’t want to do things illegally again. He was too smart to just use his gifts the way he had been using them. If he could gain a good reputation back for himself, perhaps he could even think about having a family of his own. Finding a decent female and hopefully, a family.

Randall was just beginning to feel lonely in his life. He didn’t want to feel in danger all the time. He just wanted a good life for himself, have a real job, maintain good relations with folks he could talk to. But he had to get home first. He knew the only way to get home was through a child’s closet.

The next young child he came across that was really little, he was going to follow it home. He had had enough of the human world. There would be lots of humans in danger that he could help, but they had their own heroes too, the police. A cop had adopted Joanne after all. He was glad he had too. Randall couldn’t have gone on taking care of her without the risk of being captured by scientists sooner or later.
