Work Text:
Mavuika stepped out of the shower, toweling her hair off as the steam settled in the bathroom. It had been a long day of planning and reviewing stunts for Furina’s latest film, many of which the little archon wanted to revise. Everything needed to be perfect before rehearsals, and Furina was the type of planner to go through everything with a fine-tooth comb.
’I remember Focalors being detail-oriented too.’ Mavuika thought, wringing the last droplets out of her hair, looking at herself in the mirror. The Pyro archon looked at her reflection for a moment and let out a heavy sigh. ‘I miss Xixi and Chas.’
She had flown to Fontaine to consult with Furina at her studio over the stunt plans for the movie, a process that would take at least a week. Something she had taken up over the past year, working as a stunt coordinator for various films and shows. Sadly, that meant an entire week without her two sweet, warm, caring wives to comfort her after a long day of mental exertion. Not that working with Furina was torture, Mavuika loved discussing the various stunts for the actors to perform in the movie. The hard part was finding out how to make it all fit with the story and, more importantly, be believable. It still baffled her how far story-telling had come since her days as the archon of Natlan.
’People certainly have gotten more creative over the centuries.’ She thought, rubbing down her arms. ‘If only Chasca and Xilonen could have come, they’d love Fontaine.’
But, Chasca was on duty for the whole week and Xilonen was working on a presentation for one of her history classes at Natlan University. As much as they both said they wanted to join her, they couldn’t.
“Next time, love.” Chasca had said, kissing her cheek at the airport. “Be safe now, and say hello to lady Furina for us!”
“And bring back some cacao candies!” Xilonen’s eyes had sparkled with eagerness.
Shaking her head, Mavuika chuckled as she shrugged on her bathrobe. She still had seven days left in Fontaine, so it wouldn't be too difficult to find some souvenirs for her wives before leaving. Maybe she could ask Furina about a good chocolaterie, she certainly knew her patisseries. Running through a mental list of what all to get as gifts, Mavuika opened the bathroom door to her hotel room, and stopped in her tracks.
”Good evening, Lady Mavuika.” Said the cat-eared goddess draped across the large bed, her face propped up in her hands as her tail flicked side to side.
Mavuika’s jaw dropped open. “I…uh…”
”Oh my, did we catch Natlan’s legendary guardian off guard?” hummed the red-haired vision seated in the chair across from the bed. “Consider me surprised.”
”I…wha…huh?” Mavuika blinked, looking between the two women. “How-why-how did you two get here? I thought you had work?”
”We did,” Xilonen said, her lips curling into a lazy smile. “But, our schedules freed up so we thought we’d fly to Fontaine to join you for a couple days. Are you surprised?”
A startled laugh slipped from Mavuika’s throat and she rushed to the bed, catching Xilonen in a massive hug. “You bet Celestia I am!” She pressed her face into the jaguar’s long mane of hair, breathing in the familiar omega’s scent. “Archons, I missed you.” She felt slim arms circle her waist from behind and she hummed. “And you too, Chas.” Turning to look over her shoulder, Mavuika felt her beta’s lips meet hers in a warm kiss.
”Hey, I want one!”
Chuckling, Mavuika turned back and kissed Xilonen. “Like I would leave you out.” Wrapping her arms around both women’s shoulders, Mavuika pulled them close to her sides as she sat on the bed. “I feel soooo much better with you two here. It’s way too quiet and the bed is too big.”
“Oh my,” Chasca hummed. “Well, perhaps we can help with that tonight?”
“Yes,” Xilonen’s breath was warm against Mavuika’s cheek. “I think we can do that.”
Mavuika felt her face grow hot. “Oh, you two!” Chuckling, she squirmed as her two favorite people pressed soft, butterfly kisses to her cheeks and neck. After a few moments of ticklish teasing, Mavuika glanced at the clock and sat up. “Alright ladies, more of that for tonight. Right now, I’m taking you out to dinner.”
“Cacao candy fondue?” Tail flicking eagerly, Xilonen bounced on the mattress.
Chasca rolled her eyes. “Dear, that’s dessert, and you’ll spoil your appetite. Besides, you’ve had enough already.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Pouting, Xilonen glanced down at her belly and rubbed it.
Biting her lip, Mavuika leaned down and kissed the woman’s abdomen, earning a startled squeak. “If we have room for dessert after dinner, then I’ll take you to chocolate fondue, how’s that?”
Xilonen clapped her hands. “Splendid! But of course,” her voice lowered and she winked languidly at Mavuika. “I’ll save the best dessert for last.”
Mavuika was positive her hair burned so bright, it had gone white.
When Mavuika heard her alarm chiming on her phone, she sighed as she reached over to shut off the buzzing item. Only for someone to beat her to it, grumbling in her ear.
“Too early,” Xilonen’s voice was thick with sleep. “Ten more minutes.” Her face nuzzled into Mavuika’s neck.
Opening her eyes, Mavuika was greeted by the sight of Xilonen practically on top of her with Chasca pressed firmly to her side. That certainly explained why she had trouble moving when her alarm went off. Xilonen’s hair was an absolute mane of fluff and frizz, her tail idly swaying beneath the sheets, her naked body warming Mavuika’s skin. When Mavuika exhaled, she could feel Chasca’s arm looped over her chest, fingers loosely holding her shoulder as she slept.
Good thing Furina insisted they wait until lunch to meet after Mavuika texted about her wives surprising her, or else there would have been no way Mavuika could get out of bed on time. Lifting the arm that wasn’t currently pinned under Chasca’s side, Mavuika stroked Xilonen’s hair. A quiet purr bubbled up from the other woman's chest and she leaned into Mavuika’s touch.
Damn, Mavuika had missed this.
“Good morning, my loves.” Mavuika whispered.
Groaning, Xilonen peeked a single eye open to look at the archon before burrowing her face into her chest. “No morning…ten more minutes…”
Mavuika rolled her eyes and kissed Xilonen’s forehead. “I’ll need to get up soon, babe, I do have a job to do.”
Next to her, Chasca sighed, pulling her closer. “You said not till 11am, and it’s 7 right now.”
“We still need to have breakfast.”
Turquoise eyes glimmered at Mavuika through a curtain of red hair. “Breakfast in bed?”
Deft fingers brushed against her inner thigh and Mavuika’s breath hitched as warmth stirred between her legs. Chasca’s hand carefully stroked the growing hardness of Mavuika’s length, her smile slow as the archon let out a shaking breath. Purring, Xilonen pressed a deep kiss to Mavuika’s lips and began to grind her hips with agonizing patience.
“We missed you, Mav,” Chasca’s breath was hot against Mavuika’s ear. “Let us enjoy you first, and then we’ll go eat.”
Mavuika moaned into Xilonen’s mouth, her hands instinctively reaching up to hold her shoulders, to steady herself or to ground into reality, she wasn't sure. All that mattered was the warmth and wetness of Xilonen’s mouth on hers and Chascha’s fingers stroking and teasing. Closing her eyes, Mavuika relaxed into the familiarity of her lovers’ ministrations. Lips pressed against the column of her neck and she felt her pulse jump from Chasca’s kisses. Mavuika’s hips began to roll in time with Chasca’s movement and she whimpered into Xilonen’s kisses, pleasure and love coursing through her veins.
Not a bad way to start the morning.
By the time the three of them were able to get up and get ready for the day, the sun was high in the sky and Mavuika was eagerly leading them through the streets of Fontaine. In her time since she’d arrived, Furina had introduced Mavuika to a great many eateries, and the one she had in mind for this morning was a small crepe stand that offered plenty of options, both savory and sweet.
“Oh my archons,” Xilonen’s eyes sparkled wide as she stared at the menu. “Cacao candy and nutella?! With chocolate chips sprinkled on top and chocolate whipped cream?”
Mavuika nodded. “Yup! And they’ll drizzle chocolate sauce on it for you too.”
“I’m getting two.”
Chasca frowned, crossing her arms. “No you’re not.”
“Pleeeaaaaase, Chas?” Xilonen blinked at her with wide eyes, ears wiggling atop her head. “I’ll get fruit with them, I promise!”
Biting her lip to keep from laughing, Mavuika shot a glance at Chasca. The peacekeeper sighed, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
“You can get one.”
“Deal!”
Once their crepes were ready, Mavuika led Chasca and Xilonen to a small park with a perfect view of the Court of Fontaine where they happily munched on their breakfast. As they ate, Mavuika talked about her meetings with Furina and what the former Hydro archon was planning. Even though Mavuika had signed an NDA to not give away any details on the script, she was able to share some of the stunts she had planned, most notably a motorcycle chase meant to last at least 5 minutes of the film.
”Speaking of which,” Mavuika glanced at the time on her phone. “I’ve got to get to Furina’s office to go over the chase scene details.” She shot Chasca and Xilonen an apologetic look. “I’ll probably be back at the hotel around 6ish, will you two be okay?”
Licking chocolate whipped cream from her lips, Xilonen giggled and booped Mavuika’s nose. “Of course, you goof. We’ve got some ideas for exploring the city while we wait.”
”I was hoping to visit the Opera Epiclese to learn more about the justice system here.” Chasca said, finishing off the last bite of her crepe. “There’s an old acquaintance of mine who works there, I thought we could stop by to say hello.”
Nodding, Mavuika pocketed her phone. “Sounds good! I’ll meet you two back at the hotel after 6 and we can go out for dinner?”
”We’ll see you then, love.” Chasca leaned over and kissed her cheek.
”Me too!” Popping up, Xilonen kissed Mavuika’s other cheek and the archon blushed.
”S-see you two later!” Shouldering her bag, Mavuika turned and hurried off into the streets towards Furina’s building. Opening the main door, Mavuika jogged up the steps to Furina’s office.
“Furina?” She knocked on the door. “It’s Mavuika.”
“Ah!” The musical voice responded. “Come on in!”
Opening the door, Mavuika was greeted with the all-too familiar sight of Furina’s overly decorated, brightly colored office. The walls had been painted a soft blue with a dark blue plush carpet, giving the feel of being underwater. Off to one side was a large window overlooking the Opera Epicles with a couch and two chairs flanking a low set coffee table. Stuff animals filled the corners of the room and furniture, some set up as if they too were joining in on the conversation, most notably the massive blubberbeast taking residence on the couch.
“Hello, Mav!” Furina jumped up from her chair behind her desk. “Come on in! I just brewed some tea!”
The petite woman’s large oak desk dominated almost half the space, entirely covered in script drafts, sketches of sets, and various doodles in what looked like crayon. Three computer monitors hummed with light, powered by a crystal-blue PC that sat on one side of the desk. A kettle was currently hissing steam from its hotpot, which Furina lifted to pour hot water into the waiting teapot, designed to look like a whale.
Smiling, Mavuika closed the door and nodded. “I’ll take some tea, thank you.”
“Wonderful! Navia just gave me a new packet of tea, which would you like?” Furina held up a quartet of tins. “The bullefruit pearls are my favorite.”
“That sounds good, I’ll do that.” Mavuika set her bag down and took a seat at the desk while Furina got to work brewing their tea. Once their tea was ready, and Furina’s nearly piled high with sugar, Mavuika pulled out her tablet and they got to work.
Hours later, about half of the motorcycle chase had been planned out and Mavuika’s brain felt like it was going to melt from her ears.
”So how are Chasca and Xilonen enjoying Fontaine?” Furina asked, gathering the scattered papers that made up the movie script.
”They are.” Mavuika chuckled, chancing a look at her phone where Xilonen’s most recent text still showed. It was a selfie of her with Chasca in the background, talking to Clorinde, who was dressed in the notable uniform of a Marechausse Hunter. Smiling, Mavuika sent a heart emoji in response before pocketing her phone again. “They caught me by surprise for sure, I had no idea they were planning to surprise me.”
Furina smiled. “Well, I’m glad it worked out!” The little archon looked at Mavuika. “Maybe we could all get dinner?”
“That would be nice,” Mavuika nodded. “What time should we meet up?”
“Arle should be done around 6:30 so…7ish? There’s an adorable little bistro that Arle and I’ve just been dying to go back to, I’ll text you the address.”
Humming, Mavuika shouldered her bag and stood. “Sounds like a plan, we’ll see you then!” With that, Mavuika strolled out of the office and pulled her phone out of her pocket to call Xilonen and tell her wives they had dinner plans.
The Pieuvre Heureuse glittered softly over the entrance in a collection of small, twinkling lights, while the image of Furina’s familiar, Gentilhomme Usher, danced below. Mavuika guessed the restaurant must have asked Furina’s permission to create a sign likened to the octopus, which she clearly approved considering they were to dine here.
Adjusting the sleeves of her blazer, Mavuika walked to the entrance with Xilonen and Chasca beside her. The moment she gave her name, the maitre’d eagerly led the trio inside the bistro, saying the other half of their party had already arrived and was waiting for them. The interior was decorated with old nautical instruments and pictures of old sailing ships while shards of sea glass hung from the ceiling, glittering in the soft light. Many of the tables in the restaurant were small and round, clearly meant for couples, but tucked towards the back was a larger one with a booth curling behind.
“Mav!” Furina popped up from her chair to wave at her friend. “Over here!”
Raising her hand in return, Mavuika walked to the table. “Hey Furina, this place is so cute! Thanks for inviting us!”
“Not at all, it’s my pleasure!” The petite woman smiled wide, looking at Chasca and Xilonen and extending her hand. “Hello, again Chasca and Xilonen! It’s wonderful to see you again!”
Chasca smiled and accepted Furina’s hand, Xilonen doing the same a moment later while her tail swished side to side. “It’s an honor to see you too, Furina, Mav’s told us all about what you two have been working on.”
“Considering all the help she’s given me already, I’d say she’s done more than I could’ve asked.” Furina then glanced back to the figure who had been sitting beside her and cleared her throat, making a grand flourish with her hands. “This is my wife, Arlecchino. She’s one of the executive producers of the film.”
“Good evening,” Arlecchino said, standing to shake Chasca and Xilonen’s hand.
Even though Mavuika had previously met Arlecchino, she was still reminded by the presence of the Knave of the Fatui. The contrast in appearance and behavior between Arlecchino and Furina threw her for a loop almost every time and she couldn’t help but bite her lip when Xilonen and Chasca looked in surprise as the Knave.
“It’s an honor and pleasure to meet Mavuika’s wives.” Arlecchino said as they all took their seats, looking from Xilonen to Chasca. “I understand you two came up for a surprise visit for the weekend?”
Xilonen nodded. “Yup, we wanted to surprise her since we knew she was going to be working with Miss Furina for a while.”
“Have you been enjoying the city?” Furina asked, selecting a sweet brioche roll from the bread basket after a waiter set it down.
“Yes, it’s beautiful." Chasca smiled. “And I have a friend who is part of the Marecheusse Hunters so it was a good excuse to reconnect.”
“Who was your friend, if I may ask?”
Chasca looked at Arlecchino. “Clorinde Caspar.”
“Oh! You know her too?” Furina’s eyes glittered excitedly. “Her wife makes the best macarons ever!”
”You only say that because you love anything sugary, dear.” Arlecchino said, taking a sip from her water glass.
Xilonen’s ears perked. “Has she ever made cacao candy macarons?”
Both Arlecchino and Furina looked at Mavuika.
“She means chocolate.”
The entire table chuckled and the waiter walked up to their table to take their orders, the conversation easing into everyone’s day and Chasca and Xilonen’s thoughts on Fontaine.
“How is it compared to Natlan, aside from the obvious.” Furina waved a hand to the water outside the window.
Xilonen slurped a clam from its shell and deposited it into a nearby bowl. “Everything’s a lot closer together, not as spread out as the streets are in Natlan, but far less dusty. I’ve never seen so many mechs walking around in one city!” Her tail flicked against her chair leg. “If those existed back home, I’d probably spend more time upgrading them than designing motorcycles.”
“You’re a mechanic?” Arlecchino asked, cutting her fish and taking a bite.
“Yup! In fact, I designed and built Mav’s motorcycle for her.” A soft blush worked its way across Xilonen’s cheeks as she looked at the red-haired woman. “It was a bit after we’d met, so I was shocked to see Mav walk into my shop with a commission.”
Mavuika smiled, taking her hand. “Considering how the three of us met, I was very surprised to learn the person who grabbed my hand at the mall was the same person who’d be building my bike.”
The blush darkened in Xilonen’s cheeks and Chasca let out a snort.
“For the last time, I was reading through my emails on my phone and Chas and I were going up the escalator! How was I to know the hand I grabbed wasn’t my wife?”
Chasca set down her water glass and smiled. “Maybe by looking at your wife instead of your phone? Granted, had you done that,” she bumped her shoulder against Mavuika’s. “We wouldn’t have met such a wonderful woman.”
“Chaaaasca.” Mavuika groaned, hiding her face in her hands.
Across the table, Furina squealed with delight. “Aaaw, that’s so cute!” She then sighed and crossed her arms. “Arle never holds my hand when we go out in public, she’s much too serious.”
“Am I now?” Arlecchino’s eyes seemed to glitter in the low lighting of the restaurant as she leaned close to Furina. “I thought you enjoyed my serious nature? I believe your exact words were, what was it? ‘A handsome, stoic knight whose voice makes one go weak in the knees and whose touch is as strong as the ocean but gentle as a rose.’?”
“Arleeeee!” Furina’s face turned bright red and she shoved the taller woman away, but Arlecchino’s hand around her waist foiled the attempt.
Once their meal was gone and the bill paid, courtesy of Furina despite Mavuika’s protests, the five women made their way out of the restaurant and into the cool evening air of Fontaine.
“It was a pleasure to see you again, Mavuika,” Arlecchino shook her hand. “I’m looking forward to seeing what all you create for the stunt choreography for this project.”
“Oh please, it’s nothing.” Mavuika waved a hand. “I’m having a blast working with Furina.”
“Aw, thanks Mavuika!” Furina hugged her. “I’m enjoying working with you too.” She then turned to Chasca and Xilonen, shaking their hands. “It was so nice to see you two again.”
Xilonen smiled wide, hugging Furina. “It was great to you again as well! Whenever you make it to Natlan, let us know!”
“We will!” Taking Arlecchino’s hand, Furina waved to the trio before they walked off into the streets of Fontaine and faded into the crowd.
Sighing, Mavuika rested her arms over Chacsa and Xilonen’s shoulders. “So, did you two have fun?”
“Yes,” Chasca smiled. “They’re a sweet couple, even if they seem like polar opposites.”
Mavuika chuckled. “Yeah, Arle doesn’t look like it, but she can be an absolute teddy bear with Furina, she just doesn’t show it.”
“She definitely gives off that vibe,” Xilonen said, nuzzling into Mavuika’s hold. “So, what should we do now?”
“Well,” A grin slid across Mavuika’s face. “Why don’t we head back to the hotel room to enjoy the hot, steamy where I kiss you both silly under the water?”
Both women looked at her.
“Go on.” Said Chasca.
“Then,” Mavuika continued, steering them down the street. “We climb into the very big, size appropriate jacuzzi tub where I continue kissing and touching until you two come undone.”
“And then?” Xilonen purred, her tail wrapping around Mavuika’s waist.
Mavuika’s grin widened. “We all climb into bed and hold each other tight as we enjoy the sweetest lovemaking ever.”
Chasca hummed and leaned in close, her lips brushing against Mavuika’s cheek. “That sounds like heaven. Lead the way.”
At those words, Mavuika’s hands slipped down to take hold of Chasca and Xilonen’s and she pulled them down the street, their breathy laughter joining her own as they made their way back to the hotel. Overhead, the stars glittered in the night sky as the moon shimmered across the waters of Fontaine, bathing everything it touched in a soft silver glow.
Sunlight streamed through the partially opened curtains into the hotel room, filling it with a soft golden glow. From her position on her side, Mavuika smiled as she watched Xilonen softly snoring, her body fully slumped on top of Chasca. The peacekeeper had her arms lazily wrapped around the jaguar, rubbing her back. It was their last full day all together before Chasca and Xilonen would return home and Furina had agreed to let Mavuika enjoy the entire day with her wives.
“So, we’ll see you next Tuesday, love?” Chasca asked, her finger tracing up Xilonen’s spine, earning a soft purr from the dozing woman.
Chuckling, Mavuika leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on Chasca’s forehead. “Not a moment later, I promise.” Running her hand down Xilonen’s back, Mavuika smiled as she twirled the long fluffy tail between her fingers. “Furina would never want to get in the way of someone being with the ones they love.”
A soft groan made both women look at the sleeping Xilonen, who burrowed her face into Chasca’s abdomen. Mavuika’s smile widened and she pressed a kiss to a single fluffy ear before settling back into the bed, pulling Chasca and Xilonen close. In this moment, nothing else mattered but the three women holding each other and the rhythm of three distinct heartbeats matching each other’s pace.
They had a whole day ahead of them, but for this moment, Mavuika was okay to wait a little longer.
