A refreshing breeze. An arduous eternity.
Both pass Han Yoojin by when he opens his eyes once more.
He cannot say that he expected to greet the unending night sky once again, yet there the vast heavens rest, appearing just the same as it had the last time he gazed upon them, cradling his deceased brother in his arms.
At the mere thought of his Yoohyun-ie, Han Yoojin reflexively looks down and notes the empty feeling in his arms. At first, a numbness creeps over his form and his thoughts come to a halt, accentuated by the chill lacing the air. Memories of that final, soft touch to his cheek and the lingering warm followed by the glacial frost of death flash through his thoughts and no sense can be made from it.
Han Yoojin was certain that his brother loathed him, with the way he rejected him and always kept him at a distance, never once visiting, calling, or sending someone to check on him—unless of course, it was to make sure he wasn't causing "problems" of whatever sort.
It had taken time, but Han Yoojin eventually made his peace.
Then his brother flipped everything he believed true on its head and died.
A lot remains mysterious to Han Yoojin, but there is one thing he knows to be true— and it is that his brother wouldn't have sacrificed his life to save him if he hated him.
And now, some untold time later, Han Yoojin finds himself seated in a field of tall grass, gently dancing in the wind beneath the bright moonlight, trying to make sense of his brother's actions and the wish stone that never materialized a new time.
Only… that does not seem right.
The forest is calm and serene and life flourishes around him, free of the fire that scorched the dungeon he was in before, and the air is purer than anything in Seoul. For the first time, Han Yoojin looks up from where he was staring at the ground, stands, and observes the forest's treeline. It is markedly different from the dungeon, with long, slender trees that wind about each other and reach for the heavens, and a beautifully clear sky with stars like diamonds scattered about its fabric.
Is it possible that he has shifted through space and time after all?
Han Yoojin reaches into his pocket in search of his cell phone, hoping to ascertain the exact date and time, only to find his phone entirely absent. Not only that, his torn t-shirt and jeans are replaced with like-new versions of the items.
There is nothing on his person to tell him where he is, and he is not even sure that this scene is one of a dungeon, with no beasts present and no bright screens popping into his field of vision. The wind whistles more loudly and as he wraps his hands about his body, seeking warmth, he observes a silhouette far off, in the distance.
After an untold stretch of time passes, tall and intricately designed gates emerge through the light fog. The haze begins to descend as Han Yoojin treks through the wooded hollow, heading towards the tall shadow in the distance, but now that he has reached what appears to be closed, but not locked iron gates, he looks up at the sky.
The once cream-yellow light now shines a bright scarlet, emanating from a blood red moon. He isn't sure when that transition happened, but with the shadows of the wrought iron gates and of his own form growing longer, a strange sense of trepidation settles into his mind.
Where exactly is he?
This is most certainly not the place where the Launchitas claimed his brother's life, nor does it resemble any space he knows of. The only possibility that makes sense is that the wish stone he gained upon killing those dragons granted him his wish and brought him to a new world where his brother lives… but even then, this does not appear to be a world where humans live at all! Far from resembling Seoul or any other metropolis, Han Yoojin is not even sure that humans live here— or so he believed until stumbling across the iron gates before him.
These gates must mean that someone lives here or nearby.
He glances behind him once more, takes in the soaring trees, the lush greenery, and the once pure white blooms that now appear tinged by a light red, and settles his heart. The wish stone has brought him to this world, he's certain of that, and that means it has brought him to a place where his brother exists— the very same precious brother that his heart has always beaten for.
With that thought in mind, he pushes the gates open— and they are surprisingly light beneath his hands. They open wide and reveal a cobblestone path tinted a reddish shade of brown, almost as if inviting him, even luring him to step inside.
Which he does. But of course, this is his only shot at finding his brother or anything, really.
The gates creak shut behind him, once he clears them, but he doesn't feel any sort of wind that could have closed them. It's a bit strange, but stranger things happen in the world of hunters and dungeons, and Han Yoojin presses on forward. The path continues on, seemingly without end.
On either side of him, the meadow with warm white and light red blooms stretches as far as one can see and the sensation of walking forever starts to disorient him. Fortunately, that off-kilter sensation does not last much longer and the silhouette he saw before comes into view. It is a manor, but before he can take a closer look, the grand double doors burst open.
The space is clearly inviting him inside and he should know better than to mindlessly enter.
Yet this space feels oddly familiar and Han Yoojin does so anyways.
The sight before his eyes both makes sense and does not at the same time.
Upon entering the manor, candles sitting comfortably within the wall sconces set themselves alight, which should concern him greatly. Yet upon seeing those warm orange flames, dancing and flickering energetically, Han Yoojin can only think of his brother and the fires that define his very existence. It is as if his brother surrounds him and every breath of air he takes in is deeply infused with his fiery essence and it all pushes him to continue forward.
And this is his Yoohyun-ie. It is impossible for him not to.
So he does. He follows the flames up the grand staircase and down a large hallway. There is not much in the way of furnishings or ornaments, but the simplicity of stone, fire, wood, and a few fabrics and other textures somehow suit the space perfectly. They too, remind Han Yoojin of his brother's tastes— bold and forceful, but not so fancy or cluttered.
As he continues walking, he cannot help but wonder if he is losing his mind, seeing his precious brother everywhere and in everything, or if these are just his final moments, with many memories and certain repressed desires flashing through his mind before he joins his brother in the afterlife somewhere out yonder.
When a pair of deep mahogany doors opens before him, he enters and does not think much of it until the doors slam shut behind him, seemingly of their own volition once again.
"Hyung, it has been a while."
It is impossible to mistake this voice.
It is a voice he knows intimately in all shades.
"Y-you… "
All of his thoughts dissipate into the crimson space.
On pure instinct, Han Yoojin closes the gap and throws his arms around the figure standing only a meter or so before the roaring fireplace. He does not need to see the figure's face to know that it is him— this most precious, beloved baby brother of his.
This person whose life slipped through his fingers.
This person without whom, Han Yoojin is nothing.
His arms tighten around his brother's body and the lean musculature pressing back against his hands is so obviously him. His Yoohyun-ie seems a bit cooler and perhaps a bit firmer than usual, but it is him and Han Yoojin never wants to let go.
"It is me, hyung."
Between the buzzing energy of the bright blood moon, the deep crimson space infused by this sensual spice, the flames crackling behind them, and his heart— beating ever faster with the twin burdens of guilt and desire, of duties and dreams long held, Han Yoojin allows himself this one moment.
In this world with just the two of them, surely he can be forgiven.
It takes a moment for Han Yoojin to register the press of cool lips against his throat, but when twin points pierce his skin, a deep sigh escapes his lips and he sinks into the depths.
Being embraced by Han Yoohyun— by his beloved brother, is like being set ablaze.
Surrounded by untamed flames and backed by the dark veil of the starry night sky.
His touch may be cool, but it burns with the passion and weight of desires held back over countless years— and they truly are countless, through his brother's eyes.
"Do you know how long I have wanted to have you like this, hyung?"
Han Yoojin knows far too well, now that he finally allows himself to want back in this way.
In response, all he can do is hold his Yoohyun-ie ever closer. He twines his fingers through his brother's wavy hair and cradles his head against the juncture of his neck and shoulder.
Of course, it does not take long for Han Yoojin to piece together the obvious— that for whatever reason, his brother is now of a vampiric sort. It makes sense, given the unyielding midnight skies of this dimension and the crimson aura of this space. Han Yoohyun's eyes sparkle that same intense shade of fire and it so perfectly defines him.
As if his brother couldn't become any more special and handsome and amazing.
Cool fingers trace light patterns over his skin, contrasting the firm grasp those hands have over his hips, his legs, and wherever else his Yoohyun-ie sees fit to hold and possess him.
First, it is the press of his cool lips against his own human pair, then it is the cycle of gentle kisses, sharp pinpricks, a rush of electric desire, and a cool, soothing, healing lave of his tongue before those lips travel elsewhere on his body and repeat the process.
Han Yoojin glances down and notes bright crimson marks scattered across the pale stretch of skin. Merely seeing this evidence of their union— of ownership, really, has him relaxing and sinking into the dark silk sheets caressing his back.
He knows that he should say something or throw up some kind of resistance. They are brothers who really should not engage in this way, and as much as Han Yoojin longs to remain intimately tied to Han Yoohyun like this forever, they should try to find a way out of this dimension.
However… that can wait for another time.
Han Yoojin is selfish enough to want this one moment for himself.
And with his brother devouring his blood and his body like so, who is he to push him away?
When those cool touches shift from teasing his sensitive chest to spreading his legs and pressing deeper into his body— first with those teasing fingers stretching him and then that heavy cock driving into his fiery core, Han Yoojin cannot help but clamp down.
Anything that shuts anything and everything else out—
Anything that brings them closer and keeps them together—
Anything that allows them to remain like this, eternally entwined—
Even if it is just in this moment, Han Yoojin is greedy enough to claim Han Yoohyun for his own.
They may be damned and they may be doomed, but they are also destined.
If not, then why does every kiss, touch, bite, caress, and embrace feel so wonderfully right?
It is a luscious, rich sweetness that envelops his senses and drags him into their addictive depths every time their lips meet, every time they pull at each other's hair, every time they gasp and sigh the others' name. It becomes far too easy to forget about the world that exists beyond the lush forests— even beyond the four walls of their now shared suite.
Han Yoojin is not sure where he ends and Han Yoohyun begins— especially not when his brother's fangs are embedded in his neck and his brother's cock presses into his body, opening him and possessing him in both ways. Not a single day… or rather night, because this world is one of the eternal midnight, passes without Han Yoohyun laying myriad claims upon and within his body.
"You're mine, hyung."
He nods silently. It is impossible to forget.
Han Yoojin has always belonged to him, with the two of them in this world alone, but in time, he learns two truths that seal their fate together.
For one, the brother of his original world had sought to protect him. Once upon a time, he might have not believed such a thing possible but with the benefit of hindsight, it is obvious.
As for the other… in truth, Han Yoojin does not know how his baby brother was turned. True, as an S-class hunter, he was never quite 'normal' or 'human' to begin with, but now, it is as if the only shards of humanity that remain within him are those tied to Han Yoojin himself.
"Mine. Forever."
He wonders how long his brother has been alive… or rather, has existed in this inhuman state. Despite Han Yoohyun being his younger brother, it soon becomes apparent that his Yoohyun-ie is almost certainly older than him by technical years.
"You're never leaving me again."
His Yoohyun-ie refuses to elaborate, but Han Yoojin sees his own feelings and thoughts reflected in his vampire of a brother. He does not know how many times his brother has seen him die, but it is too many times. There is only one answer he can give his beloved brother.
"Never. Never again."
Those words ignite the space and the scarlet haze deepens. Their lips crash together and their tongues twist together, now well acquainted.
Han Yoohyun knows his body very well given their many intimate unions, so it does not take long before those cool, deft fingers slip into his body and caress his inner walls, stretching and opening him for that thick, heavy weight Han Yoojin craves. In due time, his brother's cock breaches his body once more and presses ever deeper as those twin points break skin and his Yoohyun-ie savors his life essence.
Except this time, it is different. Fire of another sort soon overcomes and changes him.
Once upon a time, where the cold sensations of the universe once reminded Han Yoojin of the lonely life he used to lead—a life surrounded by violence, gossip, and rejection, they now bring him the most wonderful, comforting sense of home.
He peers at the tall, floor-to-ceiling windows of their spacious bedroom suite and notes a radiant, bright night sky not dissimilar to the one that greeted him when he first arrived in this world. Han Yoojin sets his teacup down on the saucer atop the mahogany coffee table and heads over to the window, wishing to take in the beautiful sight of the night forest once more.
Despite all the time that has passed since his arrival in this world, he recalls the exact path he followed to his brother's manor and traces it with his eyes. He had been so lost and confused back then, having lost his brother— or so he believed, at least, and did not care much for continuing on.
Han Yoohyun once told him, countless eons ago, that he would grow up and provide him with a comfortable, luxurious life someday— that he'd be able to live a happy, relaxed life and not have to work again. Of course, never in their wildest dreams could they have imagined this sort of eternity in their future, but Han Yoojin cannot help the smile that tugs at his lips, knowing his Yoohyun-ie made this a reality.
"What are you thinking about, hyung?"
A low voice whispers by his right ear as strong arms encircle his waist and pull him back against a firm chest. Han Yoojin instinctively relaxes into this touch he knows better than himself. He can already imagine the sort of bright shine his cute baby brother's crimson eyes carry, or maybe he's even pouting in that sort of way that has Han Yoojin answering whatever it is he wants to know. All the same, he places his hands over his Yoohyun-ie's forearms and squeezes gently and affectionately.
"The moon is quite beautiful, isn't it?"
The softer, calmer aura soon breaks when he senses cool lips trail across the length of his exposed neck, laying kisses along the way. The faint trace of sharp pinpoints soon follows, pressing against his skin until it eventually yields, allowing his beloved brother to indulge himself in his life essence once more.
"You are far more beautiful, hyung."
A surge of heat blooms through his core as he lets out a breathy sigh and his fingers twine into Han Yoohyun's curly hair. Fire spreads further down, eventually pooling between his thighs and Han Yoojin's fingers reflexively tighten.
Within seconds, he finds himself being carried to their bed, gently laid down, and carefully undressed like a precious treasure to be consumed and worshipped, and his half-blooded heart races.
Once upon a time, he might have wondered if them being lovers in this way was truly okay.
Now, however, Han Yoojin knows that this is their truth and their eternity.
