Work Text:
Lampert blinked his eyes open, followed by a tired stretch, staring at the boy he was previously snuggled up against; Him now scrolling on his phone.
Kasper extended his gaze toward him. “Oh– Morning, man.” followed by a kiss to Lampert’s forehead.
Lampert eased into his touch happily, basking in the harmonizing sound of Kasper's morning voice.
“Morning, Kas..” He yawns out.
Lampert lazily rubbed his eyes, before sitting up slightly, tilting his head up. “What.. Time is it? The ROKEA’s lights are still off.”
“Oh it's uh..” Kasper paused to think, despite the time being on his phone right in front of him. “Six– No, seven something. You woke up like.. Really early.”
Lampert blinked. “..Right, I forgot. This.. is considered early for you.”
He chuckles. “Whatever, dude.. But, honestly.. More like.. Really really early. I usually get up at like, eleven.” Kasper clicks the power button on his device and sets it on the free space next to him.
“I know..”
He sinks back down into Lampert’s bed and turns to him with a light hearted smile, Lampert mirroring the action.
“I honestly got zero idea of how I could've possibly woke before you, even if it was just by a few minutes. Y’know, cause last night we stayed up — I mean, I already go to bed suuupper late.”
“.. I'm aware.” Lampert jokes.
“Shut up, dude..”
Kas snuggles back up to him, making their foreheads meet.
“..Can we go back to sleep soon, though? I'm.. Still really tired.” Kasper half-mumbled.
“..Yeah, but I’ll probably wake up far sooner then you this time. I went to sleep before you, and I usually get up at—”
“Eight, ‘m well aware, too..” He teases, Lampert giving a soft chuckle in response.
Kasper continues, “Wouldn't it be nine something, though? We still did stay up.”
“Ah, right..”
“Oh– I just remembered, can we restart the last episode we were on? I honestly don't remember anything from that one, pretty sure I was spaced out hard.”
“Oh sure, yeah. I was getting kind of tired by that point, so..”
“Mm..” Kas hums in response.
A very comfortable silence falls between the two.
Kasper moved his arms to wrap around Lampert’s torso, breathing out softly.
Lampert mirrors the action, staring into Kasper’s eyes — his tail subconsciously coiling around his leg.
He felt butterflies in his stomach as he watched his glare soften while his face got closer, until the gap between them was adjourned.
Lampert brought his hand to the back of Kasper’s head, running his fingers through his brunette hair. It felt really soft; the new conditioner he bought for him seemed to be doing it's job well. It has a really nice scent to it too.
He noticed himself glow, slightly lighting up the dark they were surrounded in. He hoped it didn't make Kasper’s eyes sting, even if it wasn't too bright.
When they inevitably pulled part, Lampert kept his smile brushed on his lips, a small way to keep him connected. As cheesy as it sounded, he wished this moment could last forever.
“Kasper..” His voice peaceful — barely above a whisper.
He, honestly, didn't know what he was calling out to him for.
“..Yeah?”
His mind went to everything they've been through.
The virus.
The days they spent without one another.
But, now,
they can spend their days together.
Stay up late watching trash TV while eating chips.
Hold hands in public, maybe just because, maybe to comfort the other, maybe to guide the other through a crowd.
Be an annoying couple.
Together.
And there was only three words to express how he felt about that.
“I love you.”
Kasper's eyes softened one more, squinting as his smile eased — gently squeezing him.
“Lampert..”
...
..
“I love you too.”
It seemed Kasper had the same thing on his mind.
