Replacement and Renewal

Summary:

Takumi automatically focused his eyes on Yugamu, realising the name that just spilled out his mouth, so naturally and fondly… Yugamu's hands froze upon hearing it, and he glared at Takumi with a quizzical look on his face, mouth slightly agape. The silence that filled the room felt far more brutal than any of the fights that Takumi had gone through so far, but then Yugamu eventually spoke up.

“Eito… was that not the name of your old teammate?”

“Eito…”

Takumi automatically focused his eyes on Yugamu, realising the name that just spilled out his mouth, so naturally and fondly… Yugamu's hands froze upon hearing it, and he glared at Takumi with a quizzical look on his face, mouth slightly agape. The silence that filled the room felt far more brutal than any of the fights that Takumi had gone through so far, but then Yugamu eventually spoke up.

“Eito… was that not the name of your old teammate?”

Takumi felt his face burn up at the reminder, his chest aching alongside it. He sat up, quickly becoming more defensive.

“No! Well, yes…” Takumi scrambled to find the right words. It was such a simple question, but the implications of it were too mortifying to give a straightforward answer to, but no answer would get him out of this hole he had just dug himself into.

You could see the gears turning in Yugamu’s head trying to figure out the specific implications of Takumi’s words, or maybe he was figuring out which murder method to use on Takumi. Well, that would probably be a positive reaction on his end. Maybe letting him live would be the more hateful thing to do?

“Did you two ever… make love, or is this more of a fantasy kind of thing?” Yugamu asked with a big grin on his face, moving his index finger across Takumi’s thigh. Takumi’s eyes followed, but then he fully registered the question.

And it was truly the worst question, the worst one he could’ve been asked. He turned his head away and covered his face with his own right hand, hiding his cheeks that have now been dyed the same colour as his hair.

“I- We, ah… yeah.” He stuttered, feeling shame spread throughout his body.

“And yet you killed him. Ah, that’s the kind of love I could only dream of.”

Blush quickly crept onto Yugamu’s face, but his face looked a little melancholy. Takumi probably looked the same. He put his hand back down.

Yugamu continued, “This was in that past timeline you mentioned before, right?”

Those past one hundred days. Images flashed through his mind at that moment. Some painful, some… even more painful. His head wandered back to Eito, because of course it did. He thought about all those private conversations, the shared glances in the cafeteria, and those… intimate exchanges.

Geez, Eito calling him an ‘ugly little thing’ during those acts was so obvious in retrospect. He always thought he just stole that line from a random book or something and never questioned it. If anything he questioned himself on why those words made him feel so… good. Just another stupid mistake under Takumi’s belt.

“Yeah, that’s right…” Takumi sighed.

“Are you sure those nights with him weren’t… also a fantasy, along with your little time travelling story?”

“Hey, I wouldn’t lie about that!”

“Heehee! I was just kidding, killer. It’s fun seeing you get all squirmy,” Yugamu stroked his cheek, his cold hands mixing with Takumi’s warm face. “Think of this as just me paying you back for calling me by the name of your past lover.”

Ah, so he was mad about that… Wait, lover?!

Eito and him weren’t lovers, were they? I mean they did basically everything that couples do, so maybe-

“But I’m not opposed to-”

“I’m sorry, Yugamu.” He murmured.

“Huh?” Yugamu says as he lets go of his face.

“Sorry for… saying his name. It’s wrong to compare you to him.”

Takumi felt a tenseness in his eyes; a warning for tears, but he swiftly suppressed it.

“Oh Takumi,” Yugamu cooed. “You’re alright, it’s nice to know you aren’t as… innocent as you look.” He grinned, putting his hand fully on his thigh.

“Huh, what do you mean ‘innocent’?!”

“Hehe, I’m just teasing you.”

Takumi had a feeling there was more to that sentiment, but decided to let it go. He’s had enough of distrusting and hurting others for one timeline. Right now he doesn’t want to think, so he decided to be the one to break the silence.

“So,” Takumi cleared his throat “Do you still want to… you know?”

“Oh, I always want to when I’m with you, Takumi.”

For a split second there he thought he had heard Eito say those words. Geez, can he just get out of his head for five minutes? He isn’t the only person who can say cheesy things, damn it.

He focused on Yugamu’s touch as he laid back down, hoping the sensations would help drown out his thoughts, but one idea quickly came to mind and derailed that plan immediately.

“Hey, Yugamu…” He muttered in a much more timid voice.

“Yes, Takumi?” He spoke with a purposefully sultry voice as his hands felt over Takumi with a gentle kind of touch.

“Could you be… a bit more degrading?” He requested, visibly flustered at the more coarse ask.

Yugamu’s eyes widened, “Oh? I didn’t expect that from you, Takumi.”

The shame from earlier began to build up again, threatening to spill over.

“You, uh, don’t have to-”

“No, of course I can. As long as you’re ready for it, little Takumi.”

Takumi’s body reacted immediately to those words, with his mouth being firmly shut closed, and his face now being visibly flushed. Yugamu grinned upon noticing this reaction.

“Good boy.” He spoke sweetly, like honey was pouring out his mouth. Takumi’s face got even redder. Yugamu smiled again.

And now Takumi had just learned another thing about himself…
