Chapter Text
How long as he been in here ?
Zanka couldn't remember, his mind was fuzzy, throbbing in pain as he leaned against the well wall behind him. His stupid stick still held tightly against his palm as he began to hug it like some sort of teddy bear. No one has come to look for him, does no one care ?
Well...why would they ?
He was the failure of the family, he just ridiculized himself in front of his classmates and he was replaced by the new girl as the "best student" anyway.
Why would they go look for him ? He was a failure in every way possible. No matter what he did, it was either never enough or someone was better than him. Sometimes he wonders why he keeps trying to please other if they always end up being disappointed. But at the same time, a small part of himself make him keep going...just once, he just want to hear those words once. Even just a small "you did well" from someone who's important to him...that's all he's ever dreamed him off.
Yet he never got it, not even when he was a kid.
He's been a failure since he was little.
He understood that when he was barely 7 years old. The long of disappointment his parents gave him, gave him...like he was sort of mistake that should be erased. He'll never forget those looks, they'll always be locked in a part of his mind. Reminding him that no matter how hard he tried he could never be enough. Not to them.
He couldn't help the small weeze coming out of his mouth, he was gonna be a failure till the end wasn't he ?
He felt his stomach grumble, begging for food. Right, he hasn't eaten or drank anything in a while. But...
Did it truly matter ?
Maybe it was better for everyone if he disappeared for good. No one will know how he died. No one will remember him, they'll just remember his two prodigious siblings. Like always.
He sighed, his headache hadn't gone away. Probably because he banged his head against the wall not that long ago. His stupid stick barely did anything to arm himself, not as much as he wanted it to. And the only thing he had else were the walls of the well.
Guess that'll be another day in that stupid well. Just how long does it take for someone to die of starvation ? Or just deshydratation ? It felt like he's been here for an eternity, yet he didn't feel like he was going to die soon.
Was he in here for long ? He couldn't remember, when was the training ? He knew it was a few days ago, but he couldn't remember exactly when. Well that was troublesome. That meant he had no idea of the time he spend here. Well, at least he could try to remember to pass the time. Not that being in a well with nothing to do but punish himself wasn't becoming boring but it was also kinda becoming boring...
He hit himself with the stick at that thought. This was meant to punish him. Not to be "fun" in any way. Why did such thoughts even come to his mind in the first place ?? It was ridiculous, he was being ridiculous as usual.
'Fucking idiot...!' He mumbled as he bashed his head against the wall, harder than the other times it seemed...he felt something warm roll down his face.
Fuck.
Zanka knew that warm liquid all too well, it was the sam liquid that rolled down his thighs after a bad day, that rolled on his arms when his parents were disappointed in him that same liquid that made his mind panic and try to immediatly find a solution to make it stop.
It was blood.
He started to panic internally, he could deal with anything. Starvation ? Sure ! Dehydratation ? Okay ! But blood ? What was he suppose to-
Oh. That was actually great.
He laughed, laughed harder than he had ever laughed before.
If he's bleeding that mean he could bleed out to death now. If only...just a little more...
He need more blood.

Enjin sighed as he took another bite of his sandwich, he and Riyo had just finished a new mission that was given to them by Semiu, now ? They were supposed to go back to HQ, but both of them ended up being hungry after the hard work they've accomplished. And there was apparently a village not that far. That was just perfect to eat and then leave for HQ !
They both found a quiet spot for them to eat, big restaurants weren't really their thing. They knew that givers weren't really appreciated there so they wanted to avoid any big places as much as possible, not wanting people to start insulting them or maybe even worse. That wouldn't be the first time...
Enjin sighed as he sat at the edge of a well. It was quiet around, it seemed like barely anyone came around here. At least they won't be bothered by anyone while they tried to eat peacefully. Enjin unwrapped his sandwich as he took a small bite of it. Riyo, unlike Enjin, sat down on the ground as she unwrapped her own food and began to eat it. It was good, better than the food back at HQ. But they'll never admit that out loud.
As Riyo and Enjin began talking about their mission, Enjin suddenly lost balance and almost fell inside the well, fortunately for him, he was able to hold himself back in time before falling down, however his sandwich didn't have the same fate as it slipped off his hands. Falling inside the well and hitting the floor with a barely audible noise, alerting them that it had fell on the ground.
"Ugh shit" Enjin groaned as he accidentally dropped his sandwich in the well. As he went to looked inside to see if it was deep or not to be able to get his sandwich back, his eyes narrowed for a moment before they went wide with worry.
"Shit.." He mumbled, Riyo, confused, turned her head toward the older man to also look inside the well to see what made Enjin looked so panicked. When she realized she could have sworn her heart skipped a beat.
There was a kid in there.
Was he even alive ???
Enjin couldn't see the kid well, but the smell of blood began attacking his nostrils, indicating him that even if that kid was alive, he was most definitely injured. Enjin sighed in frustration. How were they even supposed to get that kid out of here ?!
Maybe if they found a ladder that would be possible...Would it be tho ?
They couldn't lose more time, they couldn't see the state of the kid very well after all and if it was bad they were just wasting time instead of helping a possible deadly injured kid escape his demise. Enjin gave Riyo a knowing look and she nodded, flying around the scene to go look for anything that could help them.
"God..." Enjin mumbled to himself as he picked at his nose. "Me who thought this would just be a day like the other..." A few seconds later and Riyo was back with a ladder.
"That's the only thing I could find." She commented as she looked down inside the well, the kid hadn't move an inch ever since she left. That was worrying. "I'll go get him."
"You're sure ?" Enjin asked her and she just nodded. Enjin sighed and told her to be careful, which she responded that 'she was always careful' (spoiler alert, she rarely was). Enjin knew that trying to hold Riyo back wasn't gonna do any good: That kid needed help and fast. "Okay, hurry ya ass up tho. Kay ?"
