This was new.
Completely and utterly new.
You poke and prod at the newly formed fangs that seem to uncomfortably be sticking out of your gums. You wrinkle your nose not knowing if you’re excited or utterly disappointed. You have worked around many vampires and had many encounters with them. You always had the thought of how it would feel to be one, to be turned to one. Now that it was actually happening you were really wishing you never wondered such things. ‘It’s like the universe is testing me.’ You thought to yourself. Whining as you rub your face, your paler skin being the next realization of this whole situation and go through all your options on what to do as you start to fully understand the gravity of this situation. The first and only reasonable thing you can think of doing is call your boyfriend. Park Seonghwa. Who also, by luck, is a vampire. Born into his powers unlike you who was turned.
You pick up your phone and dial the number you know by memory at this point. The phone rang a couple times until he picked up and his smooth and comforting voice rang through the phone’s speaker. “Hello?”
“Hey my love…do you think you can come over for a bit? I really need you. It’s something…unexpected.”
Originally when you called and asked for help he thought it was something small. ‘Maybe they couldn’t reach something on a top shelf or needed an opinion on an outfit.’ He thought to himself as he made his way to your shared home. What he wasn’t expecting was for his partner to be a vampire too. When he entered their small flat he called out to you with a hum.
“Y/N?” He asked when he didn’t hear anything back the first time. He put his coat on a coat rack at the front, taking off his shoes and making his way deeper into the flat. He looked around until he got startled at you suddenly appearing. Scarf wrapped around your shoulders, big sunglasses on and a tight lipped smile. He looked you over suspiciously, stepping closer confused on why he couldn’t hear your blood pumping. He took your hand and noticed how pale your skin seemed to have become. “Are you okay my love? You seem to be kind of…pale.” ‘And acting strange.’ He tried to be nice about it, still confused as to why you were acting the way you were.
“I’m fine!” You blurted out with no thought before shaking your head. “Okay no…I’m not fine but first let’s sit down, yeah?” He nodded slowly following behind you and sitting down in the living room, you sitting next to him. Taking a deep breath you begin.
“So you know I had a bit of a mission earlier today, right?” Seonghwa nodded along, being the only thing as he processed and tried to think of where this could be going. “Alright…and on this mission I ran into an out of control vampire. I think it hadn’t eaten and had become rash.” With that Seonghwa had become a bit stiff and you gently squeeze his hand before continuing. “It tackled me but I managed to get him off and we managed to take care of him. I thought I was free from any bites, just you know scratches so when I got home and cleaned myself off you’ll understand my initial surprise of seeing a bite mark on my shoulder and well…” You unwrap the scarf and sunglasses smiling with teeth this time to show off your new vampire-like features. Seonghwa took a minute to process everything before taking a deep breath and cupping your cheek with his hand.
“You do make quite a cute vampire. I’ll start with that.” You snort as he smiles gently, tucking hair behind your ear and noticing your new pointed ears. ‘They looked so small.’ He couldn’t help but mentally coo. He ran his thumb along your cheek before frowning a little. “I thought if you were to ever be turned it would be by me.”
“I know.” You sighed and gently moved to hug him, head going to his chest. “I should have been more careful.” Seonghwa let out his own breath before kissing your head.
“Don’t apologize my darling, it’s not your fault. You had to do your job.” It was silent for a minute until Hwa spoke again. “Plus now I can help you with all your vampire abilities.~” He smiled happily at the new found way to spend time with you. It would also be quite entertaining. You nodded slowly before you started nodding quicker with a much happier disposition.
“You’re right…that is why I called you in the first place. It can be bonding time.” You smile cheekily while Seonghwa playfully rolls his eyes. “My poor gums are so itchy, I don’t get how you can have these-.” You whined out next which brought a laugh out of your boyfriend and you just smiled more.
You’ll figure this out together.
The first place both decided to start was how to get blood reasonably.
Over the years there had been a new way for vampires to survive without actually needing blood for a good amount of time. But Hwa felt it necessary to teach you how to ethically get your blood in case of an emergency. Cattle were the closest thing to human blood and after a while there was cattle set to the side specifically to be drunk from. “Alright so you have to target the neck area. Anywhere else won’t give you a good enough feed.” Seonghwa explained as he pointed to a cow’s neck. “This area of nerves and veins specifically will be the best.” He made a circle motion with his finger at the area while you nodded taking in all this new information. You were aware of places like this because of your boyfriend and work but it was a lot harder than you expected.
You nervously moved forward, fangs drawn out still not getting how to retract them as you moved closer to the cow. “So…So I just bite down? Are they like straws?” Seonghwa couldn’t help the small laugh that left him causing you to pout and slap his arm a little. “It’s not funny! It’s a serious question!” Hwa laughed a bit more, waving his hands a bit.
“It is a little funny my darling.” He said, biting his bottom lip to hold back another wave of laughter as you stared at him with arms crossed. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry.” He apologized and held your hand, talking you through and helping you as you tried your best to feed for the first time.
“I did it!” You cheered before cringing a little. “That was such a weird thing to celebrate.” Seonghwa chuckled, gently wrapping an arm around your waist and pressing a kiss to the side of your head.
“You’ll get used to it.” He smiles softly at you, fondness and care in his eyes. “I’m proud of you. I know you’ll get used to all this real fast.” You smiled just as soft and pressed a kiss to his lips.
You were lucky to have a boyfriend who was so caring.
The next thing on the list was abilities. For now Seonghwa was trying to teach you how to retract your fangs along with turning into your bat form. As a turned vampire your abilities were slightly different. You didn’t float around like he could, could still see yourself in mirrors and could last longer without blood than him. You both shared the ability of super speed, turning into bats and a couple other things. Right now the two of you were sitting in your shared living room. It was a rainy day outside and both of you decided to take the day off from work. Seonghwa thought it would be a fun idea to practice some abilities. So here you both sat each looking across from each other, [Y/N] was open with their fangs on full display. “Alright now…focus!” You close your eyes and start to focus on your teeth. “Just focus on your teeth…your mouth. Imagine your fangs going back in.” You tried to picture what he was saying, focusing on the uncomfortable additions to your gums. After a couple minutes you open your eyes again and look at Hwa. “Did I do it?” You exclaimed while the man just shook his head gently.
“No…but it was a good first try.” He chuckled as you pouted and he pressed a soft peck to your lips. “Now, one more time. Try again.” He encouraged you and that’s how you spent the rest of the day. Eventually, with a lot of encouragement from Seonghwa, your fangs retracted back.
Now the challenge of getting them to come out again commenced.
A couple weeks after fang practice you and Hwa took a walk around a park you two liked to go to often. It was a nice place to unwind and just enjoy some quiet time together. This time around though you set some time aside to practice some shifting. There was a clearing with a pond right at the very edge, nice and quiet and a great place to concentrate. You did little twirls in the tall grass when you made it. Seonghwa smiled at you fondly as you enjoyed yourself, you looked beautiful and he just reminded himself how lucky he was to have you. He walked up next to you and wrapped his arm around your waist. He kisses your forehead while you smile big happily melting into his touch.
“Now, stand and concentrate. Kind of when we were practicing with your fangs. Focus on being a bat.” You nod as he steps away, you take a breath and close your eyes. Concentrate. “Now think of a bat, think of all its parts. Wings. Size.” You start picturing a bat in your head, how small they are and their wings, their textures. Fuzzy and furry chests and membrane for wings. You focused but you didn’t feel any change. You opened your eyes huffing and looked at Seonghwa who was patiently smiling at you and encouraging you to keep trying.
It took a couple of tries and a lot of concentration until you managed to shift. You squeaked in your new form, happy to have done it. You clumsily flew towards Hwa knocking into the side of his head before the shock made you shift back into your normal form. You whined as you rubbed your head and Hwa hissed a little, rubbing his own head. “I’m proud of you for figuring out how to shift but we have to practice your flying. You’re a little…clumsy.” He joked a bit, poking fun at you some more while you sat up on the ground and protested on how this was your first time and that he had to stop making fun of you. Your tall boyfriend laughed and smiled, said laughs becoming contagious as your own started to bubble and come out.
He walked closer and stood in front of you, leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to your lips. He pulled away and smiled at you, mirth swimming in his eyes.
He was really proud of you.
You both had quite enjoyed the last couple of months of bonding you’ve both managed to have with these new abilities of yours. You’ve learned a lot from Seonghwa and gained a new appreciation for your boyfriend. He’s taught you how to control your abilities, use them to their full potential and you were so grateful. Without him you weren’t sure how you would survive and most possibly wouldn’t have made it this far. Seonghwa also took something from this, he managed to learn more about you. He was a strong believer that you can always learn more about a person everyday and he learned so much about you. This whole experience solidified how much he cared and loved you.
With most of your abilities underway, a couple still need a little tweaking and honing down, you feel more comfortable to use them more often and when needed. The one thing though, that you’ll never seem to get used to is the sun.
The sun burned and itched. Not necessarily burn to death or end up with severe burns from direct sunlight but it was enough to irritate the skin. It created red blotches and made standing out on sunny days difficult and distasteful. Seonghwa has shown you a routine on how to protect your skin to keep it from itching and irritating when outside. It consisted of a high SPF sunscreen and a skin serum.
“I hate doing this.” You groaned putting on your sunscreen before packing it into your bag. You’ll have to reapply it later just so your skin doesn't itch all too much. Seonghwa also carries a parasol just in case when the sun gets to its highest point.
“I know but it’s helpful and you need it. Or do you keep wanting to get red blotches on your perfect skin?~” He gave a teasing smile and kissed your hand before intertwining your fingers together. You just playfully roll your eyes and mock him a little but look away with a small smile.
“Yeah, yeah! You charmer. Let’s just go. Errands won’t get done on their own.” You laugh gently tugging him out of the flat, stealing a quick kiss before leading him outside.
You love this little life of yours.
