Chapter Text
"You did it again," Mori said, looking down at the poor guy suffering on the floor of Dazai's office.
"And I assume this is your doing, isn't it?"
Of course Mori didn't answer his question.
"It's not my fault he claimed he can handle my glare," Dazai added.
Dazai crossed his arms and followed the boss with his gaze as he approached the mafioso, who was lying on the floor. The chamber lit up from a sudden lightning on the sky, revealing just for a brief moment the mess of papers and other documents scattered on the desk. The room was lit only by a dim lamp positioned beside the desk as the raindrops were sliding down the window.
"And you had to prove him wrong, right?" Mori sighed.
He crouched down next to the man and gently stroked his head, trying to calm him down while whispering something which sounded like encouragement in a low voice. It made Dazai wince.
"You'll kill someone like this one day," Mori turned his head to Dazai. "You have to learn to control yourself. At this rate, it doesn't even matter how strong the sub is. You're too rough."
Dazai fixed him with his eyes. "You trained my glare to be strong like yours, now you're mad that I'm too rough?"
Mori glared back at Dazai with a serious look in his eyes. To him, Dazai sounded rather defensive than rebellious, but he still didn't like his attitude towards the matter.
"Don't get me wrong, Dazai-kun, I'm very proud of your progress, but now you have to learn to control it."
"Why? I can command whoever I want and I'll be satisfied," Dazai said.
Mori did not reply right away, giving Dazai the opportunity to watch quietly how the man he had almost sent into subdrop, more or less intentionally, was now slowly calming down.
"And what if there will be a time when you won't be able to do that so freely?" Mori spoke again. "Remember, now I have good subs in the Mafia as well. We've changed our ways and the Mafia no longer tolerates dynamic discrimination. You can't be a good leader if everyone is afraid of you."
Dazai was aware that he won't be able to fix his problem if he doesn't understand where his mistake was here, but he was truly clueless and somewhat indifferent for now.
"I'll look for someone more suitable for your temper," Mori continued as he stood up.
He wished that what happened here would be a lesson for Dazai, though he wasn't very optimistic about it.
"Go ahead," Dazai replied. "But don't expect the impossible from me."
