Work Text:
Minho usually got whatever he wanted. Since childhood, if he wanted something, he made sure he did what he needed to do to get it. A new toy? He doubled down on chores to save enough allowance. Staying up late? He perfected his puppy dog eyes and they never failed him.
When he met Jeongin, the pattern continued. He wanted Jeongin’s number, so he got it. He wanted to take the man on a date, so he booked a restaurant reservation. He wanted to claim Jeongin for himself, and he got that, too, in the form of the title boyfriend.
Minho always loved cats. He fed strays on his way to and from school, and he always kept extra treats in his jacket pockets even in his adult years. His friends referred to him as their cat hyung since he shared many traits with the feline species.
Luckily for Minho, Jeongin loved to indulge in his cat-loving habits. He made sure Minho never left their home without at least one cat treat on him. He bought endless cat-related trinkets that reminded him of Minho; keychains, kitchen appliances, stickers, the list goes on.
Jeongin did not indulge in Minho’s begging for a pet cat. He didn’t want a cat in their house. He didn’t grow up with pets like Minho did, and he certainly didn’t want to start down that path now. He’d buy Minho all the cat treats he could ever desire, so long as the cats remained stray.
Naturally, Minho tried to get what he wanted. In this case, he wanted a pet cat. He promised to be the sole caretaker of the pet; Jeongin would never have to scoop litter or feed the animal. The cat would have its own space so it wouldn’t intrude in Jeongin’s, and Minho would make sure the cat didn’t overstep any of his boyfriend’s boundaries. He explained this all to Jeongin, but his boyfriend continued to decline.
For the first time ever, Minho wasn’t getting what he wanted. This couldn’t possibly be the final outcome, so he thought and thought about how he could loophole his way into having a cat in their home. After endless sleepless nights and hours upon hours of research, he finally figured it out.
A hybrid. Genius, isn’t it? Not entirely an animal, but not entirely human, either. Jeongin wouldn’t have to scoop litter, the hybrid would be able to use the bathroom. Jeongin wouldn’t have to worry about buying extra cat food, the hybrid would eat human food. Specifically, Minho’s cooking.
Minho gathered the courage he deemed necessary, and sat Jeongin down on the couch one afternoon to relay his master plan.
“Hyung, that’s worse than an animal,” Jeongin deadpanned.
Perfect-! Wait, what?!
“What?!” Minho gasped. “How is that worse? You wouldn’t even have to do anything!”
“An entire human in our house? Minho-hyung, please tell me you’re kidding.”
Minho was getting upset. He spent all this time and energy on this plan for it to be shut down this quickly? No, it wasn’t over yet. He was going to get what he wanted. “Can we at least visit a shelter? Just to look- maybe you’ll change your mind? Please?”
“I doubt I’ll change my mind, hyung,” Jeongin went to pull his phone out, bored with the direction of the conversation, but a hand on his wrist stopped him.
Minho looked at his boyfriend and blinked a few times, jut his bottom lip out just a bit, and sighed through his nose. “Please, Innie? For me?”
Jeongin winced. “Hyung…”
“Pretty please? Just one visit, and I won’t ask again, promise,” Minho begged. He even managed to make his eyes a little teary, for the extra effect.
Jeongin sighed, and Minho had to bite his tongue to keep from smiling. He won. A sigh like that from Jeongin usually meant victory for Minho.
“Alright, one visit.”
Perfect! Minho deemed little victories just as important as the bigger ones.
~~
Jeongin allowed himself to be dragged to the shelter, but not without complaining. He asked so many questions, hoping Minho would grow annoyed enough to just turn around and go home, but the other man was heavily prepared.
Do we really have to go? Yes, he promised.
Are hybrid shelters even a thing? Obviously, how else would they be going to one.
Are we there yet? No, just a few more minutes of driving.
Eventually, Jeongin’s questions became more specific. If Minho wasn’t mistaken, it sounded as if Jeongin was beginning to find interest in this trip. But he wouldn’t dare say it aloud, lest he ruin the moment. He’ll answer the questions and keep the giddiness to himself.
Do these shelters treat the hybrids well? Not all of them do, which is why Minho found one that does.
Do you think I’ll be good at something like this? Taking care of someone else? Yeah, Jeongin would be great at it. (Minho took a few extra seconds to respond to that one, the serious undertones of it caught him off guard.)
The questions stopped after that, and the remaining few minutes of the car ride were quiet. When they arrived, Minho found a good place to park, and turned the car off. He turned to face Jeongin, who was already looking at him.
“You ready?” Minho’s voice was soft, comforting. It’s as if he knew Jeongin was a little nervous, and he was trying to soothe his subconscious worries.
“I guess, let’s get this over with.” Jeongin had no intentions of leaving that hybrid shelter with anyone other than Minho.
That was, until he laid eyes on Chan.
Chan was the sweetest kitten Jeongin had ever met, and he met a lot of cats, thanks to Minho. Chan’s hair was short, curly, and blonde, and his fluffy cat ears and tail were the same color. His eyes were small and beady, his nose was big and his lips were full and pink. His voice was soft, a little more on the quieter side, and Jeongin had to strain his ears to hear the hybrid speak for the first time.
Introductions were quick, and Jeongin found himself holding the front door of the shelter open for two people less than an hour after they arrived.
“Ready to go home, Channie?”
✨📷✨
Chan got everything he wanted, no doubt about it. With Minho and Jeongin as his owners, there wasn’t a day that went by where Chan wasn’t absolutely spoiled.
His Minho-hyungie was a material spoiler. He bought Chan so many types of clothes, something the hybrid was not used to before being adopted. He had his own walk-in closet, and Minho made sure to rotate the clothes in it for every season. He had so many pretty sweaters, shirts, jeans, and endless pairs of shoes.
Minho seemed to never run out of money. He bought Chan so many collars, one in every color of the rainbow and then some. Chan had collars with different materials, some with bells and some with ribbons, some for extra special occasions, and collars for specific holidays. The collars had their own dresser in his closet, and Chan enjoyed looking through them all when he got bored.
Chan had a very impressive collection of toys, too. He had a scratching post in every room, his own basket of yarn, and a hefty collection of stuffed animals as well. Minho got him a new toy almost weekly, and Chan never once complained. He treated all of his toys with upmost respect and took such good care of them. (His Jeongin-hyung always scoffed when Chan was presented with yet another gift from Minho, but not once did he ever intervene.)
Jeongin preferred to spoil Chan with acts of service. He was worried he wouldn’t be able to take good enough care of a hybrid, so he tried his very best to make Chan’s everyday life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
To start, Jeongin curated a perfect sleep schedule for his kitten. When he was adjusting to his new environment, Chan had trouble sleeping. So, Jeongin helped him. He gave Chan a bedtime that worked for him, and the hybrid took scheduled naps throughout the day, too.
Jeongin made sure Chan was adequately fed and hydrated every day, pestering Minho about the nutritional values of his cooking. He worried about whether or not the food Chan was eating would be gentle enough on his sensitive stomach, how much energy it would give the hybrid, and, of course, if the meals were tasty enough to satisfy the kitten. He was always shooed away, though, since Minho was just as concerned about their kitten’s health as he was.
Chan never had the chance to feel anything but clean when living with Jeongin and Minho. Bath time with Jeongin was equivalent to a spa retreat. Jeongin scrubbed his hair and tail so gently it felt like a therapeutic massage, always leaving Chan a little drowsy afterwards. His body wash smelled like vanilla, and his shampoo and conditioner smelled like peaches. He had his own products for his cat fur, too. Jeongin did extra research to ensure Chan’s tail and ears were properly cared for.
Minho took up the role of brushing and combing Chan’s hybrid features. He brushed Chan’s tail every night before the hybrid went to sleep, and the action quickly became associated with the beginning of his nighttime routine. He got brushed by Minho-hyungie, then he changed into his pajamas for the night (usually picked out by Jeongin) and curled into bed, waiting to be tucked in. His owners smothered him in kisses and reminded him how much they loved him every night, never missing a day.
Chan loved his new life. He loved his closet full of clothes, his bins full of toys and yarn. He loved his owners and how well they took care of him. But, his favorite thing about being owned by Minho and Jeongin was by far the day trips.
When he arrived home, Minho made it clear that Chan would get plenty of outside time. He didn’t want to keep the hybrid cooped up at home like one would a full cat, since Chan was still partly human. So, Minho set up a system. Chan would be taken out on little day trips once a week, sometimes more than that, to make sure he got his fair share of sunlight and social exposure.
Minho and Jeongin took Chan to many different places during his day trips. He’s gone to the aquarium, the beach, and even the airport (not on the plane just yet, just the front desk to drop Minho off for a work trip). Sometimes, the trips weren’t even planned. He’d tag along with Jeongin when he went to check the mail, he’d trail behind Minho when he went to take the trash out.
Chan’s favorite day trip location was the park. The trio frequented the local park very often, as there were many things to do with it. They’ve had picnics, gone flower picking, and just the occasional walk around.
~~
It was around noon on a Saturday when the doorbell rang, the noise rousing Chan from his nap. He rubbed his eyes and scratched his head, yawned a few times before crawling out of bed. He slid his fluffy slippers onto his feet, pulled one of Jeongin’s hoodies over his head, and left his room to go investigate the source of the noise.
“Oh, Channie’s awake,” Jeongin says, a smile growing on his face. He’s standing over Minho, who’s sitting at the dining table with a box in front of him. Chan walks the rest of the way over to them, snuggling against Jeongin’s side. “Hi baby, sleep well?”
Chan nods, focusing his attention on the box. “What’s in there?”
“I’m not entirely sure,” Minho mumbles, reaching for the box cutter, “but I think it might be my new camera.”
The tape around the box is quickly cut, and Minho does the rest of the work opening the package. Lo and behold, his new camera! He takes it out of its heavy packaging and holds it up for Chan and Jeongin to see.
“Isn’t it pretty? Do you like it, Channie?” Minho asks. He noticed the way Chan’s ears began to swivel when he looked at the new piece of technology, signaling curiosity.
“Mhm, it’s very pretty,” Chan replies.
Jeongin also compliments the camera, after which he goes about his day.
Chan remains glued to Minho’s side, watching his owner set up the new camera. When Minho goes out onto the back porch to test it out, Chan is right behind him, his fluffy blonde tail flicking around gently. He watches as Minho takes photos of the sky, the flowers, and then one of himself.
“Can I see, hyungie?” Chan asks so politely, and who is Minho to say no?
Minho shows the hybrid the photo results, smiling when Chan expresses his approval for how they turned out. They repeat the process a few more times, Minho finding things to take pictures of and Chan judging the outcome, before Minho deems the camera thoroughly tested out. He puts the camera back in its case and away on a shelf, but it doesn’t leave Chan’s mind.
For the next few days, Chan thinks about the camera. When he wakes up a little earlier than usual, he watches the sunrise through his bedroom window and imagines how pretty it would look through the lens of Minho’s new camera. When Minho cooks him a delicious dinner, he thinks of the camera again, wishing he could capture the moment. He even falls asleep thinking about the camera one night, wondering if it would be able to capture the beauty of a starry night.
Chan forgets about the camera eventually, and goes back to his normal routine. Today, Minho had to go into the office for work, so it’s just Jeongin home with him until Minho gets back. Chan spends his day at ease, lounging in his favorite spot under the window in the living room. He has his own fluffy carpet on the floor in said spot, and it gets perfect sunlight, warm enough to put the hybrid right to sleep.
When Chan wakes from his spontaneous (but surprisingly on schedule) nap, he’s pleasantly surprised to find Minho home early. He sits upright and stretches his arms and back, letting out an involuntary mewl and alerting his owners of his consciousness.
“Oh, big stretch. C’mere kitty, hyung has something for you,” Minho coos, beckoning Chan over with a hand. Chan is older than both Minho and Jeongin, but he insists on referring to them both as hyung, claiming that since his owners treat him like the youngest in the household, it’s only right to fulfill the role.
Chan joins Minho on the couch, crawling into his lap and shoving his head of fluffy hair under Minho’s neck. He’s still a little drowsy from his nap, and he rubs at his puffy eyes with a sleepy pout on his face. “Somethin’ for me?”
“Mhm, Innie’s on his way back from the post office with it,” Minho mumbles, rubbing his cheek against the hybrid’s head. He can smell the faint lingering scent of peach from Chan’s shampoo, and he sniffs a little deeper to get another hint of it. His hands find their way around Chan’s waist; one rubbing his back and the other scratching gently at the base of his fluffy tail.
Chan purrs at the affection, his fluffy ears swiveling atop his head and flicking against Minho’s lip. His body goes lax in his owner’s hold, and he recalls that he didn’t hear Jeongin leaving earlier, he must’ve been too deeply asleep. He can feel his eyes begin to shut again when he’s suddenly forced to sit up.
“You can’t fall back to sleep, baby. You’ll miss your surprise, and Jeonginnie will be upset if your schedule is messed up,” Minho chuckles at the whine that leaves the hybrid’s mouth, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “He should be here soon, I promise you’ll want to be awake for it.”
As if on cue, the front door unlocks and Jeongin lets himself in. Chan jumps up immediately, stumbling over his feet when he runs over to the front door.
“Oh, you’re awake!” Jeongin smiles, scratching under Chan’s chin.
“Mhm. S’that for me? Minho-hyungie said you were bringing something for me, is that it?” Chan points to the box in Jeongin’s hands, one of his his ears swiveling around to catch the faint sound of Minho moving behind him.
“Channie, mind your manners,” Minho tuts.
“Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. We’ll have to find out, won’t we?” Jeongin smirks, toeing his shoes off and heading to the dining room with Chan on his heel.
The mystery cardboard box is placed on the table, and Chan finds a seat to wait until it’s opened. Minho arrives with the box cutter, and he waits for Jeongin to change into more comfortable clothes before he opens it.
“Do you have any guesses about what it could be, Channie?” Minho asks. He’s cut the tape around the box, but he keeps it closed to build suspense.
Chan hums, thinking so hard his forehead wrinkles. “No, I’ve no idea what it could be. Do you know, Jeonginnie-hyung?”
Jeongin shrugs. “No clue. You know I’m not in charge of buying things.”
Minho scoffs, rolling his eyes at Jeongin before turning to Chan with a much softer expression. “Close your eyes, kitty. I’ll tell you when to open.”
Chan complies like the good boy he is, using his hands to cover his eyes. He hears the rustling of the cardboard box, and the sound of another box being placed in front of him. “Can I look now?”
Minho hums an affirmative, and Chan removes his hands from over his eyes.
In front of him is a box, and on the front of the box is… a camera? It looks very similar to the one Minho got a few weeks ago, and it makes Chan confused.
“A camera?” He asks, looking between Minho and Jeongin, waiting for an explanation.
“Yeah, baby. It’s your camera,” Minho explains with a laugh.
Chan gasps, looking back at the camera and lifting the box into his hands. He turns it over and around, inspecting the box and all its details. “It’s really for me?”
Minho nods. “I noticed how much you liked my camera, so I got you one of your own. Do you like it?”
Chan smiles, dimples and all, and jumps out of his seat to give Minho a big hug. “I love it, thank you thank you!”
Minho laughs, returning the hug and leaving a kiss between Chan’s fluffy ears. “Here, let me open it for you.”
“Can I test it out? Like- like how you did with yours? In the backyard?” Chan’s tail flicks behind him as he talks, and Jeongin runs his fingers through the fluffy fur.
Minho helps him set the new camera up, and Chan is obsessed with his new device. He takes so many pictures outside, making sure to thoroughly inspect each one to make sure they look good enough. He snaps some photos of ants in the dirt, the flowers in Jeongin’s garden, the clouds in the sky, and he even directs his owners into a couple poses to take some photos of them, too.
Once they all deemed the camera well tested out, they went back inside and carried on with their days. Minho got started cooking an early dinner, and Jeongin helped Chan transfer his photos from his camera onto his laptop.
The rest of the evening went by smoothly, and it was time for Chan’s bedtime routine to begin. He got his tail brushed by Minho in the living room and let Jeongin help him dress into his pajamas (a comfy t-shirt and shorts set with a rubber duck pattern), all while chatting endlessly about his new camera. He brushed his teeth thoroughly and crawled into bed, waiting for his owners to come and tuck him in.
Minho and Jeongin filed into Chan’s bedroom a few minutes later, both in their own pajamas and looking ready for bed themselves. Jeongin made sure the kitten’s noise machine was set to the right level, and that his night light was working properly, and he tucked Chan’s blanket up under his neck tightly,
“Innie, he’ll sweat,” Minho nagged, pulling the blanket down to rest against the hybrid’s stomach instead. “Kitty, tomorrow’s an out day, right?”
Chan nodded, pawing at his eyes with a yawn. “We’ll go out tomorrow. With both of you, or just one?”
“Both, baby,” Jeongin cuts in. “Actually, Minho-hyung and I were thinking we could go to the park? Maybe you could take some pretty pictures with your new camera, does that sound good?”
Chan smiles at the offer. “Oh, yes please! Will Minho-hyungie bring his camera, too? So we can take pictures together?”
Minho nods. “That sounds like a great idea, kitty baby.”
Jeongin nods, leaning down to deliver his nightly round of kisses to his kitty’s face, Minho doing the same afterwards. They leave Chan’s bedroom door cracked just a little, just in case he’d need to find them during the night.
✨📷✨
Chan woke up the next morning with one thing in mind: the park.
He ate his breakfast quietly, brainstorming all the different things he was going to capture with his new camera. Minho made delicious pancakes and prepared an assortment of fruit to go with it, and Chan ended up covered in syrup by the end of his meal. Luckily, Minho was there to clean him up, and he sent Chan off to get dressed with Jeongin afterwards.
Jeongin put himself in charge of what Chan wears when they go out. Sure, Minho may buy all the clothes and accessories, but Jeongin is the true fashionista of the household.
While Chan was eating breakfast, Jeongin was rummaging through the hybrid’s closet for an outfit. He found a cute pair of baggy grey jeans and some nice boots, but he was struggling to decide on a top.
“Jeonginnie-hyung?” Chan’s voice calls from the bedroom. Great, Chan can help him decide.
“I’m in the closet, Channie! Come help me pick a sweater for you,” Jeongin says. When Chan arrives, eyes bright and tail swishing behind him, Jeongin presents him with the two sweater options. It’s a bit chilly out, so a sweater is necessary. The first option is a butter yellow one, and the other is a muted beige with black crosses on the forearms. “Do you like either of these?”
Chan hums, his eyes flickering between the two options. “This one!” He picks the beige one with the crosses, and Jeongin nods.
“Good choice, I think this’ll look so cute on you.”
Jeongin helps the hybrid get dressed, pulling his tail through the hole in his jeans and fixing his sweater around his waist. Chan is about to leave the room when Jeongin remembers he’s missing something.
“Baby wait, your collar,” Jeongin calls. He picked out a grey collar to match the kitty’s jeans, and it has silver accents and a bell in the middle. “Does it feel good? Not too tight?”
“No, s’good,” Chan hums.
Chan waits in the living room for his owners to finish getting ready. He has his new camera in his lap, with the shoulder strap connected and settled around his shoulder comfortably. After a few minutes, Minho and Jeongin emerge from their room ready to go. Minho is in an all black outfit with a green camo cap and his camera strapped around his shoulder, and Jeongin is wearing a light blue hoodie with a beanie and some jeans.
“You ready to go?” Jeongin asks, checking his pockets for his wallet.
“Mhm, let’s go take pictures!”
~~
The walk to the park isn’t very far, and Chan leads the way excitedly. They’ve been enough times for all three of them to know the way by heart.
“Kitty, not too far. Stay where we can see you!” Minho calls, smiling when Chan slows his pace. He takes his own camera from around his shoulders and pulls it up to his face to sneak a quick photo of his baby before lowering it.
Chan guides his owners through the park, stopping every few feet to admire a different area. He takes photos of the various flower beds that line the pathway, squatting down to get a closer view.
Minho takes some photos for himself, too, but most of his are of Chan. The hybrid is ridiculously photogenic, making him the perfect muse. After each click of the camera, Jeongin asks to see the result, which leads to him holding Minho’s camera for most of the outing.
Chan walks around a corner and gasps, turning back to his owners with a big grin on his face. “Look, look! Kitties!”
Minho and Jeongin catch up to Chan, who’s bouncing on his feet at the sight. The cobblestone hill in front of them is littered with kittens, all different colors and breeds.
“Can I pet them, pleease?” Chan begs, batting his eyelashes up at Minho.
“You can, but remember our rules, okay?”
“I remember! Be gentle and don’t shout, since the kitties can’t talk back to me,” Chan recalls, turning on his heel to tiptoe towards the array of kittens.
Jeongin chuckles, reaching for Minho’s camera to take it out of his hands. “Show me how this works, I want to take a picture of him.”
“It’s really not rocket science, aim the lens and press this button,” Minho uses his hand to guide Jeongin’s into the right positions, “make sure you don’t press the one next to it, that’s the flash.”
Jeongin hums, squeezing one eye closed to get a better view through the little window. He waits until Chan smiles at one of the kittens to snap the picture, and it comes out perfectly.
“Send that one to me later, hyung,” Jeongin tells Minho when handing the camera back.
“Maybe.”
Chan squeals, and it catches their attention. They look up to find him sitting on the hill, surrounded by the stray cats. They’ve arranged themselves around him in a circle, some even leaning against him.
“Oh my god, how cute is that,” Minho whispers to himself before walking over to Chan. “They like you, Channie.”
“I know! I’m being so still, so they won’t leave,” Chan whispers. He’s holding his hands above his waist and he isn’t moving an inch, enjoying all the attention he’s getting from his new feline friends.
Minho smiles, aiming his camera towards the group of cats. “Smile for me, kitty,” he directs, and Chan flashes a heart warming grin, his dimples appearing. “So pretty, baby.”
Chan blushes, and suddenly he’s done with the cats. He stands carefully, stepping out of the circle and finding somewhere else to take photos. Minho and Jeongin follow, taking in the nice weather. The wind was blowing, but not enough to make any of them too cold.
“Oh, here!” Chan stops walking and points to his left, towards the steep slope of big rocks that resemble a small mountain. “Can I climb it? Like a goat!”
“Absolutely not.”
“Go ahead, baby.”
“Jeongin! He could hurt himself up there!” Minho frowns.
“He’ll be fine, he won’t go that high. Right, Channie? Just a little bit for a picture?” Jeongin asks, and Chan nods. “See? He’s fine, relax.”
Minho rolls his eyes, but holds Chan’s camera for him nonetheless. “Be careful, Channie, watch your step!”
Jeongin is tasked with taking the photo of their hybrid, Minho’s too focused worrying. He steps a few feet back to get a fuller view, cooing to himself when Chan finally finds a steady spot.
“He’s so tiny up there, hyung,” Jeongin mumbles to Minho. “So precious.”
Jeongin snaps a few photos, then Chan finds a different spot atop the rocks to pose.
“Is here good?!” He shouts down, waiting for confirmation.
“It’s perfect, smile!” Minho shouts back, trying his best to be supportive.
After what seems like years to Minho, Chan finally returns to the ground. He skips back to his owners, begging to see the results of his goat-inspired photoshoot, giggling at the photos.
The rock wall marked the end of the park’s path, so they begin their walk back towards the entrance. Chan takes this time to admire the scenery, his camera hanging over his shoulder and bumping against his stomach with every step he takes.
Jeongin walks behind the others, pulling his phone out and taking a few pictures of his own. He takes a few of the trees and the flowers, and a couple of the clouds above. Minho and Chan stop walking to crouch down and look at some bugs, and Jeongin spots the perfect photo opportunity.
A butterfly lands on the tip of Chan’s fluffy kitten tail, and Jeongin moves as slowly as he can to get close enough to snap a photo of the event. The picture captures both Minho and Chan, both crouching down, but the butterfly is the real eye catcher. He keeps that photo for himself, adding it to his favorites album immediately.
“Aw man, we’re all done,” Chan sulks when they reach the park entrance gates once again.
“It’s alright, kitty. Once we get home, we can print out all your pretty pictures!” Minho soothes, scratching behind one of Chan’s ears with a gentle hand.
The hybrid nods, maneuvering himself between his two owners and intertwining both of his hands with theirs. They walk like that the rest of the way home, only parting hands so Minho can reach his keys from his pocket.
“Can we print the pictures now? Please?” Chan asks as soon as he changes into his inside clothes. He’s got his camera clutched to his chest and he points towards Minho’s camera. “Hyung’s too, he took pretty ones.”
Jeongin nods, taking Minho’s camera and guiding Chan into his office where the printer is. They get all of the pretty pictures printed, and Chan returns to the living room with his hands full of photos.
He sets them down on his favorite rug, the one under the window, and sits down on the soft fabric. Jeongin and Minho watch him from their spot on the couch across the living room, and Jeongin pulls his phone out to check the time.
“He should be napping soon, it’s almost half past eleven.”
Minho waves him off gently, pulling Jeongin into his arms with ease. “He’s nearly there, look at him.”
Chan’s struggling to go even a minute without yawning, and the sunlight from the window is only making him even more drowsy. He’s laid down on his back, flipping through the photos in his hands slowly, admiring them all.
“He’s so sleepy, that walk must’ve done it for him,” Jeongin comments.
“Yeah, and the rock climbing,” Minho adds with a snarl.
“You’re not gonna let that go, are you? He’s fine,” Jeongin mumbles.
Minho goes to reply again, but he stops when he notices that Chan’s fallen asleep. The photos are spread out around him, and a few of them are resting against his chest in his hands.
“I’ll clean the pictures up, so he doesn’t roll over them,” Minho offers, moving to stand from the couch.
“Wait, not yet,” Jeongin whispers. He grabs his phone out again and tiptoes over to the snoozing hybrid on the carpet, carefully standing behind his head. He aims his phone downwards and takes a final handful of pictures, in different angles, then puts his phone away. “Now you can go, I’ll go get an empty album for the pictures.”
Minho nods, cooing at Chan’s sleepy pout. His ears are swiveling around rhythmically, he must be dreaming.
“Don’t forget to send me your pictures, Jeonginnie. Don’t think I didn’t see you taking some, too,” Minho whispers.
“No way, these are all mine.”
Minho rolls his eyes, looking back towards Chan and the photos. He’s managed to pick up the ones around him, but the kitten still has a few of them in his hands. Minho leans forward to peek at them, and his heart melts when he sees which ones Chan is holding onto so tightly.
The photos show all three of them, Chan managed to figure out how to use the countdown feature on his camera to capture them all without an extra set of hands. In one of the photos, Jeongin is sitting in an empty shopping cart that Chan insisted they used as a prop, and he and Minho are standing behind the cart, posing. The other photo is a selfie taken from Minho’s camera. In it, Chan’s arms are wrapped around Minho’s shoulders, and Jeongin is holding the camera up while making a peace sign.
Minho sighs softly, running his fingers through the hybrid’s hair and feeling him purr. He’ll let Chan hold those while he sleeps, he wouldn’t want to wake the dreaming kitten so early into his nap. They can put those special photos in frames when Chan wakes up, Minho will let his kitten choose which ones they go in.
~~
Minho always gets what he wants. He wanted Jeongin, and he got him. He wanted Chan, and he got him too. He wanted his camera, and he’ll forever cherish the memories he’s made with it.
