Summary
Witches and familiars go together like pb&j, like hot chocolate and marsh mellows, like Sundays and sweet tea. Witches are most powerful with a compatible familiar, spells amplified and potions intensified and familiars are endlessly loyal, terrifyingly protective with a Witch to call their own.
But an incompatible pair is just trouble and that's when matchmakers are needed.
Tony is a former witch cursed to the familiar form, bratty and sassy and a pain in the ass, rejected by a dozen other witches for sheer snarkiness and fully content to lounge in the sun instead of work. Bucky is a witch lost from his coven, quiet and sullen, struggling with even simple spells after his injury and definitely NOT excited about having a cat.
They fight from day one, are fully ridiculous from day two but despite their complaints, the matchmakers refuses to separate the pair. Tony and Bucky are like oil and water, like pineapple and pizza, like hexes and honeysuckle–
–until one day Tony uses his mostly dormant powers to walk through Bucky’s dreams and learns there’s more to the witch than he ever thought possible.

“Where’s Tony? I can't leave without him,” Steve said, looking everywhere but at his enormous body and large wings that were shimmering with scales of red and gold.
Staring closely at the smoke trickling out of his own nostrils, Tony mumbled the first words that came to mind, “Tony - he’s inside.”
Steve’s gaze followed the lines of his neck toward his chest, and rested for a few moments on his abdomen, before his bright blue eyes widened in horror. The king drew his sword, and pointed it at Tony's armoured chest.
“I didn’t eat him,” Tony said. "Tony is fine. Can't explain right now. Besides, I don't think you'll ever believe me.”

Summary
HYDRA didn't create only one magic-user while in possession of Loki's scepter. There's another, and his powers are... a little different from Wanda's. The Avengers crew breaks into a HYDRA base to rescue Tony, who was kidnapped three weeks ago. Only, he isn't the way he was when he left them to go check out the place. Instead, he's now five and a half years old. And he's absolutely terrified of Steve. The Avengers do what they can to keep little-Tony happy until they can get Strange to come take a look at him, and (hopefully) change him back to his rightful age. It's not so easy dealing with a traumatized five-year-old, though, especially one who has some major attachment issues. Toward Bucky, of all people. Throw in some HYDRA shenanigans, and it makes for an interesting time, if not the most peaceful. Older-Tony isn't going to appreciate how much little-Tony blabs, either, but it's pretty hard to tell a five-year-old to shut up when no one wants to hurt his feelings...

Tony is an octo-mer. He’s supposed to be aloof and alone, with little interest in others - but really, he thinks it’d be nice to be able to use all these arms he has to hold someone.
Bucky is a shark-mer which means he should also be content to be alone. He shouldn't want to be held, especially not by an octo-mer who could kill him, and he certainly shouldn't want someone to travel the migration with, and yet...
Rhodey laughed, his tentacles waving through the water, gesturing Tony on. “That whirlpool of danger is all yours.”
