Summary
Cloud is the new bassist of Vortex, an up-coming band in the myriad that are competing in the Battle of the Bands. He is blunt & cold to everyone, even his bandmates. In fact, he doesn’t speak much and barely gives anybody attention. But when Full Bloom needs a guitarist real bad ‘cuz one of the members can’t perform, he gets all awkward and clumsy around a certain singer named Aerith.
Yeah, that totally breaks his aloof persona and that’s just what the singer wanted all along.
At times, he’s like a daffodil — sweet, fragile yet resilient at the same time. Ready to embark into something new, clumsily flourishing in her hands as he laughs highly like nobody else ever sees him. In those moments, she wonders why her? What was it about her attitude that made him open up like leaves of yellow daffodils?
Slowly plucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ears and leaning closer with the prudence necessary (if not more than). He expected nothing from her at all and if she had to guess, he would’ve never been disappointed if she rejected him.
But she could never oppose him.

When the Halidom of Ylisse is right on the brink of war, an unknown mercenary by the name of Cloud Strife descends from the sky, rippling the predestined course of fate. And when foreign evils follow, the fate of the world and the destiny of another collide. And as fate had it, this swordsman was not the only one destined to arrive here. Because, after all, nobody dies forever.
This story is a partial retelling of Fire Emblem: Awakening from multiple character's perspectives, primarily Robin and Cloud. It contains an altered ending in order to expand upon each work.

Cloud looked down at her leg, then into her eyes. “...Huh?”

The bit of moonlight that was able to get into the room reflected silver across her hair. He could still smell her flowers. Without understanding his own mind, he had a sudden urge to touch those soft strands, to see if her hair felt as beautiful as it looked. He pulled his glove off.

Aerith kissed Cloud the day he learned her name, and it all went downhill from there. Well, she didn't actually, but Cloud counted it anyway.
Or: Cloud, Aerith, and the many, many kisses it takes them to get their act together.
Or: Cloud is 100% the kinda guy to go, "Okay, sure, she's always flirting with me and has kissed me several times, but I don't think she's interested in me that way."

Cloud doesn't know Aerith, he knows of her, and they've met a few times. But as Zack brushes off seeing her more and more in favor of his work, Cloud thinks maybe she'd appreciate the company. Only in becoming friends do they realize their more deep seated issues and feelings.
