Summary
The moment the phone went off, I couldn't help but blink and freeze up, Foggy giving me shit, tugging on my arm, “You guys go ahead, I'll catch up.”
“Come on, Matt! Oh, a second phone? Who is she? A sugar momma? Or a repeat customer? Hm?”
I rolled my eyes and shook my head as I waved him off, smiling at Karen's lack of fear at the taunts. She's, she's improved to my presences at least... Compared to what it was, it made me smile even as she tugged Foggy off toward the bar and I tucked myself down the alley, “Hello?”
“Someone's in the apartment...”Series

Matt was smiling, cutting up an apple when Claire shifted in the bedroom to pull on something before she shuffled out. “Morning.”
“Yeah, it's morning alright,” Claire grumbled with a yawn as she settled onto the stool across from him. She grumbled before chuckling, “How is this my life?” Matt snickered as he shifted his fingers away from the blade as he cut the seeds out and set a slice in the dish, “How, how old even are you? I mean, this isn't like... You're a kid, Mike!”
“Matthew-”
“Huh?”
“Matthew, my name... is Matt. And, um, would you believe I hit 24 a few months ago?”
“What? Seriously?!”Series

Summary
Matt was running late, he shuffled through the door, intending to apologize when his entire world narrowed to the person standing across from Foggy. “Foggy, a word...”
“Matt, hey, nice of you to join us,” Foggy's voice held annoyance, yeah, he knew he was late but at least he called! “This is- I'm sorry I didn't catch your name.”
Oh, Matt felt his skin crawl when the person seemed to finally turn and take notice of him right back, “I'm a messenger, is all. I have a case my employer doesn't wish to bother a larger firm with. You must be Murdock.”

“We have a problem... It seems I'm not the only Deal maker involved anymore-”
Matt winced as he closed the door behind him, “Matt, buddy, where have you been?”
“I told you, I was tracking the chain...” His side was still screaming at him, “Do, do you have another shirt?”
“What happened to your spare?”
“I, uh, bled through it,” Matt grumbled as he shifted his shirt away from his still pained side.

Summary
If you need something done, off the books and not exactly legally, there was one place to guarantee to get it done... usually messily. Matt knew of the place, he'd tracked it down many years ago, hearing those like him whispering about 'home' on occasion. Ever since his self imposed Ban on Demons and Devils in the Kitchen, he stayed clear of the place, given he's physically left a few uncooperative souls limping back to it when he caught others making Deals in his territory. He wasn't too surprised when the door closing behind signaled a lull in the noise. “Shit,” Matt just smiled at the bartender, poor soul, ended up stuck as a servant to the Damned... He'd never know his story beyond that. “What,” he stepped up to the bar, “What brings you here tonight, Murdock?”

Summary
“Look at this, just, Jesus Christ, what the hell is happening to this city?” Matt winced at the paper dropped on his desk, still feeling like an ass for not being able to help Foggy during the explosion at Elene's place the night before. Karen barely got a scratch, but... Foggy still ended up messed up, and Matt hadn't even realized it until the Marker's burn died down and he was already getting them to the hospital.
“What is it? You know I can't see 2 dimensional things.”
“Yeah, right, um. Apparently a guy in red spandex and his hulking Bane knock off thug were the ones responsible for the explosions.”
“Shit,” Matt grumbled, wincing, oh he'd forgotten how much a 2x4 hurt when it tried to wedge itself into his shoulder. “They weren't, Foggy.”
“According to this the guy shot a bunch of fucking cops-”
“They didn't, Foggy, well, if they did they didn't kill anyone.”

Summary
Everything... days worth of time, had passed for him as if he was in shock. Just, one focus point during it all. Wade would have been so fucking cheering him on over that. Vengeance, for the life taken before its time, for the soul lost before it was due home... Human, after human, rung after rung on the ladder of this- climb to the top. Getting to the one responsible, that didn't turn out so well. The only upside was, Fisk didn't seem aware of what exactly it was standing in front of him, what it was he had thrown aside, beaten half to death...

Summary
Melvin, oh that man would make a good Wrath Demon... That was the first thought Matt had had when he suddenly turned violent, but then he couldn't exactly fault him. The Devil randomly showing up in your shop would put you in fight or flight mode real fucking quick. But, after ripping out stitches, that Claire would probably scream at him about later, and a mild concussion, yeah she'd definitely screaming at him over that, and hearing the man break down... That wasn't what came to mind. The man might think like a Wrath Demon, one thought, one focus at a time, he was really more like Buck than any of the others. Just, keep him focused and help him along, that's all it took. Calm voice, reassurances, he understood. He understood that 'Mr. Devil' just wanted to help and to stay safe helping others. “I'll make you a Deal, Melvin. You make me a Suit, something that'll keep me safe and I'll do everything I can to keep your Betsy safe, alright?”

Summary
The moment Hoffman started singing, Matt felt the Marker lift- The Deal settled, Hoffman alive and in Federal custody and his end being paid, it felt like no other Deal he'd ever made... He wondered if this was what it felt like taking souls, or lives as payment. But, oh, it was so much more than one, it was tens, hundreds even, possibly thousands- every life that could be destroyed by this man saved with him locked away. He was smiling at Karen, it felt as if her Marker was paid too, they were through this. She still held the one for her safety but, they were through 'all this' that started her joining in their lives. It felt settled, finished, she was free of any Deal, if she chose to. He blinked when his burner rang, he excused himself for a moment to smile at Melvin alerting him that his new Suit was ready to be picked up before he smiled and thanked him and headed back in to continue with Hoffman's confession.

Matt woke up just as aching and sweaty as he'd gone to sleep, “Ugh,” he finally groaned as he hit his alarm to shut it up.
“Why 7 am, Matt? Why?”
“Because it's daytime, Foggy... You know how difficult it is to fix my sleeping habits once they're messed up.”
Foggy was chuckling against his shoulder, “Yeah, but I kept my Deal...”
Matt was grinning, “Yeah, you kept your Deal. And it was the best Deal I ever made.”

Matt was honestly at the point he was debating just drinking the glass shoved to him, “What do you mean this guy isn't a fucking Demon?”
“Not a Demon,” Weasel shrugged as he nudged the glass again. “He's human, Murdock... But, he sure as shit is on the path to becoming one if he keeps this shit up.”
“A human, took out the Irish and the- fuck, he's taken out at least 3 of the ruling factions of crime in Hell's Kitchen, ALONE, Weasel, there's no way in hell this guy is human.”

Matt was already on his way back to the Kitchen with Buck in tow, knowing Wade was on the way or already there when he got a call from Foggy, “Matt, something's going on, the Dog's of Hell's clubhouse was just attacked, the precinct is bare bones, this... it's giving me the creeps.”
“We're on our way, buddy, just hold on. We'll, yeah, change of plans, Buck, you're walking in with me.”

Matt rushed the door to Sister Margaret's huffing and puffing, “Matt,” Karen's voice gave him a bit of relief. “We're in the corner, far end.”
“Didn't think you'd pull this Deal off Murdock,” Grotto's voice made him slump into the neighboring chair in relief.
“Karen, you told him the Rules, right? Buck, you told them not to take any Deals, right?”
“Uh huh, they've been good. No Deals, though- Weasel isn't happy. Had to get their drinks for them.”
“He knew they were for humans right?”
“Uh huh.”
“Good, good,” Matt sighed as he laid his head on the table.
“Matt, you're beat up pretty good,” Karen shifted his head up, making him smile, “Everything go okay?”Series

Summary
Matt trudged in, soul deep levels of tired after repeating himself over and over again about the events. Foggy settled against his side as they flopped onto the couch, “Jesus Christ, Matt... What the hell kind Deal did you give that guy? And how the fuck did we actually pull this shit off?”
“Ugh, wasn't worth it, I still gotta deal with Brett... He's, still got all sorts of off the record questions. Shit, what did I do when that bomb went off?”
“Kicked names and took skulls is what you did,” Matt cracked up as he leaned against Foggy, feeling just how tired his partner was too. “Um, reverse that or rephrase it or something... Too tired to word.”Series

Summary
Matt and Foggy were by the 15th, picking up a client from the drunk tank... Poor guy, apparently fell off the wagon and ended up in a bar fight on the way down... “Murdock, hey, I need a minute,” Brett's voice made him wince. Ever since telling him his story, Brett just put Matt on edge.
“I've got a client waiting, can it wait?”
“Not, exactly, they're worried about escalation but when I saw it I thought you might know more about it.”
Matt grumbled, “Go ahead, Foggy, I'll... catch up.”
“Don't take too long,” Foggy mumbled toward him before heading back to the hold.
“Know anything about this?”
Matt blinked, feeling like a photograph was handed to him, “I, can't see, Brett...”
“You can't, like, tell?”

Matt snapped back, grabbing the hand touching his face and coughing, “Easy, Matt, it's okay, reel it back in alright?”
Matt turned away, coughing again, feeling like he'd just sucked down nothing but exhaust fumes, “I'm, yeah, I'm here- Foggy?”
“Yeah, buddy, um, Wade called me on your phone. Said I might need to help bring you up from this... Just, reel it in alright?”
“Fuck,” Matt panted when it finally felt like he wasn't choking on smoke and heat, “Everything just- hurts.”
“Yeah, we, can tell... Um, you doing better?”
Matt finally sat upright, wincing as the world snapped and crackled around him, “I, shit, I got the spins now...”
“Yeah well, according to Weasel you set the fucking bar on fire there buddy... Wade was able to help him get it out but, yeah you went full anti-christ for a bit. Like, trance and all. What happened?”
Matt grumbled, “I, fuck, I don't even remember I just. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-”Series
