“Oh,” is all D says. One beat of silence stretches to two between them. He blinks the residual tiredness away and adds, “Okay.”

“Having fun, sweetspark?” Orion purrs into his audials, leaning towards him, and D-16 has to look around at the floor to try and work out where the frag his tanks have gone, because he thinks they might've dropped out of his frame.
“Plenty,” he grits out when his systems tell him his tanks are, in fact, still where they're supposed to be. He flashes Orion a toothy grimace-smile.

Summary
Orion feels like he might have accidentally fallen into the smelter. Every part of him, every hinge and joint and bolt and screw, is positively melting.
D-16 is warm and sweet above him, all rounded edges and scratched, dented plates. He rubs his thumb along a slightly off-colour stroke of grey over an old mark on his chassis and his vents whirr hurriedly on as D leans into the touch.

Summary
It's been a while. A long while. To Megatron, at least, who still walks without looking at his reflection.
It's different, this frame. It barely feels his. He still takes up more space than he's used to. And sometimes he goes to rub at his plating, only to remember he's equipped with an entire cannon. It's momentarily horrifying. There's a difference between being able to defend yourself and being built for war.
He's scared. He's scared, and he hates it.

He's not stalking him, or following him in any way, for that matter. He's there because Shockwave had told him the Quintessons would be. It's recon only, simply for the purposes of seeing how the Autobots cope against their mutual foe, and if either side has exploitable weaknesses. He's there to observe from afar.
This all goes to the Pits when Optimus falls. Megatron finds himself in motion before he can even process it.
Or: in which Megatron and Optimus kiss and make up (figuratively AND literally).
