Summary
The beast in the woods first brought the famine, and then the plague that followed. The rice fields – once healthy and plentiful, burnt as though by magic on Kiyoomi’s final night in his own bed. The sacrifice and the saviour.
More a pawn than a hero. The virgin, is what the shrine keepers whispered in his father’s ear. Only an offering as pure as Kiyoomi could save them all.
That day his mother instructed the family's attendant to pick flowers on the edge of the village for Kiyoomi for his new betrothal. Upon receiving them, Kiyoomi cut the heads off the dianthus’ and left them by his mothers bed. A bad omen, the shrine keepers had insisted with quivering voices. Perhaps he is not the one. His parents sent him to the woods anyway.
🎎
(Kiyoomi, the outcast son of the Sakusa family, is gifted as a bride to appease the beast in the woods, only to find that Miya Atsumu is more man than beast. A fairytale retelling based loosely upon 'The Tiger's Bride' by Angela Carter)

Summary
The Count does not take his olive-toned eyes off Kiyoomi, analysing him and dissecting every careful movement he makes as though judging when best to pounce. It takes Kiyoomi several seconds to decipher the peculiar twist in his gut. It is not anxiety, though he dreads the imminent conversation. Nor is it infatuation, though Ushijima is arguably one of the most striking men Kiyoomi has ever laid eyes on.
No, it is the startling dread that settles in the bones of foxes when the whistle is blown and the dogs begin to howl as they follow the scent. The feeling that somehow, he is being hunted.
🪻
(Count Ushijima Wakatoshi abandons his home in Styria and takes temporary refuge at the Sakusa Estate in southern England.
Kiyoomi, the young master of the estate, finds himself inexplicably drawn and profoundly horrified by this man, who does not hide his lust nor devotion from him).Series

Now we ain’t strangers,” the man rattles on, ignoring Kiyoomi’s obstinate insistence. “Ya know, all sorts of weirdos parade these roads. I’d hate fer somethin’ to happen to ya alone out here after dark.”
