Summary
“S-Sea,” he croaked, his voice rasping in his chest. It sounded like his vocal cords had been damaged, leaving his voice just as much of a mess as the rest of him. “I… please. It’s not breathing. I don’t know…” his voice hitched, arms tightening around the bundle of fabric in his arms. Fresh tears swelled up in his eyes and he choked on a sob. “I don’t know what to do.”
Seawatt crouched down to meet Evbo’s height. Evbo’s eyes darted back down and his breathing seemed to speed up just a bit. A terrible, warbling whimper escaped the young god’s lips. “What’s going on?” Seawatt pressed gently. “What’s not breathing?”
Evbo shifted slightly. At first, Seawatt thought it was out of discomfort for the situation. It wasn’t until he moved his arms slightly up, as if in offering, that Seawatt understood.Evbo made a stupid mistake, and now him and his partners have to deal with the aftermath.

Summary
A gentle hand pressed against his cheek, and a claw carefully wiped away the tears as they trickled down.
“Do you want to see her?” EMF asked softly. He continued wiping away his partner’s tears, even when he didn’t receive an immediate response. “I can go get Seawatt-“
“Please-“ Evbo choked. He gripped the blankets, knuckles paling under the force. EMF slowly removed his hand and nodded.
“Okay, okay. I’ll be right back, okay? I promise, I’m not gonna be gone for long.”
Evbo nodded sharply. He stared fiercely down at himself, hiccupping quietly. He was scared. Terrified. Something happened yesterday- something that left him feeling like this- and nobody was telling him anything. No matter how hard he tried to think back, all he could remember was that dream, and even then it was all a blur.
He couldn’t tell what was real and what was fake. When he closed his eyes, he was left with the impression of blue eyes and a little tail, but that couldn’t be- it just didn’t make sense. For all intents and purposes, Evbo handled the day their daughter was born surprisingly well.
The day after, however, is a different story.Series

Summary
Right now, though, it was the first time it was just the two of them in the house.
Evbo was entirely alone with his daughter for the first time since she was born. Sure, they had been alone before, but not to this extent. His partners had always been just a room away. Close enough to hear if he needed them.
The house felt quiet. Uncomfortably silent, like the air itself was waiting for something to happen.
And their baby was sleeping.Evbo's Noob instincts reappear for the first time since their daughter was born.
It goes very wrong.Series

Summary
“Wow. You were rehearsing that, weren’t you?”
“The entire month, yes. Listen, Jas. We haven’t introduced her to the world yet so of course I’m trying to come up with every answer before the question is asked. There’s gonna be… a lot, once we announce her arrival.”
Jasper gave Evbo a nervous look. “You’re… revealing her when she’s still this young?”
“I mean, soon, yeah. People are gonna want to know why-“
“I don’t think you should do that,” Jasper cut off. “Listen, Ev, I know you think that she’s going to be safe, but have you considered-“
“I’m not putting my daughter in danger!” Evbo snapped immediately. He felt his shoulders stiffen in anger at the mere thought of him doing anything that would be anything but safe for Nebby. Her parents were the most powerful people in the Parkour Goddamn world-
“She’s *vulnerable*.”
...
“…Evbo… you know I’m right.”Evbo introduces his daughter to his old Pro neighbor. It does not go exactly how he planned.

Summary
“Okay, class,” Seawatt said in a haughty voice. “What have we learned from this experience?”
“To be more careful,” Evbo groaned. He had already had this lecture a million times by now. He really didn’t want to hear it yet again.
“Because?”
“Because command block shenanigans aren’t necessary for this to happen again.”
“And?”
“And you might punch me if we have another kid.”Nebby was born in what could be considered to some as a moment of chaos.

Summary
They weren’t expecting it to be alive.
It- he- was incredibly tiny. Before they even cleaned the little thing up, they could see the telltale signs of jaundice from an underdeveloped liver, and while he squirmed and whined, he didn’t cry. His noises were soft, muffled. Weak. His breathing wasn’t as strong or steady as they would have liked.
And now, Ally had to make a decision.EMF and Seawatt call upon Ally to save Evbo and, if at all possible, their youngest child, after the godling falls gravely ill.
All that Ally can think about is another time, another boy, and how fate took him away far too soon.

Summary
“Em, we don’t know when Evbo is going to wake up,” Seawatt pointed out. “It could be tomorrow. It could be a month from now. But we have to…” He lowered his head, hands shaking. EMF cradled the baby a little tighter against his chest, but he didn’t even protest. He was so quiet compared to Nebby and Cel. So small. So weak. Seawatt inhaled slowly and spoke again. “We have to address the fact that our son might not make it long enough to see the day Evbo is better. And I don’t… I don’t want him to die without a name.”
EMF immediately bristled and bared his teeth in a snarl. “He’s not going to die!” He growled. “We have done everything we can-“
“And it might not be enough,” Seawatt cut off. He opened his mouth as if to speak but paused. He inhaled slowly, then let it out. He did so three full times before speaking again. “I know that… we want to think the best of this situation. I know that we’re hoping everything will turn out alright. And it very well could, I’m not saying it won’t. But… there’s a chance…”
“There’s not-“
“There is.”Series

Summary
Terrifying? All mighty? Intimidating? How could you think that? How could anyone see them and see anything other than safety and comfort? It didn’t make any sense. These were the people who had given up almost everything outside of what was absolutely necessary to keep their children safe. They weren’t terrifying forces of nature; they were Cel’s parents.
They might be annoyed that Cel had sneaked off while she was supposed to be playing with Newn on the Fighter Layer, but they wouldn’t hurt her or anything. They never had and they never would; Cel was confident in that.
The ice was fun to play on, but only for so long. It didn’t take a whole lot of time before the girls were searching through the chests again, looking for something new to play with.
Newn suddenly looked up, startling. Cel’s ears perked up at the sound of people talking. “Hide!” Newn hissed. “Someone’s coming!”Cel gets herself in some trouble while playing with her best friend Newn.
Luckily, Nebby is always there to protect her sister. No matter what she needs to be to do so.Series

Summary
Evbo had been so close to losing his daughters. So, so terrifyingly close to losing them today. And if something had happened to Cel, then Nebby would’ve blamed herself for something that wasn’t even her fault.
Why did she think it was her responsibility to protect her siblings?! Why did Cel call for Nebby and not her parents?
Clearly, things would have to change.Evbo is not taking the news about Nebby’s divinity and Cel’s near-kidnapping well. At all.

Summary
“It has come to my attention that some players have made the bright decision of attempting to kidnap my young daughter, Celeste.
“And maybe you can see the train of thought behind such an act. To use my children as a way of trying to get to me or my partners. Perhaps you think it is a good way of getting back at us for whatever grudges you may hold after all of these years. Or maybe,” he paused again, allowing his words to hang before finishing his thought in a dark, threatening tone. “You think that holding them hostage would be a good way of getting something from me.
“So, I think it is time for you all to understand what exactly lies in store for you if you dare to lay a hand on my family.”Evbo makes an example of the players who attempted to kidnap Cel.

Summary
Nebby did not know the Parkour God.
And the creature on the stage was not Dad. That was the Parkour God. That was a predator, the kind that prey creatures like herself and her sweet little siblings had to hide from.
If the Parkour God was an eagle, then Nebby would be the stone that Cel and Starry could cower beneath. If the Parkour God was a shark, then Nebby would be their sandbar that was too shallow for it to follow. If the Parkour God was a stalking jaguar, then Nebby would be the dens set into the ground, just large enough to protect the smaller creatures within and keep them out of its too-sharp claws.
If the Parkour God was a predator, then Nebula would be the brush and the bramble and the thorns that kept prey out of its reach. As the oldest sibling, it's Nebby's responsibility to protect Celeste and Starry. Or so she believes.
This is unsustainable.Series

Summary
Cel didn’t quite understand what the players were saying. They understood the words, yes, but not what they meant in the context that was being used. They furrowed their brow, shooting their little brother a confused glance as they finished the translation. He gave a shrug.
What they did understand, though, was the tone they were using. Dripping with sarcasm and malice. Oozing with clear dislike for the players they were talking about.
“Betcha anything Seawatt beats those kids,” the younger man said suddenly.
“Nah, man. Ya’ hear the way the Parkour God talked to the oldest girl? They’re all beating on them. I’d bet a stack of glass blocks on it.”
“You know what they say. All kids deserve a parent, but not every parent deserves a kid.”
“Gonna be honest, man. Not sure how much that applies here.”
“Why’s that, huh?”
“‘Cause, didya actually look at those kids? Honestly, that’s the kind of thing that the old Parkour God and Champion wouldn’t let slide.”Celeste and Starry learn far more than they wanted to about the way the world views their parents... and themselves.

They had failed.
They had *failed*.
The best thing they could do, for their entire family, was put everything out on the table. Share all of their secrets, expose their sins, and let their kids come to terms with it themselves.
Maybe, after that… once the wound was torn wide open, bloody and mangled… maybe then they’d have a chance to make it up to them.
Maybe… the only way to regain the trust of their children, was to trust them first.A necessary conversation finally takes place.
