Description:

Angel had thought that he'd done the Detached Misanthropic Vampire thing pretty well. He lived alone, his only "friends" were other vampires and demons, and his only enemy was Human Attachment. He saved if it was convenient for his conscience, and he went back to drinking human blood. His scowl was perfect.

After 200 years, he'd practically succeeded in fading away from humanity.

Practically.

~~~~~
My favorite thing about Joss Whedon's* works is the exploration of relationships, and what, beyond blood, creates family. Angel is my personal favorite of the Mutant Enemy shows because of the closeness developed between characters who would not have been friends if they'd had anyone else to turn to. The Interaction series continues that idea, only with types of characters and relationships the TV show never explored (kids, mothers, mentorship vs. parenting, kingly authority, and the ethical ramifications of befriending known murders--even if the murderer is a vampire who's very very sorry about it).
My other favorite thing about ME's works is the willingness to explore deeply morally ambiguous issues. Angel's character is the definition of moral ambiguity, being simultaneously both Good and Evil. I explore that at every chance I get, keeping the question always at the forefront: "What will Angel choose to be today?"
I am still writing, believe it or not. The stories that are wholly Interaction and not crossed over with Blood & Time are complete, since there comes a point where the Doctor is fully engrained as a character, who has his own relationships with Judith, Calder, and William. While it does make reading the series that much more involved, I absolutely love the lifelike complexity that both series have taken on. I hope you enjoy that, too, and I love hearing from people who enjoy my works. Don't be shy if you have a question or want to strike up a conversation--my readers have helped me develop ideas and come to new conclusions more than once.
Relationships, after all, happen through vulnerability, and that's what this whole series is ultimately about.
*In light of the revelations made most notably by Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Trachtenberg (and the confirmation and support of their female colleagues), I have to stand up and say that I can no longer support Joss Whedon as a person. His actions and attitudes were and are unconscionable, cruel, and downright sickening. However, a whole lot more than Joss went into the creation of his shows, and there are plenty of decent human beings also behind these works (let's face it, these shows wouldn't be half of what they are without Marti Noxon and Jane Espenson, not to mention the acting talent and the hard, faceless work of all those behind the scenes). Art is meant to be reclaimed and owned by the consumer as much as the creator (on a spiritual level; I'm not talking about copyright laws here), and I continue to take inspiration and joy from Joss's shows despite the deplorability of Joss himself.
A quick guide to upcoming stories:
Trust: The direct sequel to Blood and pretty important for both relationship and plot development across the board.
Question & Answer: Set in the Blood and Time world, this story is a series of scenes over a long period of time which often involve our Interaction characters.
There are even more crossovers with Blood and Time and I'll add those to the list as they become more imminent. This world isn't disappearing anytime soon...
