I wrote this story for one of the first fiction writing classes I took in community college a couple years ago. Some aspects of this story was loosely inspired by the novel: Supermarket. His hands in his lap twitched to reach out, to grab a hold of the gift, but he waited for instruction to do so. Father Samael had been giving him lots of things recently. He wasn’t sure if he was the only one or if any of his sisters were also receiving such items, but he dared not ask, afraid that they would stop if he said something. The gifts varied in a variety of items, it started off with a very simple rosary, hand carved wooden beads with a cross dangling in the center made from a pure ruby. Then there was a new crucifix, a box of chocolates, and a bottle of wine. Then they became a bit more bizarre, ropes, candles, women's panties– those were gifts Alastor had to hide away from the reverend mother.
