Peter tried very hard not to think about the fact that the socks Alfred had given him— very nice socks, objectively, soft, expensive, probably imported from somewhere fancy— had fucking seams. The bane of Peter's existence. His actual arch-nemesis.
And you might be thinking to yourself, “Peter, why don’t you just take them off?” the answer would be because, one, the fancy marble floor around here was cold as hell. And two, Peter hates how the floor feels under his feet. He can feel every grain, every carpet fiber, every unappealing texture… At least the socks make it more tolerable.
Too bad the socks still made him want to peel his skin off and froth at the mouth like a rabid dog.

Summary
Stripped of his powers and memory, the godlike superhero once known as Homelander has been erased. “Marks,” Butcher murmured, his voice rumbling in his chest. “Hands? Strap?”
“Both,” John whispered. “I… woke up like this,” John said. “I don’t remember really.”
Butcher’s jaw tightened.
He moved on. Fingers pushed the t-shirt collar aside to check the gas burns on John’s chest. His knuckles grazed the skin. John shivered.
“Stand up,” Butcher ordered.
John stood. His legs felt shaky.
Butcher hooked two fingers into the waistband of the sweatpants.
John grabbed his wrist, panic flaring, eyes flying open. “Wait..”
Butcher didn’t pull away. He froze, his eyes locking onto John’s. They were dark, unreadable, swirling with something that wasn’t quite anger.
“Relax,” Butcher said softly. “I’m not takin’ your trousers off. I ain’t that interested. I want to get a better look at the hips. Unless you want to strip down and do a full inspection? I seen all of ya’ already.”
John swallowed hard. His hand trembled around Butcher’s wrist. The heat of the man was overwhelming.
He slowly let go.

Something’s off. Eddie’s not sure what, but he can tell that something is not quite right with Evan Buckley. It started before the call, when him and Hen were stocking the ambulance. At this point, Jason just wanted to be left alone. After nine months back in Gotham and one failed assassination attempt on his former father-figure, Jason made the executive decision to steer clear of the Bats. Even the Replacement. He instead spent his days getting his Pit Madness (mostly) under control, in addition to gathering a small but mighty criminal empire thanks to a duffle bag full of severed heads. Crime Alley finally had the protector it deserved. And whether out of fear or sheer disinterest, the Bats seemed to keep their distance.
Until the Replacement decides one reluctant rescue from the infamous Red Hood is enough to form a pseudo-alliance between them...
