“No one of importance,” Maria replied, seething. The pirate laughed. His dark eyes creased and he bared his teeth. Whether it was malicious or mirthful was unclear to Maria.
“We aren’t that thick in the head, princess.” He spat out the last word like a curse. “We know who you are, Maria.” She gasped. How?
“Then it’s only fair that I know you as well.” She jutted her chin out to match the man.
“I go by Robin to my friends. But my enemies call me The Magpie.”
(Maria and her uncle are on a one way trip to Jamaica, but the Couer De Noir and his son have other plans)

The story starts where the movie ended. Maria and Robin are growing in their friendship. Maria discovers her responsibilities as the moon princess will be challenging, while Robin has to prepare to be the future leader of the De Noir clan; with each passing day, his responsibilities are growing. Even though Maria returned the pearls to the sea, it seemed as if something was missing. Something also seems off about the forest, it looks okay from afar, but the closer you come to it, the more you realize that something feels unnatural.
I do not own any of the characters in the book or movie. Examples of the characters I do not own would be Maria, Robin, Loveday, etc.
